Friends, I am having same issue and after seeing your video and comments, I emailed nikon customer care about this issue. from the comments , I think I have to send it for repair... I wonder why I got the defective one ? lets see what they reply. ...anyway, Thanks very much for posting this video. This really helped.
the eye sensor is the problem. i have a d60 and your modes are doing just fine. just the eye sensor thinks its been blocked. you should get it cleaned or repaired on a nikon repair center.
You should do is reset your camera to the Default setting...this setting will not affect your menu setting from the LCD....Default setting by pressing the 2 green button that is located on your camera shutter button on the left side (active d- lighting button) and the other one is(zoom button) lower left side of your camera...press both for 2 seconds and you fine...repeat that procedure if the blingking happens again ....
I have this on my D60 but only since using the 16-85mm lens fitted to it. I have had no issues indoor or out with the Kit lens or 50mm and this flickering.
I'm not a pro in those cameras but I don't know if you have noticed that there's a question mark that's blinking in the lower left og the screen, maybe there's a troublechooting system in the camera that will make u understand where the problem is...
The reflective light plays tricks with the optical eye sensor.
Go into your menu and turn off the auto off function. Fixed.
If you like the auto off function and don't feel like jumping through hoops to turn it off every time you go outdoors, setup your function button to do it with a single click.
If you have this problem, the camera is 'defective'. Nikon repair center in New York will need to recalibrate the TTL eye sensor as they did to mine and fixed mine. Ambient light should not make the screen flicker, only should turn off when you bring it to your face. If people think turning off this function is acceptable, then you should have bought a D40x.
hahaha this is guy is from CANON he was just trying to ruin nikons credibility ... obviously he is clicking the shutter button to switch off the LCD... please make a video again holding the camera with your left hand!
I guess you know how to make the LCD flicker several times within seconds by clicking the shutter button. I want to see you do a video of how you can do this.
You know what else, I love Canon so much that I purposely spent $700 to buy this Nikon D60 so I can do this video on Youtube. Oh well, at least you gave me a good laugh.
Oh my god i have this problem too. initially i thought i did not read the manual correctly. then i realised it could be a problem and i googled it and i ended up viewing your video. SO what do i do?
im unable to change f-stop n shutter speed becos lcd is just flickers. i ended up changing thru the view finder. this is terrible. they shud recall this camera .
Read my comment below....send it to Nikon repair center for repair and they will fix it for free if it's under warranty (1 year). Go to Nikon website and look for their contact number to call and speak to their customer service rep.
Why dont you just set this function off. I used to get this problem too but after i set a Shooting Info Auto Off = off( If you dont care about the ability of using eye sensor) my camara can work properly.
Well, after sending it off to Nikon for repair, I finally got it back 3 weeks later and they did fix the eye sensor problem. They did some adjustment to the TTL sensor. BUT now my auto focus doesn't focus correctly anymore. The day after I got my camera, I had to send it back to Nikon to fix this new problem......waiting.....
I too, have this problem with my new D60. This will spell big trouble for Nikon. A major flaw. It is impossible to set the aperture, speed, etc when outside because the screen keeps turning off!!

Your camera is not defective. It is not damaged.
