really though...you don't pay extra for anything...with the subscription...you're just locking the yearly figures. ...you're paying the same price for them. Now...if buying the subscription meant you only paid say 15 dollars a figure..instead of the 20...i'd agree with you
sorry " pay extra for nice figures " means monthly bonus figures, which are "he-man with armer/ battle cat" excluded in yearly subscription package...=(
where i knew i m guaranteed to get moss-man, jaw trap..vs 1 adora..
so optimistically..1 nice figure per 3-4 months..4-5 nice in a year lol except wun-dar..but ths my plan after all ..a decision made after a civil war between frontal lobe and limbic centre..rational and desire..=P
yea from mattycollectors. The figures are a limited run...and yes they sell out quick. You need to know the date they go on sale. Which they usually tell you. I went through the process a week ago when they released this guy. And i'll be honest...it was kinda fun. These figures are true collectibles and very much worth it
when i moved! as a teen i sold ALL my HE-MAN ,STAR WARS,GI JOE,TRANSFORMERS,some JAP ROBOT STUFF AAAND KISS dolls IN BOXES! and the guy that bought it said it was the BEST stuff in the BEST condition and the MOST COMPLETE sets he had ever seen!!!!!!!!! GOD DAMMIT WHY DID I SELL THAT STUFF !!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!? i think i might go shoot myself now!
Hi optibotimus, great review, I also collect the vintage toys and what you said about the soft heads is partially true, the later figures in the line had hard heads. Take Faker for instance, who was released twice, his first version has a soft head and the Faker II has a hard head. But there are mnany more with hard heads .
Thanks for the review, I'm still waiting for my He-Ro to arrive ;)
Nice Video. But most of the Figures on the website are sold out or "Currently Unavailable"... what else... So what sense does the whole shit make? It's fucking retarded! You can't even order in advance. I think they're just trying to make themself scarce. I'm pissed off like hell!
well...the figures sell out very quick. The day they go on sale...it's important to remember that and get your figures then. You can order them in advance...IF you buy the yearly membership. Then you're guranteed a figure each month
Don't get me wrong! What I'm tying to say is, that it's like putting a chunk of meat in front of a hungry dog on chain. But ooops!!, the chain is too short. Tough luck!
Or like Megan Fox in the TF-Movies: "Take a look at the sweetest thing you've ever seen in you life, but you will never be able to touch her, douchebag! HA HA!".
That's not fair!!
How about a "Yearly Membership" on Megan Fox! THAT would be awesome!!
Oh btw, don't know if you saw this or not but Matty just announced that they will be re-issuing many of the old figs (to include King Grayskull). So don't go broke on ebay trying to track them down unless you just can't wait. He-Man (with some corrections) and Skeletor will be re-issued in Nov. & Dec. respectively. I'm missing Beast Man, Hordak & Grayskull so I'll just wait for the eventual re-issues.
ya i saw that they're gonna be re-issuing them. I'm excited about it..cause they're doing minor fixes to the reissues. He-man and skeletor are the ones i'm really only interested in picking up as a re-issue. I don't mind spending the 30 bucks or so that a lot of the minor characters are going for. You bring up a good point about the subscription...with the bonus figures....battlecat is gonna be one such bonus figure...and he's not included. But i figure...the figures i dont like..i can sell
That's true. I was able to pick up a loose lot of Mer-Man, Zodac and Stratos for about $50 shipped. So there are deals to be had. On the other hand, I paid $42 for Faker shipped. That's still not too bad of a price though considering it was an exclusive and still MOC.
well he-ro...i got right from mattycollectors...so i paid like 30 bucks...my second figure will be man-at-amrs...which i won on ebay...MOC for 37 with free shipping...so that isn't horrible...i'm watching a few other auctions. He-man and skeletor though...i'll wait for the rereleases
Very cool. I actually just opened MAA...I can see why he sold out so fast...really nice figure! I decided against the subscription. For one, I'm not actually going to want every figure and for another, the sub. doesn't include the "bonus" figures. Which mean you will still end up on mattycollector and have to pay the extra shipping for the bonus fig since it's not included. I would like that club exclusive Wun-Dar fig though...might have to go to ebay for that one!
Great review. I've bought all of the MOTUC figures so far (except Man-at-Arms)... I WANT to open them, but I haven't done so... yet. I bought a SDCC He-Ro via ebay... but I'm still waiting for him to show up. *sigh*
Great review! It's nice to have another MOTUC reviewer on board. Pixel Dan is great but there's room for more! I initially stopped collecting after He-Man & Skeletor but recently got sucked back in with He-Ro. I've been able to pick up most (only missing 3 now) I missed. It truly is a great line that I think you will really enjoy. Please keep these MOTUC reviews coming!
oh they'll keep on coming. I've signed up for the 2010 membership...so i'll easily get those. The remainder of this year...i have to try and get when they release on the website...like i did with He-Ro. I have Man-at-arms on his way to me right now...then on the 16th i think it is...tri-clops comes out and i'll get him. It'll take a while cause these are pricey right now...but i'll get em :)
and yes...pixel dan is great and was the only reason i really started getting these figures. He sold me on them. Pictures are one thing...seeing them in motion are another..and he helped out a lot with that. I'm hoping some of my "notoriety" and "fame" for reviewing transformers stuff, helps bring more fans into the he-man world
Yeah, That's the Rumor as of now. He-Man is also getting released with "Battle Damage" action and Skeletor will probably get that variation too. I know at one point ToyGuru/Scott Neilietch (Brand Manager from Mattel) said a "Terror Claws" Skeletor is likely to see a release as well. All future versions of Characters will have some change to differentiate them from the first issue of the figure.
Wait till you get the rest of the figures. He-Ro is probably one of the weakest/least interesting figure so fart. The rest are AMAZING. I recommend Hordak and Mer-Man. He-Man is incredible too, but he's really pricey at the moment. They should be re-releasing him in the future.
actually...from what i read on mattycollectors website...he-man AND skeletor are going to be re-released with "fixes" done to the mold that the previous versions didn't have. He-man comes out in november and skeletor will be december.
Another toy that i'll have to buy because of you...
And that means: If you will continue, I will have to buy all of these New MOTU Toys...
Now, seriously:
Before you reviewed MOTU, I never even considered buying these new releases. But you sir are a reliable source if it comes to real toy value. And it is not the first time that I value your opinion.
Thanks for all your reviews! Keep up the good work!
