They did not change the genre of the films.The genre really is serial adventure dealing with the supernatural.Now if it had been about something like Indy repelling an invasion from Mars, then I'd agree that they changed things too heavily.As it stands it was still about Indy going after an ancient artifact, and fighting some bad guys, as well as having his own character arc.It did not change the supernatural of Indy's world, just showed in through a different lens.

Wow, are all the haters forgetting that TEMPLE OF DOOM had the same backlash this has been getting during its release and for many years after. It was considered goofy. People complained about the sidekicks (Particularly Willie). It gradually came to be considered a classic, but for a long time was considered the black sheep of the series. Hopefully over time people like with that one will come to respect this more.

That's why I hated the movie. About 95% of the action is in the trailer. All the good stuff was put into trilaers and promos so when you saw it, the movie turned out boring. That's just my opinion.
I dunno Tyler that's a hard question on time travel. One of the things that makes Indiana so cool is he gets to actually touch things and see things that we only hear about in legends. You'd have to put him in a not so pivotal moment, as religions go, as you'd get alot of people mad about it ;). then again, having him complete something we count as really happened lore, that would be cool, you just have to be very careful because there are people that would get offended if it wasn't done right.
I've been thinking that a good story idea might be something involving time travel. Indy could get sucked into the distant past, to when the Ark and all those other artifacts were being actively used. What do you think?

I was SO hyped up for this movie and I think it really delivered. I actually liked the aliens at the end, but I think the UFO was a bit much. If they took out the UFO and just had Akator collapsing and the water rushing in it would be a perfect movie.

Indeed. Coming up with a good mcguffin will be hard, mainly because they had the ultimate mcguffin in Raiders. The Ark of the Covenant was this divine box that could unleash the Wrath of God, and that worked really well in terms of creating a high-stakes adventure.
The problem is... where do you go from there? How do you top the Ark of the Covenant?

I agree. All those movies you listed sucked dick! This movie was SO anticipated for me that maybe I got my hopes to high. ALL the action is in this trailer or in the tv spots. The rest of the movie is a boring peice of shit. I was so bored in this movie that I would rather get a blowjob from a starving cannibal than to watch this again

You actually liked this? The first 3 films were AMAZING but this movie was destroyed by George Lucas. This movie was basically Raiders but George Lucas wiped his ass with it. This movie was SO fucking boring and uninspirational! It was basically Harrison Ford and Karen Allen on a soundstage with a shitload of CGI. Damn Lucas ruins ANOTHER fucking series!

Well george lucas if you can see is just coming up with the old shit he had in the past, which is annoying.. but i like this indiana jones it was not so the story line but the epic seens and phrases the put in the film, and i am a big fan of shia so i liked this film, but i think i like the trialer more then the movie

That's why I hated the movie. About 95% of the action is in the trailer. All the good stuff was put into trilaers and promos so when you saw it, the movie turned out boring. That's just my opinion.

I dunno Tyler that's a hard question on time travel. One of the things that makes Indiana so cool is he gets to actually touch things and see things that we only hear about in legends. You'd have to put him in a not so pivotal moment, as religions go, as you'd get alot of people mad about it ;). then again, having him complete something we count as really happened lore, that would be cool, you just have to be very careful because there are people that would get offended if it wasn't done right.

I've been thinking that a good story idea might be something involving time travel. Indy could get sucked into the distant past, to when the Ark and all those other artifacts were being actively used. What do you think?

I was SO hyped up for this movie and I think it really delivered. I actually liked the aliens at the end, but I think the UFO was a bit much. If they took out the UFO and just had Akator collapsing and the water rushing in it would be a perfect movie.

Yeah, I never understood what the problem was with having aliens in it. I always thought it was the character of Indiana Jones that made these films endearing, not the nature of what ever it is he's looking for.
Everyone's like "Ooh, there are aliens! That means the film totally sucks! Never mind that the man in the hat is back after 19 years and hasn't lost any of his charm. No, having aliens just fucks everything up!"
Come on! ...At least it wasn't Ewoks.

Indeed. Coming up with a good mcguffin will be hard, mainly because they had the ultimate mcguffin in Raiders. The Ark of the Covenant was this divine box that could unleash the Wrath of God, and that worked really well in terms of creating a high-stakes adventure.
The problem is... where do you go from there? How do you top the Ark of the Covenant?
