This law just brings the rest of the State of Arizona up to match what Yuma County has already been doing. Border Patrol and Law Enforcement here are well-trained. How hard is it to provide a birth certificate in order to run for office. We expect it of the President of the United States and I HOPE all elected offices already. The only illegal immigrants that have to worry are those who don't speak English because that ought to be reasonable suspicion.

When you consider the amount of paperwork and liability that hangs over every officer who has to make that "discretionary" decision to question a person's legal status, it's easy to see that the problem of racial profiling will take care of itself. Nobody wants those headaches. As for giving the Secretary of State power to verify eligibility to run for office, I hope they check Grijalva's status to either get rid of him or show him how easy it is to produce a birth certificate.

As a 26 year resident of this state who comes from back east, I unfortunately must say that this does not surprise me...the "wild west" image lives on out here...If the savior to stopping this bill from becoming law is Jan Brewer...you can forget it...there is NO way she will veto this...we need Obama to step up and say this bill (soon to be law) is unconstitutional and get a real immigration bill passed.
