  • @MistaChubbz1 I agree WE ARE THE FIRST BLACK FREE INDEPENDENT COUNTRY WHAT THE HELL THIS VIDEO TALKING ABOUT SECOND SMH GET IT RIGHT

  • Hello my fellow Americans my name is Norman, I grew up in a very dysfunctional country, a country stolen from one people, built by a group of people stolen from another country, and exploited by white Christians from another country.

  • "Freedom" means nothing when you live in a place like Haiti. I'd much rather live in Cuba than Haiti thanks.

Oh, and whats with this guy calling it AYE-ti. You are from the United States, it is okay to call it HAY-ti you pretentious douche.

  • @frednora your wrong its Ayiti...always been.no matter what country your from you call other countries the right way..Cuba,Puerto-Rico, Jamaica,Barbados,,,all these countries name stay the same why change the first black independent Country... The English people name it with H-,,,Thats white man doing. THE COUNTRY IS CALL Ayiti

  • visit labadie in haiti a paradise in earth... god bless haiti

  • God help Haiti and I just hope that the mess they have there left by the Duvaliers does not spill to my country the Dominican Republic. I truly hope that Haiti resurrects from its hashes for both nations sake.

  • @eblgraphics LMAO at that comment hello Trujillo? nothing that has been done in Hiati after Slavery is worst than what Trujillo did, spare me that bullshit and lets not forget DR is third world country as well

  • Wow.....this is nice and unbiased !

  • Thanks for sending out this video! It is pretty good!

  • great documentary

  • I really found this to be a wonderful documentary for its age. It's so very sad so much has been lost in human life first and foremost and historically last. My prayers are with them. :(

  • What I find interesting is the 1st King/President of Haiti name is Christ ... yes Christophe means Christ

  • interesting the 1st King of Haiti name is Christ ..

  • This video teaches how that we could have houses elsewhere but Ayiti will remain our home. No matter how bad Ayiti may look we have to live the rest of our lives to bring it back at least to 1940s.

There are areas that are still preserved throughout Ayiti.

    Ayiti p'ap peri.

  • wow Incredible!

  • Actually a very nice, and NON-BIASED, NON-RACIAL white documentary of Haiti for then and now. This is a gem to be shown and explained to school children the world over. Where is Al Gore!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha, but seriously, very good. And as to what happened between then and now? The Cold War and Papa Doc!

  • What happened to Haiti??

Could it be greed, corruption, voodoo, demonic activity, gangs, kidnappings, rapes, murders, child slavery...??? Just asking!

  • Please dont tell me youre the kind of sick bastard that thinks Haiti deserved the earthquake!?

  • what happened. Near as I can figure first Papa Doc instituted oppression. In particular suppression of one group which had lots of money and land. Then his son and successor Baby Doc married a woman from that class of people. She then pulled his strings and brought the whole edifice crashing down.

  • seeing how you dance around t

  • This was an awesome video...Looking at the pics of P-au-P than and looking at the pics of it after the quake is mind blowing....God Bless HAITI...They WILL RECOVER

  • This is propaganda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • earthquake!!!

  • how did Haiti go backwards in time since the 40's? in this video it looks as thow people were still farming and the city was beautiful ,What happened ???

  • i'm so happy 2 c dis

  • Wish it was still like that

  • me too, its sad but some parts are still beautiful

  • What a condescending movie

  • haiti was the best long ago rich and cool and they are still is so shut up already.

  • Mèsi anpil pou videyo sa a. Se ak anpil kè kontan e fyète mwen gade l. Li fè m sonje peyi m lan pa te toujou nan eta deplorab sa li ye kounye a.

  • Iisn't it HAITI 1492?

  • I don't think videos existed in 1492

  • In the video, at the very beginning, the 6 of December 1492, arrival date of Columbus at Espanola is mentioned. That explains my question. What happenned in 1942 anyway? Do you know?

  • Read the Title "1942"

  • In the video, at the very beginning, the 6 of December 1492, arrival date of Columbus at Espanola is mentioned. That explains my question. Isn't that what's relevant? What happens in 1942 anyway?

  • 1492 was when Columbus invaded

  • haha 3:30-3:35, yeah right! it gets Hot!!!

  • can ya'll believe people use to sleep with their doors open...

  • I was commenting on a similar video that behind the images of order and perhaps more balance there were ruthless people in power doing unspeakable things. We often miss the "forced order" brought about by dictators, and sort of forget the fear and terror behind all of this. Don't get fooled, it's always better to live in a democracy and seek progress and fairness from within.

  • Thank you so much for that video. And yet everybody hate us. Power to my people.

  • shit,,,still back them it was all fuck up,,,holly shit

  • Haiti looks so much nicer back then peacefu.l Theese were our grandparents days.

  • This video is simply brilliant, beautiful and harmonious image profiles,

I know one day all this paradisiacal place, congratulations ... I have a

video that you want to look is just paste the link in the bar after youtube /watch?v=myvA2md1Q0k

  • Years ago, I had a dentist, as we were making small talk, he said that he remembered when Haiti was the number one tourist place to go to for Americans.

