i think you guys misunderstood. this is HONOR BAND, so its not like the regular kind of band. it takes all the "good" people from different areas then puts them together to make them sound professional. don't mean too brag but i'm 7th grade and i'm playing in those kind of groups, but in orchestra
nice playing for middle schoolers! sometimes even in high school we sounded bad lol. and ive been on that stage for probably a total of 18 hours worth of rehearsals, concerts, masterclasses, etc :)
I know you guys are middle schoolers but you can still work on intonation. And the middle section? sounded like a train wreck. Solo's had NO definition between notes and none of them were played with dignity. This piece is WAY too hard for this band. WAY TOO HARD. And the 2nd chair trumpet should not be playing that 1st solo. The first chair should play them both (he had some sort of musicality in his solo) And the clapping is too fast, definitely not with the tempo...omg...
The kids you see playing this are 7th and 8th graders who recieved the music Friday morning along with 4 other pieces, practiced them all day Friday and performed on Saturday. How long did your band practice them?
This isn't the best performance I've ever heard, honestly. It's not bad, though. My school did a project with schools from two local counties and played at CSU Sacramento. I don't mean to brag, but we did very well. We played this, "While I Watch the Yellow Wheat" by Larry Daehn and "Sea Songs" by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The sixteenth note runs need to be crisper and faster! Very muddy sounding. Overall, great job! Sounds better with strings. I only say that because I'm a cellist. :)
