  • hey if you look closely its like there somethin hanging on the planes tail

  • That is one Beautiful landing.

  • it's called the dreamline because it's so boring it puts you to sleep

  • I can never let my friend see this video if he finds out the 787 has wings like that I will never hear the end of his stupid jokes.

  • SWEEETTT!

  • the 747-8 also has these kind of wings!! go boeing!!! :D

  • WWHAT A LANDING !

    SMOOOOOOOOOTH.

  • @DragonClutch That's because Mike Carriker was the pilot who is a LEGEND in the industry. He has so many hours in so many aircraft along with over 300 aircraft carrier landings among other distinctions. He works for Boeing and is an AMAZING pilot which is most likely an understatement.

  • softest landing I have ever seen

  • brilliant!

  • wat is that at the rudder there .there is like a small ball thing.wads tat?

  • Boeing planes look better than airbus a/c

  • i think the 787 will replace the 767

    eventualty...

  • Nice landing, Captain!

  • this was such a huge plane.. i wish i could pilot it...next year ill take my college and i'd like to be a pilot but we dont have enough money to take this course.. i'd like to ask who would like to be the sponsor so that i can study ...thanks so much..godbless.. please help me

  • @marold29, I'm a commercial aviation major at the University of North Dakota and our Air Force ROTC program is paying for all of my tuition so if you need money for school you should consider ROTC.

  • @hobbseltoff ah ok but her in philippines i thought no rotc here. you have your own to study air transportation...but it so expensive thats why i'm looking for a scholarship or financial assistance...its ok thank you

  • Nice landing Boeing 787

  • @marold29 here in chile you need more or less 30 thousand dollars for all the private, IFR and commercial pilot license, in total.... i think in canada or the US is more expensive, and we have really good pilots and a really good airline (LAN).... consider it....

  • @marold29 hobbseltoff is right, if your going to be a pilot, the Air Force is the best way to go.

  • @marold29 get the money yourself you lazy cunt. dont go expecting a bloody handout. get off your fat ass and get a job.

  • @marold29 If you love flying, get a good paying job other than commercial flying and fly a private plane for fun. Or, join the military. Commercial pilots dont make as good money as they used to, the glamor is gone, and you really dont do much more than sit there and babysit instruments anyway, and as the latest technology become more commonplace it will become more and more hands off for the pilot. First 5 years, dont expect to make more than 30k pa. To make six figures you'd have to be top 5%

  • thats was such a smooth fast landing

  • flex your muscles, flex your wings baby!

    Boeing ftw

  • Love the wings on this plane!

  • look at that wing flex

  • I have to admit, though I didn't see the big deal when Boeing announced the 787 it is a very...majestic looking aircraft, the way the wings curve during flight.

  • humi am wearing red undies lol don't ask meh why i am telling you this

  • rough landing much?

  • @SpartanW98 How was that rough? To me that was pretty smooth! lol

  • load!

  • WHAT a Touchdown amazing soft^^

maybe a bit late but SOft

  • What was that thing hanging out from the tail?? It might have been a remote airspeed sensing device of some time, in order to see how accurately the onboard instruments were reporting actual fying conditions. That's just a guess!!! The plane seems to have a lot of dihedral in the wings!!! Pretty bird!

  • @MrColorfulcat

It measures static pressure. I think this to allow them to calibrate the instruments to what will be the permanent static source on the aircraft in the future.

  • AircraftCompare DOTcom provides exact details of around every aircraft in the world from the past present to the FUTURE FLYING CARS, with photos specs price and everything else. Compare side by side the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380 or the MIG with the F16 etc, get access to category wise airplane and helicopter rankings, meet the prominent figures from the aerospace industry through the community..

  • THIS IS A PLANE! OMG!

  • what was that little thing hanging out from the tail ?

  • @nzthunderboy its a HF radio antenna

  • The thing coming out of the tail is special sensor used for measuring certain wind and a pressure perimeters. It's only used for test flights.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • I was there!!!