i cannot thank you enough...i actually read this outloud to my girlfriend. So thank you. I'm particular when it comes to toys and things that have such a special place in my heart from my youth. So i do hope i enjoy these more...i believe i will. This is my first figure...but will not be my last
Cool Bio - I like how they blend both previous "continuities" In case those don't know, He-Ro was originally "King Greyskull" in the original Comics in the 80's (not the cartoon) - This New Continuity brings He-Ro and Greyskull together.
I don't mean to break your nostalgia, but that looks (to use your favorite term) retarded :-P A giant weight lifter in fancy armor who's the most powerful dude in the universe! He he...
well he-ro isn't the most powerful "dude" in the universe. He's the most powerful "sorcerer" in the universe. And look at most 80s cartoons...they're big and buff like this. It's just how they were done back then
Yeah, it's just like Transformers - it was a reflection of the Cold War. Optimus Prime was the red, white, and blue handsome robot who led an army of brave soldiers to combat the grey, ugly, iron curtain-ish Megatron and his "empire" of Decepticons. Same with Star Wars, and I'm guessing with this series as well. Weight lifting and being "strong and American" was big back then...I don't know I guess if I don't have nostalgic feelings for that time period (I wasn't born yet) I can't understand it.
no...some forums online have trading sections. But they don't offer the crystals seperatly to my knowledge. On top of that, as i said in the review, you have no idea what crystal you're getting till you open him up.
well tihs is an amazing time for a kid of the 80's , transformers, gi joe, thunder cats, voltron, he-man, theyre all coming back to life in the theatre
well sorry then...i'm still going to do transformers. But i've done other reviews besides transformers. Feel free to un-subscriber...i'd be better off without you
Well they could'ent call 'em male-man (mail-man)!! lol.
But seriously, if you wanna customize this a bit you can try to get raw garnet cristals for the staff/spire. They come in variuos colours: red (almandine), purple (pyrope), green (grossular). Shape is usually similar to the original but a real cristal would ad alot. Raw garnets aren't that expensive either.
air vents? why? XD i kinda liked that guy with the eyes popping out of his head from MotU. skeletor would be cool to own! have you seen the device label transformers?
i have blaster on pre-order :D the air vents are probably there (and this is only a educated guess) because a of adult collectors will keep these figures in their packaging. The airvents allow for fresh air to move in and out...so that the air inside the package doesn't get stale and make the figure inside brittle over time
yeah me too! blaster is the only one i thought was worth owning. the other ones looked wierd. i'd say that educated guess makes sense! i have a feeling rubber needs air. rubber bands tend to go bad if trapped in a bag XD
i've always wanted a blaster...and this new one fits with the classic line..much like the music label soundwave...but..blaster can hold g1 cassettes..so i'm liking that idea
yeah i always liked him! and perceptor. maybe we can look forward to more new "cassettes", like the new ravage. that would be awesome. i seriously want a rumble that is a bit more advanced!
*shaking fist* Curse you. I'm personally not a fan of his new re-jigged motuc bio...but what ya gonna do. His role has kinda been supplanted by King Grayskull. I shall receive this guy in about a month. urgh...god damn shipping.
ahhh you're the one nicole speaks of :P I don't think it's supplanted by the King...i think he's kind of meant to assist him. Don't tell me you like the story line of him being He-man's son...cause that's silly :P A month? ohh that's right...you're a international fella :P
Actually his original bio has him as the ancestor of he-man, which is a position now taken by King Greyskull due to the 2002 show. The idea of He-ro being his son was a failed pitch for a new he-man show that focused on King Adams son.also..HOLY SHIT MY SDCC HE-RO & Mattel Artbook literally just showed up at my door!
ahhh the ancestor of he-man...and now KG being his ancestor. I don't mind it too much...i think it's a neat twist. I of course am just now getting back into the He-man thing...i am very new to the "new" stuff...my fan knowledge is very limited. I'm coming back from not watching or following it since i was a kid watching the original series on tv. That being said...it seems like mattel is trying to impliment a "new" history for the figures...using pieces already established
Yea on the whole i'm happy with the new blended history of classic backstory+the 2002 bios. Some of the bits feel a bit forced but..oh well! Hey its a new MOTU line...i ain't complaining!
The one thing i liked about the 02 bios is...for the most part...the originals had no bios. At least in the filmation stuff. It wasn't until the introduction of She-ra that we started getting some solid backstory. I like how they tried doing that. And yes, some does seem forced...agreeed
It's nice seeing you do non-tf reviews. Good luck with the MOTCU line. it's so stressful buying these figures. I seriously have to set alarms and plan my schedule around getting these figures each month.
i was hoping someone would remember the squeezable heads :D i don't feel so bad now lol
I should have went into it more...he-ro was planned for a series after the original masters of the universe series in the 80s was canceled. His story...and history has been only recently really filled in
not really no....he's in the universe mostly as a add on....but never got much screen time. His bio and the history are all pretty much stories of eternia's past. He's just part of the puzzle...
awsome review! I remember the old episodes and i enjoyed the new ones too, 'cause it gave some more background to skeletor. this brings back a lot of memories. Thanx!
i actually liked the first live action movie...it wasn't like the original story of he-man at all..but for it's time...1987, it was a good movie i thought. From what i've heard..they are doing a new masters of the universe movie :)
actually...i did....and i have to say i agree with everything you pretty much said....it's a guilty pleasure. For me, like you, seeing it the theater i had a lot of hopes...all of which basically failed. The story was so far from anything i had known...but for some reason...i was and still am drawn to the movie. To me it's one of the classics that just..appeal to me..despite it's bad story lol...not the worse movie...but not the best...i'd agree totaly with your rating...a bit above average
did i stop doing transformer reviews when i did ninja turtle reviews...or wall-e reviews...or super hero reviews...or star trek reviews....or terminator reviews???
Hey Paul since you were a big 80's kid I figure you would know of and like Ghostbusters. Well if you do I got good news. Mattel is making 6 inch figures based on the live action movies comming out in October!!! I know this is really off subject but I am SOOOOOOOO excited for it since I am a die hard Ghosbusters fan!!!
mattel should do thundercats aswell

