  • how the hell did i get here?!

  • sorry i just started so i was confused

  • where did you get otto

  • where did you get otto

  • Your pionii are so mellow ... too cute!

  • are you high ?

    no hair dryer dude

  • @BettyMasterPain

    Two things.

First, this was mostly in jest.

Second, in the winter, hair dryers are a must if you are going to bathe them. The trick is to not have it on hot, and not be too close.

    Thanks for watching anyway.

  • hahahaahhaahahh the name of the vid made me laugh

  • really enjoyed your vid....lol....so sorry about your loss but you seem like a great dad....maybe time to bring another home. Again great vid....huge smiles

  • lolz fun taking showers with your bird when i had an macaw i took a shower with him but he pooped on me so i stoped :) lol i enjoyed watching this make more with your birds

  • @HorseRidingIsOurLife

Thanks. I wish I could make more. My pride and Joy, Otto the Blue Head, flew away two years ago. Since then we have reduced our bird numbers to just two. A parakeet and a lovebird.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    :)

  • I have a maroon bellied conure, senagol (summet like that) and a cockatiel :)

  • I appreciate the comments.

Understand that this video was for fun. I never used soap on them. Usually -when there was no video camera- after their turn was up I would put them up on a shower rod until I was finished.

Also, I only used the hair dryer on winter days - if ever.

  • @bowlingballout

Siendo así, me parece bien. Me alegro por esos loritos tan guapos!!!

  • i love you and i love your birds! my cockatiel passed away this weekend, she would shower with me. my friends have been very sympathetic but theyve never had birds so i dont think they really understand just how much a little bird can touch your heart. my bird like the blow dryer too!

  • They are SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bastardo

    pobres animales

el ver tu video m causo repulsion

Eso no se les hace a los loros

    si kieres bañarte

bañate solo Hijo de P. bezamelooo .l.

  • I'm glad I made you sick.... IDIOT!

    Now you're blocked.

Like a lousy kick in soccer, you are BLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKED

  • @bowlingballout yeah!! BLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKEDBLOCKE

    HAHAHA

  • not a very good idea to be washing your hair with shampoo with birds on your shoulder considering soap fromt he shampoo can make them sick irritate their feathers cause dryness etc....

  • This was for entertainment purposes only. When I shower with the birds the water is tepid and there is no soap.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I had a wonderful Dusky Pionus who loved to have a shower also, I have great pics of her in the shower,. I think she was the quietest sweetest bird My first love is the talkers, I have two yellow napes who sing and talk, Bear just has to hear the water running and he says Want shower, Woo Hoo Shower!

    ,

  • Oh I miss Otto but I don't miss TJ (that bastard) :D

  • Hey Bud, great video!!! I need your help, I am about to buy the same exact parrot, but I need to know if they talk. Please help!!!

    Thank you

  • The blue head never talked and the maxi sort of would when I wasn't looking. I suggest you check the link in the description box. It's to a great pionus website and forum. The people there are very friendly and helpful.

  • Great video! Creative and funny. I love seeing your parrots. I used to have a Pionus, but had to give her away because of my allergies. I miss her. She used to love water. I never showered w/her, but would give her spray bottle showers with warm water. Pionus parrots are affectionate and sweet. Mine was so smart that I trained her to step up and to poo on command!

  • The vid quality looks great.

  • i plan on getting my 1st bird soon. what temperature is best for them in teh shower?

  • Truly you need to take what most humans would consider "a cool shower". I don't know how to gage shower temps so I'll say that it is easier in the Summer on a warm/hot day. To me the water should be the ambient temp. So if your outside temp is 85 or 90 you could get the shower in that range.

If you have it at 85 or 90 on a cold day I'd be worried that they may get chilled once they get out.

I always find it best to let them fluff up in front of a sunny window for a bit afterward.

  • You are a natural in front of the camera. Funny too.

  • Hi Bowling...

You are a funny guy, and your parrots are cute.

I had a Grey Cheeked parakeet who would fly into the shower to get soaked with me. Unfortunately, he flew away one day and I could never find him.

But I had another GCP for 21 years 'til he died. I rescued two more from bad homes. They are elderly, but a lot of fun.

You can check them out on my YT page.

    TT,

    Dan

  • Dan

Sadly the blue head in this video flew away in the Spring. I know the pain of losing a bird that you are fond of.

  • Yeah; I had one fly away, one died on my birthday a few weeks after I bought him, one I accidentally stepped on (quick & not gory death), and Wiley, who died of old age at 21.

Now, Jake appears on his last legs. At least it's not cancer, according to the vet.

I was looking at Pionus videos because of a cute youngster I saw at the local Petsmart for $100. I'd feel like a traitor, though, buying him while Jake is still around.

    Fun to shop, though.

I'll look at your other videos.

  • This is sooo cute and crafty...no wonder that you are proud of it :-))

  • oh wow!

I am totally amazed that they liked the shower, but my husband just reminded me that of course they would naturally live in the rain forest. Thanks so much for attaching this video here :-)

    x hugs x

  • lol looks like you have a lot of fun with TJ and otto. I have been looking into getting a Pionus and urs look great!

  • Thanks Ayame

No matter what bird you get I'd suggest hand fed or raised... I have a delightful lovebird that isn't nippy in the least; he was hand fed.

  • can i touch your pionus little boy?

  • I have a 3 year old genious maxi named Mojo Diego Montez...he is incredible!! I love this video and Mojo and I have watched it several times...thanks!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Tell Mojo Diego Montez hello from us.

  • Will you marry me???

  • De Nada - Mojo is listening..