  • 0:43 seems unsteady at this point. There is low wind...the lights could be on cause of dense fog and visibilty issue. The landing looks like normal landing noticing an effort to keep the nose down 1:23. 1:33 the nose comes back up routinely. Other than that it maintaines a level landing.

  • its called flying a visual approach dude... its not going to be perfect, I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary when flying VFR. im sure boing remembered to install a trim tab, the bobbing of the nose is just standerd minor adjustments to the approach, again nothing abnormal, that was a beutiful approach, and landing.

  • Very nice airplane

    ilike 787

  • airbus is a boing made in taiwan

  • no the 787 is a mid size it will replace the aging 767 and 757 and in some cases the 737

  • it wont replace the 737 thats for sure but your right about the 767 and 757. The 737 is in a different market all together.

  • Airbus is nice! Nothing beats (Boeing)..

  • great work boeings, I think they'll do better than the Airbus :)

  • Perfect landing!!

  • What's the sey plane 787!!!!!

  • cant wait to see her in ANA's livery

  • @marco78910 they already have some in ANA livery go to newairplane(dot)com and look at the gallery

  • We do that kind of weird stuff in the dorms too!

  • Plenty of Wing 'flex' on this near empty newpin - good luck in the stormy weather.

  • BRAVO!

  • why would they test it out on a rainy day?!?!?

  • WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK

  • you copied that of con air the film

  • type in "Nathan hooper" into youtube. funnies video ever!! soo good

    its the first one

  • amazing

  • Boeing doing what it does best. Creating beautiful planes

  • Airbus all the way :P

  • LOL no, no, no. Boeing forever

  • Well you say that.....I mean...wheres Boeing's concord ?

Sure they have some nice planes....but....Air Bus for me... Air Bus and Rolls engines...although GE are good too :)

  • The archives most likely :)

Nooooo, Boeing have beautiful planes. She's not called Queen of the Skies because she's ugly. The 747 is a classically elegant design of which Boeing have been good at for a very long time.

    Boeing and Rolls :)

  • I look at the aesthetic between Boeing and Airbus comparable to the automobiles- different people have different preferences. There is certainly no other plane like the 747. The 787 is elegant and sleek but not radically different from say an A330, a beauty in its own. You can tell i'm a bit of an airliner geek, can't you?

  • @onnomon I agree but compare the 747 to the hideously ugly a380! Boeings have always tended to be more aesthetically pleasing and this is another example.

  • Good ol' European engineering can't be beaten. Airbus for me

  • TheerIsEre, the 787 will change passenger airplanes. Too much awesomeness to post it all here. It's called the "dreamliner" for a reason. Google it.

On another note, this is one sexy plane. Love the curved wings. Very nice!

  • smooth landing who knows whenqantas is gettin there 787

  • whats so special bout this plane?

  • which 787 is that one? -300 or -800?

  • It's the 787-800.

  • amazing landing

  • love the wings supberb,flaps 10 .

  • Super Smooth Landing!

  • I dont know if I would trust that plane tbh. Did you see the bend in the wings?

  • @STFCcreamemlads Did you ever see an Antonov 124? Now there's bend, but they don't fall off!

  • It's designed that way. It has been proven that more rigid wings have a greater susceptibility to damage.

  • I know that you need some flexibility to avoid the wings snapping, but (just my opinion) that looks like too much really

  • @STFCcreamemlads I believe the highly swept wings are a new method for economic flying? i think, prove me if im wrong, but i think i remember reading somewhere that it improves fuel efficiency during all aspects of flight.

  • Oh ok, makes sense. Cheers

  • its the design.... have you seen how much the a330s and a340's flex?

  • The new 747 is getting those sweptback wings; they are the future and the new A350, Airbus's late, late entry to compete with the 787 is getting them too.

  • A new 747? Wow, do you know if they are going to redesign and try to get the largest commercial airliner record back? I hope so, I'd quite like to see what they do

  • @STFCcreamemlads yup its called the 747-8 they use some huge ge engines twice as tall as a normal person

  • no.. they were aiming to improve the 747.. they just stretch it a bit more added more fuel efficient wings and engines.

