"Out of sight"......gosh I loved Zappa's creativity, his intelligence and his wit! He sure would have enjoyed ripping up today's politicians and he would have been a prime presidential candidate! Common sense and the ability to realize that we are all imperfect human beings...in my opinion, that trait goes along way! RIP Frank...you were one of a kind!
one of the best songs of fz. among all the other best songs. what i also like about fz is that he never kept to the script. look at the black guitarist when fz sings she is a republican.
The 84 band was cool, very synth heavy but that was the sound frank was after. Great band except for Bobby Martin, great vocalist But giant ego. from what i understand he was one of the main perpetrators in the demise of the 88 band. Apparently everyone decided they hated scott thunis' guts.
one of my favorite songs played by one of my favorite bands. whether it's zappa holding the raggety ann doll, ike, ray, and bobby singing some great vocal parts, scott thunes (the bass player) and alan acting like crazies, or when zappa changes the helen reddy lyric 2 twisted sister, this is an awesome performance and says "yes, humor belongs in music."
I can see why. But keep in mind the '84 band was meant to sound like a "plastic" group in many ways. Notice there's no acoustic percusion involved. It was a venture; a tinseltown comedy rock band. One thing I did like about this band was the inclusion of Ike Willis, Ray White and Bobby Martin in the same band. Great vocals on this tour!
HAHA ... didn't know there was this dvd with Japanese subtitles on .. whowever did this tried their best trying to translate, of course not at 100 percent accuracy.

Bozzio was never in The Mothers of Invention. He was hired on after Zappa disbanded them...
And you're crazy if you think Patrick O'Hearn is better than Scott Thunes is. To each their own I guess...

Bozzio was hired for the 1975 Mothers with Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke, Bruce Fowler, Tom Fowler and Denny Walley. They recorded Bongo Fury.

I liked them just fine. It's nice to change once in a while.
Also, what's the name of the bass player again? I heard it a while ago but forgot...
