  • I always have an orgasm when I hear from 3:39 to 3:45

  • These guys are TALENTED!!!!

  • I was at this Big Day Out. Muse was the reason i was there and they did not disappoint. They still my #1 band and always will... Go Muse!! You Rock my fucking world!!!!

  • 5:45

Can anyone explain me how he makes that noise? =O

  • @Jovink321 MATT DOES IT WITH THE TOP OF THE STRINGS =) HE IS A GENIUS

  • @Jovink321 He plays the strings between the nut and the tuner with lots of distortion and I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I guess it vibrates the strings' really high-pitched harmonics.

  • @HoodedSword its not that its lots of distortion.. his head stock and nut allow some vibrations to pass thru to his pickups which are really really high pitched. you could do it on clean guitar with that headstock. but it works the best with that head stock then with the stratocaster head stock

  • @musefreak122 Thanks for clearing that up.

I've seen Tom Morello do it with his Telecaster a lot.

I can do it with my Epi Les Paul but yeah I think it's a lot easier with the 6-a-side headstocks.

And when he does it on HAARP is sounds insane, I can't figure that one out. Sounds like it has whammy with it but he's not near his pedalboard and he doesn't touch the Kaoss pad or anything.

  • @HoodedSword

Watch the video again. He was messing around on his whammy.

  • @SUP3RMA55IVE He can't have been; he was nowhere near his pedal board and the Delorean doesn't have a midi thing to operate the whammy remotely...

  • @HoodedSword

Watch 3:45. His leg was operating the whammy.

  • @SUP3RMA55IVE Yeah he uses the whammy in the solo, but I was talking about 5:45, when he strikes the tops of the strings during the outro riff.

  • @HoodedSword

Thats not the whammy. Thats just hitting the strings behind the nut. Matt usually does this to create this screeching sound.

  • @SUP3RMA55IVE *facepalm* That's what I've been saying all along!! I was explaining to someone else how he made that noise from hitting behind the nut, and then you replied to my comment with "Watch the video again. He was messing around on his whammy." Gah! lol

  • @HoodedSword

    Okay whatever....

Matt is god. End of story :p

  • @SUP3RMA55IVE lol agreed

  • who is in matts t shirt?

  • @Brandon18valensi Matt is in Matt's t-shirt.

(sorry for being a smart arse lol)

  • anyone else noticed him breathing throughout the piano bit?

  • Hahaha look at chris's face at 6:00

    I love muse.

  • did anyone notice his guitar cut out at 4:49

  • This is just fucking crazy!!

  • that guitar solo is pure talent !!!!

  • metallica is nothing compared to muse btw, just saying

  • nice

  • @EasygoingBird watch a pantera concert if you want epicness based on how hard they rock out :P

  • What the hell is that noise he does at 5:33?! Is that just ridiculous feedback because he's holding the guitar way too close to the amp, or is it like the pickups responding to the amp's electronics?? Sounds awesome XD

  • @HoodedSword yup pretty much

  • @HoodedSword Turn your phase 90 pedal on up to between 3-5 o'clock, then put your guitar up against the amp for the feed back. Depending on the amp and where you position the guitar around the amp, the tone will change a bit... so have fun with it

  • @themikey Thanks man, although I don't have a Phase 90. I have a multi effects pedal with a phaser effect in it though, I might have a bit of an experiment with that. I already get lots of fun out of just switching on the phaser on at a slow rate and listening to the feedback go nuts lol

  • woooh go muse, nice job that was awesome

  • let me tell you I was athe Adelaide BDO and Muse have not played as good as this since. The solo here was the best Ive seen from New born. I remember he did the splits a few times... he just flew around because there were no lights to impress everyone instead like in Haarp. This was the good times when Matt played like it was a proper rock band. Now we get jingles like starlight. oh well. I remember reading matt saying that this australian tour was one of their best times. So relaxed.

  • and if you compare the live performances of songs like new born or stockholm syndrome from back then and now...they don´t sound "distorted" anymore...more like synth to create a fake distortion...

and they play new born way too slow when the verse kicks in...i don´t know, why they made that choice...it makes new born a bit boring

  • well, i think the problem is: Morgan now plays the piano part of new born, and I think with Matt playing the piano part sounds different and much better!!:)

  • This song was going so well until that dumb little preview popped up on the bottom.

    "Still to come...

    MAGIC DIRT, THE SLEEPY JACKSON

    and GERLING"

  • 4.00 is he slightly covering with his palm or pressing?

  • slightly its called a palm mute

  • this is just me theorising, but could he of accidentally switched his pickup selector with his arm moving upwards after his big downstroke, to halfway, or to one which had volume 0, and it cut out until he fixed it? Or perhaps he trod on his distortion pedal by accident? rofl.

  • generally the switches just change the sound not volume (there are nobs for that) so probly not

  • Usually yes, but he might have individual volume per pickups (ala morello). No idea why he would have some of his pickups set to 0 volume though.

  • yeh he does design his own guitars so who knows

  • nothing beats the kroq 2004 version, tht is jus epic

  • That sort of stuff happens at BDO. In 2007 at the gold coast, guitar was out of tune and cut out, with him having to swap guitars mid-song.

  • Was it this concert that Matt fell over the amp during Bliss? :L

  • 4:48

    kept his composure.

  • Did his string snap or something?

  • I can't think of what happened, you could kind of hear his playing when it cut out. I'm not sure.

  • He might've knocked one of the knobs on the guitar; it kinda looks like he reaches down a bit right as the sound comes back.

  • amazing guitar solo

  • I wish i could get all the live performances of my favorite muses like this one. The professional recordings are so much less fun than this. Matt's having so much fun with his guitar in this. You won't see that on an iTunes song that doesn't include the "(Live)" label.

  • Matt kann einfach alles<3

  • Fucking brilliant! There are no words to describe their ingeniousness! I can't wait to see them live in October.

  • I couldn't get tickets.

  • Me neither :(

  • i like this solo

  • buenes noches

    muse is the sex =}

  • I love this song.....

  • una masa los tipos estos

  • that solo is possibly better than the one on HAARP, and that is saying something... omfg muse are sooo awesome, best modern band in the world XD

  • I jizzed in my pants at least a dozen times during the solo alone, probably 100 throughout the video

  • Muse is fucking amazing!

  • @lDisconnected like all the other ;-)

  • @lDisconnected like the other ;-)

  • wasn't this where metallica were watching off to the side?

  • yes, but where is the video of that. remember seeing it ages ago. and at the end of the gig they met him and were well impressed with the show, theres a video on here of tat aswll

  • @Ethan314159 as a matter of fact they were, matt got to meet them in person

  • @Ethan314159 yes

  • @Ethan314159 Yeah i think it was

  • @Ethan314159 Yup. And I quote "This is Muse. They have a lot of good songs. They have a few bad ones too. This is one of the bad ones" they were playing Unintended at the time.

  • @Misishaxi No it wasnt Muse playing he was mistaken, it was actually dandy warholes or something like that.

  • @Ethan314159 yep!! :)

  • @Ethan314159 indeed, with james and kirk HEADBANGING

  • i swear, one of these days, chris's head is just gonna roll on the ground

  • his guitar power stops @ 4:47

  • No, he probably hit some button on that huge control panel :P

  • whoa what did he do when the whammy effects were going on? that's an awesome guitar!

  • You talking about during the solo? Or at the very beginning?

  • fuzz at the start after the keyboard and whammy during the guitar solo!

he's a genius, the best artist of last 10 years!

muse r the best band of last 10 years!

  • i never get tired of this song, especially live.

  • Matthew is a fucking god!!

  • This has already been well established.
