I am going to see them tonight in PG at CN centre, too bad they do not play live this song anymore, but again, there are so many other legendary songs (Anya, Son of Alerik, April, Holy Man...). Can not wait!!!
Well okay, after listening to both again I guess they're pretty equal. I exaggerated a little about it being the greatest ever. It was a good one though. Malmsteen has even better stuff than that one.
Blackmore is great, but if you ever hear Malmsteen's cover of this song on his "Inspirations" album it blows Blackmore's version away. Possibly the best guitar solo ever recorded. No offense to Blackmore but the speed and precision in that solo is just incredible. Blackmore is sloppy in comparison. Malmsteen imitated Blackmore with the same blond Strat and exposed chest but he definitely surpassed him in guitar playing. Malmsteen and Gillan would make a great superband.
...well DP was in existence from the late 60s, and internet only from the late 80s. People who hit on Bieber would not even know about DP or anything from even the 80s.
ritchie kicked ass here, as always when he was with purple, and rainbow! guitar god.....wasn't this the concert where he threw a glass of water at a roadie? what was that story...anyone?
@clouds882 He threw the glass at Gillan's wife, when she was watching the show I guess. My dad told me, that he red it in a biographical book, sometime ago!
Im looking for a song my father used to hear.. I think it was live from deep purple or pink floyd im not sure.. At the middle of the song the guitar plays and then the singer screams and it goes on for quite some time. Please if you know which song is answer me. Thank you!
@UkranianMacho Don't be afraid. That's just because everyone above 18 years is not on youtube all day. They actually listen to this beautiful music from CD or vinyl.. As it is supposed to!
I really feel for Ian Gillan - he gave his all with his all-out singing (and screaming) in the 70s and killed his great voice. Has a damn good go though !
Ritchie has a graduated scalloped fretboard, not like Malmsteen,s.What this means is that just after the fret the wood is there, but it slopes away toward the next, fret, very clever and allows beter chording,if you look up the fender blackmore strat you,ll see what this means. He did this way before Malmsteen,Uli roth etc,in fact there,s a clip from Purple in 71(no no no i think is the track) and if you see his sunburst strat,it,s scalloped in a strange way and he did it himself!
Ohh I get it.. It slopes up but again in the direction of the next fret, then it goes down and then back up then repeats for the next fret? so its like there are 2 valleys in 1 fret?
i must say gillian isnt as high anymore, but hes still awesome xD

Ian Gillan is by far the best singer for this song. He gets more feeling than every other singer here although he doesn't hit the high notes.

@lw48wp4 I would really like to Glen H sing it. I agree with you for sure..... But talk about Glen and High notes.
HonestHeathen 4 weeks ago
@HonestHeathen Yes Glenn Hughes is great. He is maybe the only one I could imagine as DP singer after Ian Gillan.

@Music4youtub no, there are two radius to the one scallop. the radius is shallower on the lower fret side. Nice to play with actually.
The middle pickup on his strat is a dud, doesnt work.

Means the wood between the frets has been scraped. Allowing players to have a better grip of the string while doing bends or vibrato.
A graphical illustration would be (when looking from a side of the neck), from this:
I-I-I-I-I-I
to this
IuIuIuIuI
haha :D
hope it helps