Weight lifting and being "strong and American" was big back then...I don't know I guess if I don't have nostalgic feelings for that time period (I wasn't born yet) I can't understand it.
uum6 2 years ago
very true. Wait til you're 30 and look back at some of the things you liked as a kid...then you'll understand :)
optibotimus 2 years ago
how do you get the other power crystals? are they sold separately on the site?
PyjamaPrime 2 years ago
no...some forums online have trading sections. But they don't offer the crystals seperatly to my knowledge. On top of that, as i said in the review, you have no idea what crystal you're getting till you open him up.
optibotimus 2 years ago
well tihs is an amazing time for a kid of the 80's , transformers, gi joe, thunder cats, voltron, he-man, theyre all coming back to life in the theatre

i love master of the universe!!
i own like 10 figures, the old ones!!
mk1212wq 2 years ago
sorry mate but i hate he-man i subbed for transformers
puppetman27 2 years ago
well sorry then...i'm still going to do transformers. But i've done other reviews besides transformers. Feel free to un-subscriber...i'd be better off without you
optibotimus 2 years ago
Do you know why it's called He-man?
Well they could'ent call 'em male-man (mail-man)!! lol.
But seriously, if you wanna customize this a bit you can try to get raw garnet cristals for the staff/spire. They come in variuos colours: red (almandine), purple (pyrope), green (grossular). Shape is usually similar to the original but a real cristal would ad alot. Raw garnets aren't that expensive either.
:D

that's not a bad idea at all......

