Their guitars were stolen during tour and it would have took years to get new guitars from Jackson but ESP said that it would only take 3 months to make signature model for Alexi(and later for Roope) so thats why they changed to ESP.

Old or new COB... whatever. Every band has to come up with something new every time. Transformation is absolutely natural and necessary. I also like the old Bodom songs better than new ones, especially live. But I still listen to Blooddrunk for the sick guitar solos.

And I don't think that Bodom has become "commercial" at all bands evolve. The main reason their sound changed was because Alexander Kuoppala left the band after Hate Crew Deathroll. He was a big influence on the band's power metal part of their sound. When Roope came in afterward he brought different influences, hence, Bodom sounded different.
Yes, they changed a bit from Follow the Reaper to Hate Crew, but I would call that a natural change... Not the drastic change that came from Hate Crew to Are You Dead Yet?, that was, as stated before, brought about by Roope joining the band. And while I will agree that I prefer old Bodom to new Bodom, I still love them the same!
I get what you're saying about Ale, he undoubtably had a big influence on Alexi musically,but you can't say Roope had anything to do with the change in direction of the music.Roope era COB doesn't sound like Sinergy.Roope doesn't write the music,(though I'm not sure whether he wrote his solo in BFH ?) and he's pretty much said he doesn't try to put his mark on COB's music at all because he sees it as 'Alexi's baby'.Alexi's changed his creative preferences in music style that's the change.

Uhm, Alexander Kuoppala had a LARGE influence on the Power Metal sound of old Bodom. And I know Roope was in Stone, I'm not a fucking retard. I'm saying that CoB changed to a much more thrashy sound with Are You Dead Yet? Which makes sense considering that was the first Album (Excluding Thrashed, Lost, and Strungout) that Roope, who played in a THRASH metal band was on.

Are You Dead Yet? is very different from their previous stuff and it was very unexpected, but all in all it's not a bad album.

Old Cob the solos sounded far more classical. They wern't as fast but are more melodic.
Old CoB Lyrics are even more difficult to understand.
I personally prefer the new Bodom. Songs such as Downfall and Kissing the shadows are just to good. (From Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper albums)

Old or new COB... whatever. Every band has to come up with something new every time. Transformation is absolutely natural and necessary. I also like the old Bodom songs better than new ones, especially live. But I still listen to Blooddrunk for the sick guitar solos.

listen to something wild..hatebreeder and follwo the reaper...then you will notice the BIG difference..now CoB is comercial music...nothing to do with old bodom style..old bodom simply rules...you like it or not :)

And I don't think that Bodom has become "commercial" at all bands evolve. The main reason their sound changed was because Alexander Kuoppala left the band after Hate Crew Deathroll. He was a big influence on the band's power metal part of their sound. When Roope came in afterward he brought different influences, hence, Bodom sounded different.

Yes, they changed a bit from Follow the Reaper to Hate Crew, but I would call that a natural change... Not the drastic change that came from Hate Crew to Are You Dead Yet?, that was, as stated before, brought about by Roope joining the band. And while I will agree that I prefer old Bodom to new Bodom, I still love them the same!

I get what you're saying about Ale, he undoubtably had a big influence on Alexi musically,but you can't say Roope had anything to do with the change in direction of the music.Roope era COB doesn't sound like Sinergy.Roope doesn't write the music,(though I'm not sure whether he wrote his solo in BFH ?) and he's pretty much said he doesn't try to put his mark on COB's music at all because he sees it as 'Alexi's baby'.Alexi's changed his creative preferences in music style that's the change.

@VFB1210 i dont knw why you got thumbed up, that is simply not true. roope played in sinergy (a power metal band) with alexi and was in a trash metal band called stone so roope had NO influence on the sound change

Uhm, Alexander Kuoppala had a LARGE influence on the Power Metal sound of old Bodom. And I know Roope was in Stone, I'm not a fucking retard. I'm saying that CoB changed to a much more thrashy sound with Are You Dead Yet? Which makes sense considering that was the first Album (Excluding Thrashed, Lost, and Strungout) that Roope, who played in a THRASH metal band was on.
