My problem with web-based project management tools, you can't really assume total privacy. And when it comes to personal items, internal operations, future plans, I wouldn't trust a 3rd party website with that information.
Like you said, you're the only employee, so it's not like you need fancy web collaboration features, right? Again here a desktop apps seems to work fine for a freelancer--and many of these desktop apps are free--no monthly fee.

Still, in this day & age with the "virtual collaboration" that we must manage, there kind of needs to be some security risk. For example, this is no more secure than my email (which HAS been hacked in the past) and I rely on 3rd parties for important, valuable things like email marketing (& a valuable list). Great point, though, and something that should be considered!

I'm starting to use "Planner" for Linux, it's simple enough and you get a cool drag-n-drop Gantt chart.
