They should think about making it so middle finger to move the mouse, then tap to the left of it for left mouse click, or tap to the right of it for right mouse click. Then the index and ring fingers can be the clicking fingers. That would make a big more sense.

I recently bought a Toshiba M750-113 tablet pc and I've just returned it, because the touch screen didn't work. It has the ability to put you very nervous!!!!! As you seen in this video, the especialist has a lot of problems to do very simple actions, imagine to do more precise actions... Finally you have to connect a mouse, to work in normal conditions. Toshiba people, you must do things well done before selling them!

Hi, this is not multi-touch. Multi-Touch is defined as a touch panel which may accept multiple fingers input. i.e. if a product is multitouch, you may use more than 1 finger (e.g. 2 fingers) to manipulate action, examples are: rotating a photo with 2 fingers, or resizing a photo with 2 fingers. Please correct the title to avoid misleading. Thanks. :)

but i have it.

and every update seems to make it a little better.

and hopefully microsoft will learn from there mistakes and create a real os X competetor in the future.

but untill then, i dont think everybody has 1000+ to spend on a mac.

so if you need to get a pc, vista really isnt THAT bad for general computing tasks.

The "multi" is the ability to use an active digitizer and and a passive one for finger tapping. I've actually got a TabletPC that supports this (Lenovo X60 with multitouch) and it works pretty well. The pen is obviously better for fine navigation with the hover but it is very gratifying to physically press the start button or close a window. I turned the touch pointer off though since I prefer the press and hold for rightclick.

I'm no stranger to tablets; was technical director on the first demo for Microsoft's Windows for Pens (on a Gridpad around 15 years ago) and have been developing visual music controller with the WinTab driver.

Opinion: shaking pointer is interesting but finger mouse sucks. Couldn't see ripple effect with stylus, so probably isn't accessible.

Hybrid hand resting on screen while writing with pen is cool.

MS is doing great work on Multitouch in the lab - you guys should get together.

It's called multi-touch because the screen can be used with either an active digitizer pen, or just a finger. Digitizer pens are nice to have because it usually means that, when the pen in near the screen, your hand wont accidentally cause vectoring or "stray-line-making" which would happen with normal touch screens. Previously, laptops with digitizer pen input didn't let you use your fingers to use the screen, so having both is more practical. Multi-touch and touch screen aren't the same.