I came to the conclusion that the Cold War did Haiti in. U.S. lost Cuba to Castro, that we were not going to lose Haiti to the communist. So Papa Doc was our dictator and damn the haitian people. As long as Papa Doc stayed allied with the U.S.

Texaco, Alcoa, Major League Baseball and Chiqita banana can do anything they want to the country

  • haiti needs a true leader like papa doc or baby doc nou pa bezwen moun kap pale kaka

  • i dont think that you know what you are talking about. duvalier did nothing but impoverish the country. he is the most disgusting man that ever ruled the country

  • democracy will never work in Haiti. We need someone like Hugo Chavez who's not afraid to speak against the abuses of large corporations and the capitalistic system that favor rich countries.

There's still one problem though. We still don't know how to harvest our natural resources. We cannot take a stand and forcefully negotiate for our interests if don't have anything to offer. Currently we are at the mercy of IMF. We're always begging.... and that's shameful.

  • beenn15 your so RIGHT, I feel the same way, we need a tough dictator to get us back on track. Democracy can't work in that population. Preval is a puppet begging for help. Aristide may have done some wrong but atleast he was smart and didn't beg others to get us out of the hole. Artistide was too smart for BUSH. When he asked France 4 reparations Bush knew he had to oust him, which is sad cause French OWE US BIG TIME !

  • @vmstudio2001 couldnt have said it better...dictagtorship is what haiti needs!!!!

  • That's good to know Haiti was once at the top of the most caribbean until the Duvalier came and started selling Haitian to the Dominican to work in the sugar field. My grandma always used to tell me that. IT'S TRUE, REPPING HAITI ALWAYS.

  • Haiti WAS NEVER as rich as Cuba, the DR or even Puerto Rico during the 20th century, but it was definitely more orderly and stable, the style of dictators in the past to justify their oppresive grip . Get some facts, educate yourself. And yes, Duvalier started to send workers to the DR, it was a Haitian flesh market from the start.

  • Pray For Haiti, Pray For Haiti, For Haiti shall rise

  • Pray all you want, it wont help. If I was in Haiti and saw you on the streets, I would throw you the mud bread I baked because you don't understand the suffering. You see you're in the Grand U.S.A. Haiti still can't get broadband. Therefore, you don't know what they are going through. All I know is it sucks there and there's no hope.

  • first black free nation that is the reason why them other country hating

  • France posed a big debt for what our ancestors have done. Fuck France.

  • We need a second revolution in Haiti to free the country of the 5%(mostly foreigners) of the people who been dominated and destroying the country.

  • stop blaming other people... haitians are to blame for Haiti's calamity. Until all haitians realize that then the hole is just getting deeper and and deeper until it's too late.I hope it never gets to that though.

  • Your right

  • they maybe want to take our freedom back ,let me tell u they just can't , we'll be free to the end of the world , ayibobo for Haiti.

  • Haiti has more freedom then Americans but has no money. There is freedom but you don't know.

  • belle haiti

  • I love Haiti

  • Back when Haiti was in it's better days. If only it could come back to that era.

    If only...

    ;(

  • It will.

    I´m sure of that.

  • Haiti is still beautiful my friend. Most of all, we may be poor, but we are still a Free Country. We have a beautiful history and great culture which can't all be told by online texts.

  • What indeed...

  • Don´t be sad... that´s human history. my country has been destroyed to the ground in 1945 after such a senseless war caused by madmen. and look how we are alive today and even better than before. There is no hopeless country in the world. I´m sure better times for Haiti are coming soon. Courage Haiti!

  • Hello!

My Friend I share your point of view, but take a look back at the israeli people, they even lost their contry and were wasted around the world. We Haitian at least we still keep our land, when the time will come a"MAN" will rise

to put all haitian together, and rebuild the contry "KEEP THE FAITH"

  • a man? you got 3 million men, time to take responsibility and put things right. Run out the kidnapper, upset the world bank, send bankrupt politicians packing! and thats just a start!

  • Don´t give up. My country has been destroyed to the ground in a stupid and senseless war and it has come up again. Why should Haiti not as well. I´m sure Haiti will have its better times. the people really deserve it after so much struggle.

  • u right homie cause all we got to do is hope for da best and keep prayin.haiti till my heart stop

  • thank you for this videos.Too bad the country isn't like this today.

  • an eye opener, a history that we should be proud off no matter what.

  • The story & history of Hayti, is as true & justifiable with the many historical monumentals sites within Hayti, as the Jewish state, relating the the bible. Hayti, is fact, not a myth as present day haters trying hard to make it to be.

  • You modern Haitians ruined my parents country. You bastards.

    Sincerely,

    Diaspora

  • like

  • Excellent!

  • thank u so much for posting this video i learned a lot. thank u thank u

  • This white guy had sense. You can't get any of them now to say anything inoffensive. They won't accept the fact that negroes ought to be free.

  • This is fantastic, a treasure! such a positive video and from so much time ago! We would need more of this kind, showing the beauty of Haiti instead of garbage, and talking about the courage of the people instead of the poorest nation of the Americas...

  • That´s beautiful, a treasure! showing positive the sides of Haiti and this more than 60 years ago... Would like to see more of this kind!

  • wow let them know let them know....
