@ ROBTUCSON Yo dude really likeing this amp considering getting it. I play in drop c on and ltd 350mh fr with emgs. I was wondering if this would be a great upgrade from my Marshall jcm 2000 tsl 60. I also run a zakk Wyler mxr and a nosie gate to tighten it all up. I play mainly a mix of nu metal and metalcore. What would you say are the pros and cons for what I'm looking for in this amp?
This amp loves drop tunnings. When I first got the Amp was trying to get older lead tones out of it. You can but not what I wanted. Once I started tunning down found out what I was missing. Great Amp for modern metal.
Hey dude, good review. You can totally hear the warmth of the amp in this video, especially with your playing style. And you seem down to earth with your opinion, not ignorant or close-minded. I enjoyed.
few days ago, i ask a guy who sold a randall rm 100, i couldnt made a decision because of the reliability, he said me that the peavey 5150/II and Peavey 5150, and 6505 so on, are not reliable amps, instead the rm 100 module system, because rm series have much variation in sound and tune, but i fear that the rm modules are hald digital and tube driven :S i love peavey but i was confused about it.
hey man, nice demo. do you still have your 5150? if so, can you make a demo comparing both the 5150 and the 6534+?? just to hear the differences like you've stated.
How does this sound in comparison to the JSX or 3120? I owned a JSX and the Ultra channel just had do much...bite, which I loved. Most amps just seem muddy compared to Peavey to me. I haven't actually played 3120, but they definitely interest me. So yea, I guess...how does this match up to the 3120 and JSX?
Hey Rob i like your reviews there nice and straight forward no bullshit!!! so my local guitar shop has a triple xxx 212 combo i am thinking of getting but still on the fence, how would you compare this amp to the triple x and the 5150? thanx.
@luck2000guitars Sorry for the late responce I have never played the XXX combo but I have had two 5150 combos and they are nive amps. I can only compare the 6534 to the 6505+ and the XXX head. I really Liked this amp at first but it was missing that low end that the 6505 and 5150 can get. Now the XXX have no issue at all getting low end. They are peaveys version of the Recto. So I have found play it and see if it works for you. I really have liked all the peavey Amps I have had over the years.
It is not has heavy but not in a bad way it is different. If you are really into the drop tunnings then this may or may not be for you. It is much more dynamic and does have a great range on tones and the clean is much improved. Also having the three channels it great. I would most definitely try both before you buy. I was not able to find one local to try to I just ended up buying off line. I have only seen one on ebay and it sold for around 895. Hope that helped.
Hy Rob. Thanks for the review. I wanted to ask: Do you feel it's still as heavy as the 6505+? I mean...do you feel they added to the tone, or modified it rather? Also I would like to ask if you know of any shop or someone who sells them(new or used) for less than the list price of 1160$ and ships worldwide. I'm from Europe and it's very hard to find one out here that isnt ridiculously overpriced.
I was using a Mesa with vintage 30s. the noise does appear to be less but it still has noise. Cool amp but like the review it really has a differnt vibe than the 5150 and 6505. No noise gate or effects were used.
yo man been waiting a while for a new amp demo from you.are you gonna do a demo for the new xxx 2 bc its kinda got the upgrade witht the noise gate and fat switches along with the presence and resonance knob?
This or the 6505+? which would you prefer
