You're not the only one. before I was computer educated, I brought in my laptop and asked for ram. He examined the laptop and gave me ram, I tried to put it in later, and then it WAS THE WRONG RAM. I took it back and he didn't believe me! "For $50 we'll install it for you" Oh da le, I Returned it right there! Eventually I got the right ram for $50 CHEAPER INSTALLING IT MYSELF. Not to mention, once he gave me the wrong graphics card for my desktop which didn't fit in the motherboard AT ALL.

I bought my first ps3 from bestbuy but it broke a few days later and then i went to return it and the gaming "pro" told me i cannot exchange it because they dont have the EXACT package in stock so i need to refund it all and loose around 100 dollars in saving just because they dont want to give me a non-bundled ps3. Never buy computer parts at Best Buy, or Futureshop.. The vast majority of the times you are being ripped off.. If you actually go to a computer store such as NCIX or the equivalent you will save loads of money.. In some cases you literally save %50 or more on computer parts..
We called to complain, and the store manager said...sorry, we won't pick it up...it requires more than one person to pick it up. We said "well then come pick up the TV we just bought...They said "OK, then you will need to pay a restocking fee." I will never shop here again. Their staff are morons, and their advertising is borderline illegal and fraudulent.
We got an add from them in our local paper. "free pickup of old TV when you buy a new Flatscreen over $2000" so we have an old, huge, tv upstairs that we said...awesome. So we go to the store, we show him the add, which says nowhere on there that there is a size or location limit, and we go buy a TV. We ask the sales rep when we show im the add, if picking up our old 64 incher is going to be a a problem. They said "oh no, no big deal". Guess what...they left it...this company is fraudulent.
I really sidestep best buy. I use newegg.com and use the free shipping options. A lot of times they have what I need but avoid getting cables from. The shipping is far more for these small items. I pretty lucky to have a fry's electronics nearby but beware their salesmen are not very knowledgeable. It's better to know what you want and side step the sales staff. I would return the modem and find some more reliable and honest. Just my 2.
I refuse to pick up anything at Best Buy. Pretty much the exact same thing happened to me; same basic 10% off offer. It was for a Targus cooling mat. I bought the newer version of the mat at NewEgg for $9... amazingly, the price that Best Buy should have offered to me.

This is exactly why I buy almost everything from Newegg these days. They actually value customers, and make sure they're treated right. With the plethora of great information from communities like Lockergnome, it's very easy to make informed purchases online. Companies like BestBuy have to alter their business models if they wish to stay relevant. If not, we're fine moving on without them. That's what's so fantastic about a free market economy.

I work for best buy. My co-workers do that ALL the time! If the computer says no they don't doubt check! I'm not a customer and it pisses me off. He is wrong about the Black Tie Protection though. It actually is very good to get. Most of the time we refund or replace with basically no questions asked besides "Is it broken?". But then again I work at the only store in the area with 4/5 star customer service the rest are about 2/5
My only guess is maybe your item was already on sale?...I tried using one of those coupons to buy stuff that was already on sale & they wouldn't honor both the coupon & sale price.

They seduced me into the deal and now looks like I'm gonna be screwed out of $100 as well. :-(
Sorry not the customer service link, but rather the COMMUNITY FORUMS link found at the bottom of the Reward Zone site. It's a mad house of nothing but page after page of angry customers who are failing to get their promised $100 certificate even after waiting the proper 35 days past their last game purchase and having all the proof in receipts. Calling their customer service # is a total joke as well, where they either transfer you or put you on hold forever until you hang up!
Best Buy is only good for window shopping (looking around at the cool stuff). Other than that, I've learned never to do business with them, let alone work for them. I've had horrible experiences from both. I still go look around in their stores, but it's not exactly the utopia it appears to be.

Best Buy is great for ripping people off. They will take your restore cd's and then charge you $100 + to make the cd's or will leave them in the box and charge you to make them anyway. They say (you do not get restore cd's with this new computer but we can make you some for $100) This is what they said to a friend of mine twice and both times the system came with a Windows dvd and driver cd.

