I picked up mine last week and it shot 1" groupings @ 50yds. Blew me away. The only issue I have is the paint job where the cover over the bolt is that slides under the dust cover. Man it looks like the put a half a coat of paint on it. Other than that I love it. Picked it up for 650. I have ar15's ar10's two ak's and I like my new sporter better than any. Take care n god bless. Oh yeah check out my review of my galil. I will b putting it up this week.
Great video! I love this rifle, I so want to buy one but I have to wait for the laws to change here in Chicago... in due time... Hopefully I can find one just like yours when I'm ready. I want one as authentic as possible, though the quad rail accessory does look awesome. Cheers!
@godzilla1463 I agree the oracle is a good deal and it does come with an upper with more options, we went with the sportical just because of the price we got on it, I haven't had any problems with it though even though it doesn't have the forward assist or dust cover and I've shot it i in some super sandy and dusty conditions last weekend here in oklahoma, dust was so bad every time you opened your mouth and eyes it would just start to be gritty tasting and hard to see.
im looking to get one of these i hear alot of good hings about it and not alot of bad things witch is realy good i have a yugo sks that doesnt have the rifle grenade attachment and a guy that works at the gun store i always go to said that its extremly rare to have a a yugo one like that c they changed them and put the grenade launcher on them at thhe start of ww2..... just wish i had known hat before i changed stocks and such but anyways does it jam up at all like whats the bad arts about it
I was havng issues with the IMI Mags that came with my Golani. I couldnt load to full 35 rround capacity, the rounds were getting stuck in the mags, half would feed, other half with jam, ETC. Then, I realized it was the ammo, not the mag. I was using Tulammo and PMC .22$3 which is too long to work properly in the mags. Then I tried American Eagle AR .223 from Walmart and it works like a charm.
Alright I'm about to check it Out now. Thanks man we all get lucky sometimes ha. oh FYI steel rounds seem to shoot the best so far! And they are cheaper!
Sic video man keep them coming I just purchased my first Golani last week and am already looking into attachments. These guns are my favorite assault rifle
So far and that's coming from a guy who has shot every brand of ar-15/m4 out there. Oh and btw I got mine with only one clip ran though it, Gun, 2 35 rd clips, and a 10 rd blank clip (I'm converting to a 5 rd for hunting) how much did I pay 120$ total :p dude had the trigger spring disconnected and didn't know how to fix it. 5 minutes and a
@topo114 Yes you can, I have never had problems running steel ammo through it and it is set up on the ak47 platform which was basically designed to take steel ammo.
nice rifle. used it for a few years in the israeli army, used the galil sniper rifle as well. they were phased out. just for a bit of info there were some that had an adapter that clicked into the mag well that allows them to take ar mags and those were fitted with an m-203 grenade launcher. hehehe
@TheRGreviews about the adapter for ar mags i think that you could probably have a metal worker/gunsmith make one up for you just take measurements of the exterior of a galil mag and the exterior of and ar mag and kinda figure out a type of bushing that is about 2" to 3" high and snaps into to galil like a regular mag but has a spring loaded lever that has a catch like an ar for the mag release. im pretty sure they were never produced in large quantities and would be hard to find
@Orolandes I was actually very surprised when I felt the stock on this, this stock litterally has no wobble at all at least on mine it doesn't, it is one of the most solid folding stock I have ever felt, no wobble at all while firing, the only downside to no wobble at all is it takes a little force to get the stock folded back up, but once youre used to it it isn't a problem
Just wanted to thank you for this. been debating between one of these and an AK for my up coming purchases. One of the big things I dislike about the AK is the sights.
FYI, Israel provided a manufacturing license to South Africa, not the rifles themselves. The gun was modified for South African conditions and rebadged as the R4. Shorter barrel versions are the R5 and R6, used for close-quarter combat.
@Analoguesque I was aware of that but thank you for your input alot of people did not know that, also if you are looking for spare parts such as bolts and firing pins and you don't want to get the b.s. sportorized pin that century offers i found the best way to go is find out who has the South African parts and go with that.
Btw Galil is originally based on valmet rk62 assault rifle which was a redesign of the ak design for the finnish military. Israel bought machinery & designs and some receivers to start their Galil production.
Galil & Valmet/Sako are still quite similiar and mechanically identical, apart from the new selector swich and look wize different looking stocks and what not. Unlike the IDF, the FDF uses the 7.62x39mm maybe because we have lots of dense forests, but also 7.62x51 & 5.56x45 were made.
@Kekkon3n just an awesome comment man, informative and you know your stuff, I saw valmet at a gun show this past weekd for 1700 almost picked it up but the dude didn't take debit cards so it was a lose lose I guess
@thomassophiea I've had pretty good experience with this after I replaced the firing pin, just wondering which century arms firearms have you owned and had problems with?
@thomassophiea lol thats just ignorant to say. ive owned 4 century guns and i test the reliability of every one i get. i own an arsenal sgl21 and the wasr 10/63 was just as reliable as the sgl21. my friend has a century ar15 that had a few kinks but he had them worked out. i bought a ak74 from them which was awesome, and so on. they are not bad guns. people are just picky. and century has really stepped up their quality control since 2010.
Alright, worked on disassembly and I have encountered a problem. I believe my firing pin is supposed to be about the size of a ball-point pen point, but it appears that it's literally split in half, and one half is completely gone. (The actual pin itself, everything else is fine) And I had serious problems with the my last few rounds when we went shooting. So my firing pin is broken, if we sent it back, would they repair it for free?
@MetalSights Yea I believe they do do it for free, I havent sent anything to them in over a year, but when we sent our galil in to get the pin replaced all we had to do was ship and pay for the shpping and handling. I would email century and ask first though if anyone knows for sure its going to be them.
@MetalSights No I Don't not yet and I don't know if I'll make one. If I do any work on it and have to dissasble it all the way down I'll make a video but I don't really have the time to do that, not for a month or so at least. The probelm isn't that I can't take it all the way down, its just that I have never dissasembled this pattern of rifle completely and for something like that I really like to take my time and be careful with it, but if I decide to take it all down I will put a video up
@CoOpStudios It really depends what kind of ak74 it is. Also I do recommend this rifle, but know this about it, like I said in the video some of the firing pins might not work as well as a military grade firing pin instead of the sporterized firing pin so after the swap I did on mine, it has my complete confidence and I would depend on it with my life. Also I have never shot an ak74, but I have an ak47 as far as that goes I would rely on it just as much as I can rely on my galil/golani