  • very smooth touchdown! whew!

such a beautiful and graceful airplane

  • Fuck look at the bow in the wing tips

  • is this plane ther already for fsx??

  • god..such massive engines..!! great Landing too

  • Nice day for a flight, also enjoy the weather at Seattle...

  • omg that boing flies nice

  • If it aint boeing, i aint going.

  • don't like the window wipers......lol

  • nice landing, such a beautiful plane

  • Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO, it's a Boeing!

  • such beauty

  • YO this is the shit all i got to say is A350 just bring it BOEING FOR LIFE!

  • Hey guys why does the engine cover open up when landing on @1:41 ?? is it for noise reduction?

  • That's the thrust reversers in action. It helps slow the aircraft down when it's on the runway

  • LOL, you were faster with a few seconds then me, but we both answered to mjeed21's question :))))

  • no, it is used for reverse a part of a jet to increase the breaks efficiency.

  • I wanted to say that :-( , also old engine's on other planes had just a flap, this one looks much better :-)

  • maybe he meant on MS flight simulator

  • matter of fact the wings of the A 380 are made in wales

  • It looks the size of a 767-300 with 777-200 wings

  • you are comparing the b777 to the a300? are you nuts? the boeing is almost 20 years newer.

  • I've flown both Airbus and Boeing planes for Virgin Atlantic for nearly 7 years folks. There is simply no comparison. The 747, 777 simply outperform the Airbus A380 and A300. Boeing has been doing it longer and better for decades now and it will take decades more (if ever) for Airbus to achieve anything close to what Boeing engineers have done. The 787 set the bar a tad higher today and in fine fashion i might add!

  • I call that a big pile of steaming bullshit.

If you were a pilot, you'd know that despite some design philosophies that one may or may not like, Airbus a/c are every bit as good as boeing aircraft on a performance standpoint. They have a 50:50 market share for a reason.

Your profile doesn't seem like that of a pilot at all, and it says you are 24yrs old. So you fly long haul with Virgin Atlantic since your 17? ROFL.

    Fucking liar.

Good job perpetuating this silly and irrational A vs B thing.

  • Virgin never flew 777s or A300s, the only airbus jets they fly or will fly are the A340, A330 (on order) and the A380 (on order). They also fly the 747 from boeing.

  • LOL ROFL someone flys Flight Simulator way too much "bench pilot"! LOL I agree with Sha1tan

  • first flight and first landing with gear problems already....???are they sure they want to compete Airbus A350..??

  • They didn't have landing gear problems, they intentionally flew gear down the entire flight.

  • love the fact that everytime something good for aviation happens it turns into a A vs B fight. you're ruining it for yourselves.

    well done boeing :) she's a beauty

  • airboeingbus, I agree with you 100%. There's always gotta be someone to fire up an argument. I'm American, and I was excited to see the A380 fly it's maiden flight a while back. We will use technologies from others' studies, as they will use ours. Thats the way it works...

  • 70HeavyChevy your comment must be smartest one of 400 I have read so far!

  • Agreed, true aviation fans enjoy great aircraft no matter who builds them.

  • nice wing flex

  • I just wonder how much the wings will flex when fully loaded.........Might scare the passengers to look out and see the wingtip 10 feet over the top of the fueslage and consider that normal

  • LOL, I can't wait to see what the wings look like when fully loaded while flying!

  • It is a beautiful aircraft and to see it flying is like watching a graceful bird soaring on the wind. Can't wait to have the chance to fly on it someday :-)

  • ill be flying it one day

  • The curvature of the wing and the flex is nothing new on this bird...The wings of the 777 are dead stiff compared to the A330...this is the first Boeing aircraft to have true wing flex. The A380 wing is designed for high efficiency for its weight....in its class, it is far more efficient than anything flying, but the 787 has different requirements...like comparing apples with oranges.

  • The 787 is the first Boeing to have true wing flex??? You can't be serious...and please don't try and compare the super-efficient wing of the 777 with that of the pathetic A330/340 series aircraft. I love your quote about the A380 wing being designed for high efficiency, no seriously...and why would Airbus want that? Geez, thank you Mr. Obvious.

