i thought it works like this.

the moment the guard sees you, there are a number of different animations he can adopt before shooting you. the crouch before shoot is the longest animation (except maybe roll), which gives you enough time to get past before the guard is actually allowed to shoot by the game.

every time they don't crouch, he doesn't have enough time to get to the next door, and just dies. but save load enough and eventually you get through.

yeah, did this on Emulator, but there are different emulators, this Emulator is Mupen 0.5 which has the frame advance feature (so u can play in frame by frame) also normal mode, this is played frame by frame and you get amazing results! but if you just want to play games like the normal thing, u should look for Pjoject64 1.6 or 1964. search for them on google. and if u want to play online i prefer Mupen64k 0.7.9, i have all the N64 emulators (I think) so google them and hope you find an emulator