@CoOpStudios also one more thing. I might like different things than you as far as ergonomics and asthetics of the firearm goes. Because if the ak74 is set up like an ak47, than I would choose the galil only because its got a ambidextrous safety, the grip feels better in my hand, the foregrip feels better in my hand, it is easier to charge because of the L shaped handle, and although the top cover is a pain to get on the gas tube breaks down easier on a galil...just somthing to think about.
@TheRGreviews ya i love galil because of the looks, right now i have just enough to get a ak 74 and the 5.45 ammo is cheap, but if i get enough by august then i might get the galil
@CoOpStudios yea the 5.56/ 2.23 is going to cost more no matter what, but the galil can take most steel ammo, never had a problem with bear or wolf, but someone told me about some tula that wasn't working in theirs the other day so watch out for that. You have to think is it going to be cost efficient as well, like if you want to shoot it more than two or three times a month I would go with a strain cheaper than 5.56, but if you can afford it than I deff. recomend the galil, its fun everytime
man, i want this for SHTF scenario, combined with a glock 21 and mossberg 500 and a .357 magnum/.38spc revolver. buy 10 of those 35 rd magazines, and a red dot scope and a flashlight
@Dmajorproductions hell yea man thats a pretty good setup, all reliable weapons and all common rounds as well as powerful. I like all of those guns and your setup is similar to mine with exception of the glock, where you have the glock I rock the springfield xd, or a cz either the 75b, sp01, or p-07
@TheRGreviews nice sidearm, but 15 rounds of .45acp in a glock frame is amazing, but those are awesome, im gonna take a look at those reviews of yours, and if the price is right, i may change my mind!
into century and if they fix it correctly and it works then I would leave it at that, but its not expensive to get a new one and with a little searching you can find them online.
I have the "casing expands in the chamber" issue, which really sucks. We can pop the casings out with a cleaning rod but it happened a little too often last time we went shooting. Also the firing pin doesn't always hit the bullet right, but I'm sure thats due to either shitty ammo or screwing up and loading the mag wrong.
@MetalSights The casing expanding in chamber is most likely an ammo issue, I had it happen once using some cheaper steel cased ammo, but only once with steel and ive shot allot of steel out of it. The firing pin not hitting could be due to the aftermarket firing pin installed by century. We got a military grade firing pin after we got ours back from sending it in from the same issue, they fixed the problem but we have a back up one that works just as good if not better now. I would just send it
@TheRGreviews Ahh, we use that Tula-ammo stuff, the crappy steel cased stuff that's made in Russia. We got the gun in late March, and it was rather new. (Well, define "new". Made from the surplus stuff.) But basically just off the line, was all oily and stiff. If we go shooting this next weekend and make sure the firing pin doesn't have any problems.
@xRussianButcher that would be pretty sweet, but I don't think they will. This is an older model rifle, that century arms puts together from surplus parts and surplus guns for the most part. With the exception of the safety switch the gas tube and the L shaped lug on the bolt its almost exactly like an ak, so I guess they figure .223 go galil 7.62x39 go ak, which is dissapointing
@101crazys I have one of these and I had trouble shooting steel case ammo. I was shooting Tulammo .223, mabey wolf is better quality. I dont know. But i have shot over a thousand rounds of PMC brass ammo and havent had a problem at all.
If you could only have one SHTF gun would this be it? I am in the market for a rifle. It will be my only long gun as I live in the city and only have space for one. I am thinking about building an AR but I really love Galil's.
If you could only have one SHTF gun would this be it? I am in the market for a rifle. It will be my only long gun as I live in the city and only have space for one. I am thinking about building an AR but I really love Galil's.
@stolikat I knew someone would eventually ask this. The only way this would or could be my shtf one only gun is if I have enough magazines. THey might be harder to find the ar mags. Would I rather carry around an ar because of the weight, of course I would, but I am more accurate, faster, and more confident in this weapon. Thats my opinion though, so I would say yes, but I am also an ak platform kinda dude, even though I do enjoy shooting an ar.
@stolikat Cool man, if you do go with the golani remember sometimes with century arms its hit and miss with quality, so run some rounds through it make sure it works properly before you trust it for something like that, we had to get a new firing pin for ours sent it to century the fixed it quick and haven't had a problem since.
Respond to this video... Also a big reason it is my shtf gun is because, its able to shoot .223, and .556, one of the most common rifle rounds in the us, and its built on the ak design, which gives me the accuracy and recoil of a .223 which helps with controlability, it is very easy to clean and break down in the field, I can transport it under a coat with the stock folded or in a bag, and its built on one of the most reliable systems in the world.
@orenr100 Century Arms is notorious for manufacturing shitty quality barrels and receivers with incredibly short life spans. Less that 10k. Standard factory parts from companies that actually make the weapons have barrels and receivers with 50k + round count lifespans. And Centuries customer support is known to be garbage.
@spotteddogbrewer Thanks for the comments dude, and thanks for the info I didn't know that about the reciever, but I do believe it is a the GAL series, sorry I didn't get to dig into it that much, its finals time for me and this is a second priority at the moment, but yes other than a malfunctioning firing pin it has performed flawlessly. If you do get one let me know how it works for ya. Half the reason we started this is to trade info on guns and see others experiences with them.
. As far as Century arms goes... its hit and miss with product quality, but more hit than miss in my case. We have bought a couple of century arms rifles and only have had a problem with one and it was fixed quickly and works flawlessly. The letters on the rifle are just an indicator of what model of galil/golani it is and if it has had any upgrades done to it there will be an f or x in the letters instead of just GAL0000. I have easily over 2000 rounds through it and its still awesome.
@funak47 no problem if I were you I would try looking up the south african galil parts, I know thats the style bolt we got and I heard there are quite a few spare parts for those around
@HaMossad1 I haven't had that problem yet, my stock has always folded out with ease, have you tried throwing some lubrication on the pivoting pin on the stock that might help.
Nice! I have had mine for about 6 months now. I got the UTG rail which I would recommend if you want to add any stuff to it! Its very solid and only costs around $100
@GoldenGunner15 The rifle was dirty when this was filmed so it would be pretty hard to tell but I just checked it and it looks chrome to me, I could be mistaken maybe its just the color of the barrel, but I have several chrome lined barreled firearms and this looks about the same.
What is the name of the magazine you have on it? Quick tip, since I'm about to get one myself Tapco came out with a 30 round clip. I know it shorts it by 5 but the little to no fail rate yeah I'm getting one
Bought mine yesterday for 500. Absolutely love it