I found a marked down price on the best buy website and it was also an in store deal... they tried to convince us it was a mistake and sell us a more expensive model. We called the best buy main office and asked to get it for a cheaper price. 3 hours later we finally got it for a cheaper price. Anyways.... I was mad. Everything is about money -_-

I work for best buy. My co-workers do that ALL the time! If the computer says no they don't doubt check! I'm not a customer and it pisses me off. He is wrong about the Black Tie Protection though. It actually is very good to get. Most of the time we refund or replace with basically no questions asked besides "Is it broken?". But then again I work at the only store in the area with 4/5 star customer service the rest are about 2/5

I agree with you man, and to all you people responding with "It's only $7" then you are totally missing the point. $7 here, $5 to the next customer, $15 to someone else multiplied by all their customers who get hosed is a LOT of money that Best Buy is ripping its loyal customers off in an economy which quite frankly sucks. They were promoting a HUGE "Buy 5 games, get $100" promo for pre-ordering and buying Xbox 360 and PS3 games this fall, but are failing to deliver their end of the promise. They seduced me into the deal and now looks like I'm gonna be screwed out of $100 as well. :-(

Sorry not the customer service link, but rather the COMMUNITY FORUMS link found at the bottom of the Reward Zone site. It's a mad house of nothing but page after page of angry customers who are failing to get their promised $100 certificate even after waiting the proper 35 days past their last game purchase and having all the proof in receipts. Calling their customer service # is a total joke as well, where they either transfer you or put you on hold forever until you hang up!

I purchased a portable projector screen and had to talk with a manager in a polite, understanding tone. Once we saw what was going on, I got a new screen and 2 bucks in store credit. Just Sayin.

The point of this video was not the $7.oo people. Its that fact that Best Buy doesn't keep to their word. Also the fact that it happens all the time to a wide variety of people, and Chris included that are constant customers bringing in enormous revenue and Best Buy cannot even be honest and keep to their word with the same people that keep it open. :/

Best Buy is great for ripping people off. They will take your restore cd's and then charge you $100 + to make the cd's or will leave them in the box and charge you to make them anyway. They say (you do not get restore cd's with this new computer but we can make you some for $100) This is what they said to a friend of mine twice and both times the system came with a Windows dvd and driver cd.

Chris, trust me, your NOT alone on this one. Matter of fact, just recently I made a trip to Best Buy which was one of my weekly doses of electronic goodness. Well I decided why not buy a new blu ray title. First off , I spend more money there then I do for college (exaggeration just a little). So, I tend to get my Silver Reward coupons and 10% or 12% discounts. I went to the counter, used my coupon, and noticed not only did I not save money, but the girl took my coupon!? What?!? >.<

hey mate, i work at a Australian electrical retail store. I understand where your coming from. Everyday i work i try my hardest to please every single the customer that walks through that door. But everyone is human and makes mistakes, no matter how hard they try. Best thing you could of done is return to the store ask them about it. and 9/10 they should fix them problem and apologize.

I totally agree, Best Buy toots my whistles too. Go back in there, the cashier was probably wrong, and talk to Customer Service, point out that it says Networking. and Bam. They should be able to credit you $7, no worries. If it's like Target, they should be able to override the system, it's wrong sometimes.

Best Buy is whack.. but kind of convenient because that's the only proper electronics store next to my house. Their Rewards system is CRAP. You spend about $2,500 and get the Silver Members Card and you just get $125 in coupons. How about I shop @ Amazon.com and save me $600 anyways because their prices are so damn cheap. I got ripped off I got a 360 got a extended warranty. It broke I go back to the best buy, I get told the warranty only covered it for a year even though I payed for 3 year extended warranty .... so Microsoft was nice and gave me a new one,but bestbuy wont give the 130 Dollars I spent on the extended warranty that they denied me to use
