They make shower arm removal look easy, I had to a hire a pro to change one, is there a trick to it to make it easy, because most shower arms won't budge and I was afraid of damaging some plumbing behind the wall.
@Chris9017 It is easy, unless it breaks off in the fitting in the wall. If that happens I charge a service call of $150 to $200 and all is good. The trick is installing the arm into the fitting correctly the first time. Teflon Tape is best.
@ramonasplumber It was put in with Teflon paste I believe which is possible acts like a glue. But the new one I made sure was installed with Teflon tape. So, would WD40 work to help make it budge more easily?
@Chris9017 If Teflon Tape was used it will not seize. Just unscrew it. Teflon Tape will never act like glue. No need for WD40, just unscrew the arm with Chanel Locks, not pulling up or down, just circular twisting of the arm. The fitting on the wall should be fine.
The 'sockets' in the wall where the showerhead arm screws into....should they all be the same size? We bought a house built in the 70s and i tried to install a new arm/head combo, but the arm did not seem to want to screw in!! help please!
@taofsf Oh yes, the Price Phister Ball, Change out the whole arm and put on a real good High Efficiency (HET) Shower Head. They make ones that will actually wash out the soap in your hair.... If you got any...I dont.
That is on the way, each brand has a different twist ...some use Allen wrenches others have concealed screws, the largest verity in plumbing diffrences is in Tub/shower trim! take a photo and send to me, I will advise
Thanks for the video! Looking forward to changing my shower head now. Not nervous whatsoever. Lol. :)

@ramonasplumber It was paste for the old one, but is it still no different?

@Chris9017 Teflon Paste wont sieze either, you are being too cautious, spin that puppy out of there.

Check to see if the old shower arm is broken off in the "socket", if it is you need to extract it
