  • That Jazz sounds freaking THICK. Great playing!

  • Nice groove man, solid and steady player, love it

  • Thats sick you dont know the bass player and still slap quality lines. Paul Jackson....

  • Thats sick you dont know the bass player and still slap quality lines. Paul Jackson....

  • That's Wah Wah Watson on GUITAR! Your playing is perfect however. Paul Jackson played the bass on that album. Excellent work either way.

  • @stratcat944...you mean paul jackosn, Jr., the guitarist???

  • @afrosensuous Nope. Google PaulJacksonBass. Stupid YouTube won't let me post the URL to his Web site. There's a discography listing all his work with Herbie Hancock there.

  • Great work sir. And a great tune. I like slap bass when it's groovy like this. I hate it when it's just a whole load of showing off with no real point. Same with shredding on the guitar. Can't see why playing x number of notes per second makes someone skillful!

  • Thank you very much for the great transcriptions on your web site!! I'm a trumpet player starting to take up bass and I am working hard to develop a technique similar to yours. Once my technique is happening, I think I'll really enjoy working on your transcriptions. OMG...thank you!!!!

  • @donrogo haha i play trumpet and bass too

  • nice compression, important for slap

  • Nice playing man! excellent track.

I've checked on those links you've posted and i couldn't find the transcription of this, im really looking for this sheet/tab!

it would be great if u could tell me where i can find those.

anyways, thanks for the vid, keep them coming!

  • yo nice slap dude!

  • wow is very good!!!

  • i that the fender jazz bass american standard?

  • Now you're in your element...MUCH BETTER THAN YOUR "STOMP" PLAYALONG! More of this please!

  • woah that's crazy thanks hank!

  • fantastic

  • Hey isn't this Paul Jackson on this album and the bass part sounds like Goo Goo from Watsons solo album only faster

  • I always thought it was Paul too, but on the credits, Wah Wah played bass. Ray Parker Jr wrote it too, so I guess he took over the funky guitar duties

  • i love your playing the more i watch man, you are an awesome basist!

  • Yeeessss! great!!!!

  • Man you are such a great player and overall musician, but I don't like your slap style; the "parallel thumb" style that doesn't allow expansion to double thumbing or such. But still great playing!

  • I actually do a lot of double thumbing when I slap - sort of in the Larry Graham style, as articulate as possible. I'm really not much of a slapper though and don't get into the super fast, noodly stuff.

  • Your style is just plain incredible, was really surprised seeing this because I've watched other Bass musician videos that have thousands of votes and aren't as nearly as good as this.

    This one goes on Favorites.

  • Love your style dude. I've been waiting on you to throw up another video, and it was well worth the wait. Thanks for all the notation too by the way.

  • Nice and beefy! I play a MIM Jazz deluxe and am finding it's stock preamp sterile. Which version of the audere are you using?

  • That's the JZ3 - two volumes plus stacked bass/treble, with the "Z-Mode" impedance switch.

  • Nice, I love your bass

  • dude you're great, is that fender 2008 edition?

  • Nope, it's a '94 Mexican, with Duncan Vintage J pickups and the Audere pre.

  • mate, you are one talented bassist!

  • thanks!