air vents? why? XD i kinda liked that guy with the eyes popping out of his head from MotU. skeletor would be cool to own! have you seen the device label transformers?
JediJennifer 2 years ago
i have blaster on pre-order :D the air vents are probably there (and this is only a educated guess) because a of adult collectors will keep these figures in their packaging. The airvents allow for fresh air to move in and out...so that the air inside the package doesn't get stale and make the figure inside brittle over time
optibotimus 2 years ago
yeah me too! blaster is the only one i thought was worth owning. the other ones looked wierd. i'd say that educated guess makes sense! i have a feeling rubber needs air. rubber bands tend to go bad if trapped in a bag XD
JediJennifer 2 years ago
i've always wanted a blaster...and this new one fits with the classic line..much like the music label soundwave...but..blaster can hold g1 cassettes..so i'm liking that idea
optibotimus 2 years ago
yeah i always liked him! and perceptor. maybe we can look forward to more new "cassettes", like the new ravage. that would be awesome. i seriously want a rumble that is a bit more advanced!

*shaking fist* Curse you. I'm personally not a fan of his new re-jigged motuc bio...but what ya gonna do. His role has kinda been supplanted by King Grayskull. I shall receive this guy in about a month. urgh...god damn shipping.
jiidee 2 years ago
ahhh you're the one nicole speaks of :P I don't think it's supplanted by the King...i think he's kind of meant to assist him. Don't tell me you like the story line of him being He-man's son...cause that's silly :P A month? ohh that's right...you're a international fella :P
optibotimus 2 years ago
Actually his original bio has him as the ancestor of he-man, which is a position now taken by King Greyskull due to the 2002 show. The idea of He-ro being his son was a failed pitch for a new he-man show that focused on King Adams son.also..HOLY SHIT MY SDCC HE-RO & Mattel Artbook literally just showed up at my door!
jiidee 2 years ago
ahhh the ancestor of he-man...and now KG being his ancestor. I don't mind it too much...i think it's a neat twist. I of course am just now getting back into the He-man thing...i am very new to the "new" stuff...my fan knowledge is very limited. I'm coming back from not watching or following it since i was a kid watching the original series on tv. That being said...it seems like mattel is trying to impliment a "new" history for the figures...using pieces already established
optibotimus 2 years ago
just showed up at your door huh? HAHAHA see i'm good luck :P hope you like that guy :P
optibotimus 2 years ago
Yea on the whole i'm happy with the new blended history of classic backstory+the 2002 bios. Some of the bits feel a bit forced but..oh well! Hey its a new MOTU line...i ain't complaining!
jiidee 2 years ago
The one thing i liked about the 02 bios is...for the most part...the originals had no bios. At least in the filmation stuff. It wasn't until the introduction of She-ra that we started getting some solid backstory. I like how they tried doing that. And yes, some does seem forced...agreeed

It's nice seeing you do non-tf reviews. Good luck with the MOTCU line. it's so stressful buying these figures. I seriously have to set alarms and plan my schedule around getting these figures each month.

It looks real nice. The paint looks like it's a good quality.
I never knew about he-ro.
So this is actualy realy cool.
Yeah I remember the scuezeble heads. LOL.
thedeicide 2 years ago
i was hoping someone would remember the squeezable heads :D i don't feel so bad now lol
I should have went into it more...he-ro was planned for a series after the original masters of the universe series in the 80s was canceled. His story...and history has been only recently really filled in
optibotimus 2 years ago
Interesting. This background story is it told in the new he-man cartoon?
I haven't seen any of the new cartoon.
thedeicide 2 years ago
not really no....he's in the universe mostly as a add on....but never got much screen time. His bio and the history are all pretty much stories of eternia's past. He's just part of the puzzle...
optibotimus 2 years ago
awsome review! I remember the old episodes and i enjoyed the new ones too, 'cause it gave some more background to skeletor. this brings back a lot of memories. Thanx!
apocalypseprime2000 2 years ago
the first attempt at a live action he-man failed MISERABLY, do you know if there doing another live action he man film anytime soon?
triplejpm 2 years ago
i actually liked the first live action movie...it wasn't like the original story of he-man at all..but for it's time...1987, it was a good movie i thought. From what i've heard..they are doing a new masters of the universe movie :)
optibotimus 2 years ago
Did you check out my review of the 1987 He-Msn film? nice review BTW too.
phantassm 2 years ago
actually...i did....and i have to say i agree with everything you pretty much said....it's a guilty pleasure.