Also the firing pin doesn't always hit the bullet right, but I'm sure thats due to either shitty ammo or screwing up and loading the mag wrong.
MetalSights 7 months ago

I'd love to buy this rifle but I'm waiting to see if they ever get chambered in 7.62x39
xRussianButcher 8 months ago
@xRussianButcher that would be pretty sweet, but I don't think they will. This is an older model rifle, that century arms puts together from surplus parts and surplus guns for the most part. With the exception of the safety switch the gas tube and the L shaped lug on the bolt its almost exactly like an ak, so I guess they figure .223 go galil 7.62x39 go ak, which is dissapointing
TheRGreviews 8 months ago
centerfiresystems sells these things for $550 a pop no bayonet lug
you have to have an ffl or go to someone that has one to get it like a local gun shop
cheaper than dirt sales mags and quad rails 75 rails and $13 per mags from tapco
aimsurplus sales dirt cheap ammo from wolf steel (.223) and remington brass (5.56)
101crazys 8 months ago
@101crazys thanks for all the info dude, I have a couple of tapco mags and they work great too.
TheRGreviews 8 months ago
@101crazys I have one of these and I had trouble shooting steel case ammo. I was shooting Tulammo .223, mabey wolf is better quality. I dont know. But i have shot over a thousand rounds of PMC brass ammo and havent had a problem at all.

