when you shot a movie it can take, like, 1 year or maybe less... and that stage is called "main photography"... after the main photografy is ready there is another stage and its called "post-produccion". thats why it takes longer to release a movie after the "main photography" is done
"It can't be a uniform John! No! Get over to the wall sir!! Feds called in a favour!! All you gotta do is pick up a kid from Jersey! Drive him down to DC! How hard can that be huh? Can't be that hard can it? No gotta be a senior detective!
This was cool, I was working in the KPMG tower (brown building on the side). They must have gone through this scene at least 35 times. I don't have the patience to work on a set, they spent about an hour moving lights and shades around, then move forward 10ft and repeat. I also have no idea why they would film in the tunnel under Grand Ave, there is another tunnel close by that doesn't smell like 10M gallons of homeless pee.
"Blanks" or "caps" as they are sometimes called. I worked with a special effects crew on a few films (mostly horror) over the years and at no time is anyone ever allowed to bring a real firearm on to the set, much less use one in production. A major no-no in the mainstream film industry. It's the Special effects guys/gals that make it look/sound real on film....
what about in like john woo movies where a six shot revolver is able to fire off thousands of round before it needs to reload? if they used blanks they'd have the same ammo capacity... are they just sf muzzle flahes?
Sound effects are added in later. Chances are the actor is not even "firing" the weapon. Just pointing and "acting" the part.Worked on Robocop3 in Atlanta Robo's weapon was to fire 3 round bursts with a total of about 40 rounds before reloading - was just a motified Beretta 9MM 15 shot replica which sounded like a cap gun during actual filming. "Machine gun" Sound effects were added in later to make it sound realistic. Just one of the many tricks of the trade.
modified/not motifed or whatever I spelled.. Also ment to say in alot of cases the "weapon" is not actually being fired. In cases such as this they are using blanks/caps and sound effects will be added in later to make it sound more realistic. Just watch this clip and the "finished" scene from the movie and you can hear the difference.
Thats movie magic... Also why it takes sooo long to "complete" the film for public release after the actual filming has been finished. The average movie is actually "shot" about one year before it is released to the public. Some have taken longer.
Yes, the production "guards" (weak ass PA's) didn't let me shoot pictures from the street. So I got on top of my building and mocked him as I shot this video.
i like this version of the movie better.

0:50 for those people who are wondering what gunshots sound like. Its nothing like fireworks or a car back firing...

That Eurocopter AS-350 belongs to Sun Coast Helicopters. Even though this film sets in DC, the chopper scenes are mostly in LA.

I kinda figured that bit out there by myself on why it takes so long. In the end all makes for a good movie so all good. Damn sure did for this one.