  • Go back to school kid....or when your Mummy lets you go and look at the first series 777, go compare with the 330 and tell me about wing flex. As for the A380...the inbuilt curves on the gull wing root make it need less speed on approach than a 747...horses for courses....ask your teacher at school to explain that to you.

  • Actually the 787 is a lot more fuel efficient than the A380. Transportation fuel efficiency is typically measured in the amount fuel (in liters) to transport one passenger 100 kilometers. The A380 is stated to be able to achieve 2.9 L/100 km per passenger while the 787 can achieve 2.4 L/100 km per passenger meaning it could save over 1500 gallons of fuel on a typical flight from KJFK to EGLL.

  • @hobbseltoff you're comparing two different types of aircraft..the a380 is a FULL double decker which weighs way more than the 787 which is obvious.. it's like comparing the fuel efficiency of a 757 and a 747..the fact that the a380 wastes .5L/100 KM more than the 787 is awesome for an aircraft of its size..

  • yeah it probably still has the standard 18" wide seats and no leg room to speak of

  • Actually no it doesn't. The Boeing museum in Everett has a mock-up of what the interior will be like and due to some major changes (most notable being the flat walls) the cabin will be a lot more roomy.

  • @hobbseltoff Meh, Airlines will have their choice of what they want in the interior and they will most likely go with a traditional accomidations with a 3 class configuration.

  • oh airbus, eat your heart out.

the wings of the 787 are curved. am in love with this aircraft

  • Umm, aren't the wings on the A380 just as curved?

  • these are better cause they are american and not french

  • Fine, but give them some credit. Americans laughed in the 60s when they said they wanted to build jets to rival boeing & they have by pioneering a lot of stuff including, fly by wire, increased use of composites, health management systems etc. they do great work.

By the way airbus wings are made in the UK not France, their wings are British like the engines powering the 787 today & every airbus jet has a lot of stuff made in the USA in it, we can take pride in that.

  • no i dont think so. the A380 wings does not flex like this. all pictures i have seen of the A380 was a stiff wing supporting two heavy engines. the curvature of the 787 wing is distinctive and so i s the curvature on the 747-8i. boeing seriously needs to speed up development on the 777NG to stop the A350-900 dead in its tracks.

  • Watch some videos of A380, on landing you'll see the significant wing droop after the spoilers are deployed, on take-of as speed builds, those "gull" wings rise significantly. The A380s wing spars & some of the skin are carbon fibre & other composites u know. As for the 777 (perhaps my fav jet), boeing will need a new aircraft to compete especialy for the 772 market if airbus builds the A350 as well as the A380, the A350 & 787 are next gen, older models will struggle to compete with them.

  • Here's a great example of the flex you're talking about. Video X9YMXFkToac is a Quantas A380 landing.

Watch how much the wing flexes DOWNwards when she lands. I certainly wouldn't call it a "stiff wing." It's just that when the Airbus lifts off, the wings move into "neutral position" while the 787 flies with an upward flex.

They are both beautiful aircraft and both multinational efforts, so many different nations can be proud of recent aviation.

  • Agreed, though I wouldn't say they move into neutral, they flex up, with a span that long they have to flex a great deal. Any way you put it though, these are beautiful aircraft, its a great time for aviation fans, next stop the 747-8 and A350!

  • Wonderful Achievement and great looking plane and landing!! Congrats Boeing!!

  • Can't wait to see this beauty in regular airline service!

  • where ddi it fly for 3 hours? around?

  • they hopped up to YVR and picked up some good beer and tickets to the Olympics!

  • beautiful! amazing winflex both and takeoff and landing~!

  • what program did you use?

  • Comment removed

  • It's form the Boeing website

  • great plane nice landing

  • Thanks for uploading hobbseltoff. Nice landing. The landing gear (Messier-Dowty) and Engines (Rolls Royce) worked a treat. Well done to all involved!

  • amazing wingflex

  • Beautiful one :))

  • Great landing!

  • NICE!

  • i missed, thanks for uploading it. :)

  • No problem, I'm getting pretty good at this; I had this video up before it finished taxiing.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