  • i used to have pionus envy, but yesterday i got a big pionus! i took him in the shower this morning because he smelled (?) and his soaked him good. his colors are so vibrant now! and he smells alot better! great vid.

  • omfg its so funnnnny!

    =]]

  • Thanks Quam

  • Too funny! Are you part Pionus? Hugs from Max - Maximillian Pionus, Abby - Blueheaded Pionus and Rusty Bronzwing Pionus

  • LOL I have a friend with 2 pionus parrots :) Cute vid!

  • I found this to be very entertaining. I like the music too.

  • Otto & TJ are both looking good as always. You do such a great job with your videos J. :)

  • Those are lucky birdies!

  • Love this video! Am thinking about adding to my flock, and can't decide between a pionus or a senegal parrot, wotcha reckon?

  • I have both. I have two pionus that came from the same breeder and fledged together, they are good friends. Both dislike the sennie very much. Though my favorite is the Blue Head Pi, if I had to have only one bird as a companion I'd go with the Sennie. He is rather a sweetie.

  • thanks! am still at the wishing and dreaming stage - haven't broken the news to my two cockatiels yet either!

  • Hahahaha!!!!

  • なんて慣れた子でしょう!!

    かわいい!!

  • 本当にありがとう

    ☺

  • Molto divertente :-)

Si devono fidare tantissimo di te ,se ti permettono di adoperare il fon !

    Complimenti!!!!

  • i wish i could say i have showered with animals noo wait a minute some of my x-boys..... anywho very very funny vid...

  • The parakeets I had in the past loved "taking a bath" in a lettuce leave full of water. It was sooo nice to watch them having fun. Your lovely birds seem to like a shower so much, too! Very nice video! :)

  • Well done! Great video! We have 6 peach-faced lovebirds and one of them enjoys a shower so much: she closes her eyes and just looks like she is meditating! And no, they don't poop all the time like some people seem to think; in fact, they kind of pull away at the edge of our shoulders when they want to poop. All birds are wonderful creatures! And it is great to see how you love them and they love you too in this video. Thanks for sharing!

  • Non è possibile! LOL :-D

  • that's great what a cute video .good thing you remembered the mirror was there at the end so you were not in the shot.lol

  • Your something else man, those are some lucky birds. Keep enjoying life, ain it grand?

  • They truely love the water LOL!

  • Funny stuff. I used to work with a guy who had a bunch of parakeets. I'm not sure how many though. He would walk around with the birds on his shoulders and people called him "The Birdman." He even had a shirt made up that said The Birdnan with silkscreened pictures of his birds on it. They would shit all over him and he wouldn't even blink.

  • In such situations, I don't blink either.

Believe me, on ePionus poop, is 10 times that of a sweet li'l parakeet.

    :0)

  • Exactly what kind of birds are they?

  • They are called PIONUS. There are about 5 or 6 different PIONUS, of which I have 2. Blue Head and Maxi.

  • I never understood that. I love animals but I don't want them shitting on me. But he was weird in a Dax Flame kind of way that made you wonder if he was actually retarded. I miss him. He was awesome. How do you deal with the birds shitting on you? I assume it comes with the territory of owning a bird. Newspaper shoulder pads?

  • Oh I love your video, that was great. You were all adorable ;) My Pi boys say hi to your Pi boys

  • Thanks for the nice comment.

  • tee hee hee. You REALLy need a shower perch. :)

  • I agree with you Maya =P

  • haha... wet birdies...

  • so you always take a shower with your shirt on? :) COol well-behaved birds, mine hates moving water!

  • I hate the shower, but i do it to make my owner happy!

  • This was fasinating! What lovely, well behaved birds. I'm going to have to stop back over at VoyeurArts & give her a great big hug!

  • Ali

Thanks for looking, I'm going to look at some of your vids this evening. Name three you suggest.

  • lol!

  • bigfoot's pets include a golden retriever, 2 cats and a family of coons in the backyard, but you made him want a couple of parrot's as well! 5 stars!

  • Cool parrots!

  • I think it would have been funny if you would have used the blow drier in the shower. Next vid scene ...zap...feathers everwhere. What happened to the birdies? God I mean...Hi Joey!

  • Giuditta!!!!

  • Steve had it going on.

  • The vid quality looks great.

  • Good idea bringing in the sqeegy! What cute birds, they seem so smart. My CHILDREN run from the hair dryer!

  • Fantastic! Well done and so cute-- LOVE IT!!

  • Like Blues Clues but cooler!

  • I like Steve from blues clues... and Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper ;-)

  • Oh Otto!!!

  • it's fantastic..more shower!!!!!

  • Are you sure?

  • LOL

  • I must say, that was one of the strangest things I have seen in a while.

  • very entertaining video you have you birds super tame.

  • Great! I wish my birds would go for the shower/blow dryer routine. My first tiel did, but these guys are rescues, and I can't seem to get them to turn the corner on this. baths are a nightmare to them.

  • It is PRETTY FUN :)

  • feature material.

    congrats.

    2 honors

  • awesome- i'm subin

  • lol, cool. Were they always calm like that? Or did You have to gt t hem used to it.

    Cool Vid. ::)

  • Something about the water that makes them very cooperative... great time to do a wing inspection too.

  • One question--how CLEAN does the HUMAN get when showering with parrots?! It looks like you are only able to wash your hair with the birds on your shoulders!

  • Not very ;-)

Usually I put them up on a perch and then finish...

  • As long as I'm not first!

  • That was FUNNY!! Seriously, do you SHOWER with your birds EVERYDAY, Joseph?! They look like they LOVE the hairdryer--LOL!! They did NOT flinch!!

  • About once a week....
