@TheRichardserge not sure if you are asking about me or the barber! I usually use a Merkur Progress adjustable safety razor. The barber used a Shavette.
Most of this pampering on your face is unnecessary in the real world. In my case when I shave with a straight razor I wet the beard with warm water to soften it, lather up with Tabac shaving soap, two passes on the face, rinse with cold water, dry face and apply my homemade bay rum aftershave, and I'm good to go. It's that simple just like your grandfather did years ago. I believe this Barber is much better than the other Barber that you went to in your other video.
Did you happen to catch the name of the razor he was using? It looked a lot like a brand that makes straight razors where you insert a DE blade snapped in half.
Watching this reminds me of that scene in 'Dumb and Dumber' when Jim Carrey, whilst getting a shave, uses a fake blood sachet to convince the barber that he has inadvertently cut his throat; the barber then swoons back in a dead faint. Funny .......
I think he needs to review acid/base chemistry again if I heard him correctly. Soap is basic (alkaline) and polarity doesn't really have that effect he mentioned. Soap dries the skin because it forms micelles with oil produced from sebaceous glands and those are washed away with a rinse.
A Truefitt & Hill barber using Campbell's shave cream from a latherizer? Hmmm....makes you wonder what REALLY is good shave cream. $3.00 liquid in the latherizer, or $30.00 shave cream from Truefitt & Hill which gives you the same thing.
Most of your barbershops (not salon) will give you a straight razor shave and of course they will use a disposable straight razors. There is several of them in Dickson County TN. I shave with a straight razor so I have no need to go to a Barber.
It is a shame the art of shaving is becoming a lost art. Long time ago in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s men were so tip top shape in how they shaved. Now with the marketing and the so-called "new technology" blades - people literally shaved their skins off...(what a pity!).
@bsmyn0708 we sell small medium and large brushes for those who have a gotee/moustache, and shave their heads. we also have brushes in black, ivory, buffalo horn, chrome and nickel handles.
@bsmyn0708 I'm assuming you're asking why they look lighter in the video. well the shelves their own have a light inside so they look different but seeing them in person they look just like the picture online. also the camera shot in the nick swisher video, only had the fine brushes in the shot. we have a whole wall with the entire selection of brushes. I can assure you if you were to order from the website you'll get what you ordered. Give us a call at the store if you have any ?'s 2127029596
@bsmyn0708 yea they can. its just a generic machine. you obviously cant put a gel or anything like that in there. then again why would you. but yeah theyre using a glycerin based shaving cream so its ok.
@bsmyn0708 truefitt & hill and AOS use their own product. they take scoops out of their actual shave cream in the morning and load it into the hot lather machine to replicate the effect of a badger brush. I work for AOS and have seen this done on a daily basis.
when i was in pakistan, i went to the barber all the time.
what i noticed: before the barber started to shave, he used the back part of the razor to remove the lather first and then actually shaved the part where he removed the lather.
@daboss212 the explanation given to me was that Nevada state law made using them difficult for hygene purposes. However if I had brought my own brush he would have been happy to use it on me.
@arnoldii2 depending on where you get it and a couple other variables count on about $70 or more. Its definitely a "pampering" spa experience, vs. a quick shave at a regular barber shop.
Im really sorry to say this Manic but because my mother language is not English I was wondering if it could be possible to maybe add subtitles to this?
Nevertheless you've done an excellent job and you are the sole person that showed me the way to wet shaving.
Ver informative vid mantic, i do agree with the master barber that you should have a shve or a facial, bascially because shaving is a facial for guys makes sense only to do one of the two. Also i was wondering can you get a good shave with a straight razor with thick stubble, because you always seem not to have too much hair on your face, feedback is appreciated.
Looks like the barber's arms are shaved. ._.

há dermatologistas que defendem que o uso de passar o creme de barbear diretamente da mão para o rosto é bem melhor, revitaliza a pele.
