I think the answer she was looking for is it's all about a good mic, compressor and the preamp. that will give you a fat lead vocal. so many people think it's about overdubbing vocal over vocal over vocal. That WILL just sound like a choir. Lower the level and Pan the BG vocals and eq down the body of the background vocals. (which is the mid range). There are secrets to doing BG vocals in the performance also, but that's enough free info.
