  • I used to hear the French version and this one rings strange for my ears but it's beautiful.

I think that Garou has no rival as Quasimodo.

  • rien que de la beauté

  • A very powerful piece.

  • amazing effort thank you so much, but did Tina Arena sing all the songs in notre dame de paris in English??

  • @mooomooo7 Well, yes, she was one of the actresses playing Esmeralda. Though I can't remember whether all my English NDdP vids are with Tina.

  • this so is stupid i hate it

  • "Esmeralda have you left me...." okay, one of te rare instance that te English Lyrics is better than the French. wen Garou sang that part....awwwwwww I want to give him a hug!

  • The first time listening to the English version I've truly felt something. The rest of the songs aren't like the French, but this is powerful.

  • This is the only song in the whole musical where the english version is better than the french....

  • *hugs the cute little moirails and wishes they weren't both DEAD.* :(

  • She didn't want Quasimodo, but now she needs him... but it's only a song, I know...

It's beautifull though!! (sorry, don't know how to wirte though... I don't know it's good this way) Btw, Quasimodo's voice is really beautifull, I like that

  • I think that English version is the better after Italian version (but.. I'm Italian, so.. xD).

The Quasimodo and Esmeralda's voices are beautiful, much expressive!

But the pronunciation of the names are very strange! Ahaha but funny!

And... sorry for my English >.< I know, it isn't good xDD

  • Oh my God. I might actually like this version better than the French. That's not definite. But I might. For some reason this one made me want to cry. 'Where are you, my Quasimodo?' and 'There's a priest who counts your heartbeats.' Ooh!

  • @Abhilynn I mean, the version of this song.

  • This has got to be my favorite song of the entire musical, besides Belle and the Finale.

  • Tina's voice is wonderful. It blends so well with Garou's.

"There is a priest that counts your heart beats" - I agree, it is powerful and must penetrate every man's heart.

  • Tina sings amazingly well, though i don't think she fits for a character like esmeralda! it's strange, but still her voice is just wonderful! i love her a lot

  • I'm a slave of French NDDP but also I'm in love in Garou and I love his voice and his music in particular.

And I found this song really amazing in English as well (but French still rocks :))

  • even though this song is supposed to be sad its incredibly beautiful. I love it! !!!!

  • lol its seems garou is really over doing it on the A's. i know hes trying to make it sound english but.... whoa, hes making the language sound less graceful and elegant then it already is,

can't even touch the french version. tinas good as well, not as good as helene.... but good

  • "There's a priest that counts your heart beats if he comes near you you must run"

say what you want about the english version that line is beautiful! xxx

  • @christinedaae87 im french and find the english version beautiful !!!

    love this language !!

  • @christinedaae87

I agree. This is lovely version and that´s my favorite part.

  • I'm not a huge fan of the English version of NDDP since a lot of the songs sounded awkward but this is really good :3

  • Garou sounds almost like he has an (American) Southern accent. It's cute.

  • At least the english versions give you an exact account of what they are saying... (not bad!) :)

  • I like this song allot it is full of words out of the book if u listen carefully. Except she likes Quasi too much. In the book Esmiralda is a bit of a bitch.

  • I love the French version so much that I think English can't touch that. But this song... WOW! The lyrics are beautiful! Love this song!

  • Do you know where I could get a CD with this English version. I looked on Amazon, but they only have the original French soundtracks

  • I bought an English version CD but it contains only 17 songs (also the one you're looking for).

Anyway, I've just checked and it's on sale on ebay!

  • Interesting, but this is probably my favourite of the english translations. Lyrics flow really nicely, and paint lovely images.

  • "There's a priest who counts your heartbeats" lol, I love this line! it shows perfect how Quasimodo is worried about Frollo's lust for the girl. btw, donfrollo2, I love your image...it's sooo funny!

  • hey guys i'm looking for the karaoke to this song and i cant find it for anything i would really love help...thanks guys

  • tina's voice is stronger, but helene voice has a better gipsyvoice

  • plz tell me the name of this singer

  • garou something

  • Tina Arena - Esmeralda

    Garou - Quasimodo

    In this version lol XD

  • tina sings it even better live and i just wonder why do u think that gipsy voice is too different form usual, it's pretty the same...

  • i like this song because it is very pretty in french and english. And also it reminds me of my two characters, this song fits thm perfectly. I love it! Thankz for posting this.

  • "there's a priest who counts your heart beats!" that really sums up Frollo and puts a chilish image in my head of Frollo with a stetescope trying to count Esméralda's heart beats shouting "1, 2, 3,..... etc, etc.!"

sorry for that image it's your fault Quaismodo you gave it to me with your lycers

  • oh sorry i meant "childish" image

  • omg when i read what you wrote i saw that too! lol that is really funny!

  • Hey, Bubba, it is Garou. He sings in both the French and London original casts.

How can you not recognize that magnificent raspy voice of his <333

Though I have to admit I love it much more when he sings in French.

  • it is garou, and he sings great both in english and french

  • Just so everyone knows, this isn't Garou singing the English version.

And this is one of the better English translations from the musical in my opinion.

  • tina arena has a much stronger voice .... and the tone of her voice is a lot more persuasive

  • Beautiful music. Garou is amazing.

  • I prefer the french version. it´s more beautiful than in english!

  • I prefer english singer's voice much more then Helena's. Its so impressive.

  • I agree. Helene's is weak and breathy.

  • I dont actually like Tina´s voice, I prefer Helene Segara. But Garou is an amazing singer.

  • my gosh. garou is so amazing.

"there's a priest who counts your heartbeats,"

    i love that line.

  • Though, the English translation is not as good (I have seen better). It's still wonderful to see this linked with the French one. Simply, one of the greatest songs of the musical. :D

  • Wonderful! Both the melody and the lyrics!

  • This is so beautiful

    Oy, can you provide lyrics?

  • I don't care for Tina, but she sounds pretty here

  • Thanks, i've been waiting to hear this!

  • Thank you so muh for posting this. This is my favourite NDDP song so it was great to hear it in english. Tina Arena is has an amazing voice. Glad Garou's back, though.

  • I can understand this song better now..thanks for sharing this video..

  • Tina Arena and Garou have sung it so worderful.i like it in french and english both.

  • Wow! yay thanks so much this is brilliant!!