If you could only have one SHTF gun would this be it? I am in the market for a rifle. It will be my only long gun as I live in the city and only have space for one. I am thinking about building an AR but I really love Galil's.

@TheRGreviews
Cool you more than answered my question. If I decide to go Ak style then I am most definitely getting the Golani!
stolikat 9 months ago 2
@stolikat Cool man, if you do go with the golani remember sometimes with century arms its hit and miss with quality, so run some rounds through it make sure it works properly before you trust it for something like that, we had to get a new firing pin for ours sent it to century the fixed it quick and haven't had a problem since.

Respond to this video... Also a big reason it is my shtf gun is because, its able to shoot .223, and .556, one of the most common rifle rounds in the us, and its built on the ak design, which gives me the accuracy and recoil of a .223 which helps with controlability, it is very easy to clean and break down in the field, I can transport it under a coat with the stock folded or in a bag, and its built on one of the most reliable systems in the world.

wtf is wrong with century arms???? golani is still an israeli name its the name of a military unit that are basically commandos
orenr100 9 months ago
@orenr100 yea I guess many people didn't know that the Golan Heights is an actual place in the world lol
TheRGreviews 9 months ago
@orenr100 Century Arms is notorious for manufacturing shitty quality barrels and receivers with incredibly short life spans. Less that 10k. Standard factory parts from companies that actually make the weapons have barrels and receivers with 50k + round count lifespans. And Centuries customer support is known to be garbage.
Lonewolf6565 9 months ago
@spotteddogbrewer Thanks for the comments dude, and thanks for the info I didn't know that about the reciever, but I do believe it is a the GAL series, sorry I didn't get to dig into it that much, its finals time for me and this is a second priority at the moment, but yes other than a malfunctioning firing pin it has performed flawlessly. If you do get one let me know how it works for ya. Half the reason we started this is to trade info on guns and see others experiences with them.
TheRGreviews 9 months ago

Can you still send in your Galil to Century Arms if you bought it used?

@HaMossad1 I haven't had that problem yet, my stock has always folded out with ease, have you tried throwing some lubrication on the pivoting pin on the stock that might help.
TheRGreviews 10 months ago
Nice! I have had mine for about 6 months now. I got the UTG rail which I would recommend if you want to add any stuff to it! Its very solid and only costs around $100
FastisFast 10 months ago
@FastisFast Thanks, I've been looking into rails for it, seems like a foregrip could come in handy with how heavy it is.
TheRGreviews 10 months ago
@TheRGreviews Ill post a video of mine so you can get an idea of what mine looks like. The foregrip helps alot!
FastisFast 10 months ago
your barrel doesn't look chrome lined to me and mine isn't so you might want to double check.
GoldenGunner15 11 months ago
@GoldenGunner15 The rifle was dirty when this was filmed so it would be pretty hard to tell but I just checked it and it looks chrome to me, I could be mistaken maybe its just the color of the barrel, but I have several chrome lined barreled firearms and this looks about the same.

sorry jrc, i meant to say no misfeeds yet
TheRGreviews 11 months ago
in the video the poly mag is an oralite mag, and I actually already have two of the tapco ones, the work just fine to misfeeds in them yet.
TheRGreviews 11 months ago
What is the name of the magazine you have on it? Quick tip, since I'm about to get one myself Tapco came out with a 30 round clip. I know it shorts it by 5 but the little to no fail rate yeah I'm getting one
