Fireworks start from a couple of days before the big night building up to this intensity around 10pm and this level continued till around 1am.. it does die down a little bit after that but they continue going off in limited numbers, even during the day, for the next 7 days of the holiday. :-) Certainly much more extensive than any July 4th celebration. And every year the Chinese people in Beijing get richer and it becomes a bigger event. Not sure how many people get injured in the process.
