  • Does anybody know the name of the melody saliery is playing exactly at 5:01 when the priest enters the room? For some reazon I seem to have a fixation with it :) Can somebody please tell me???

  • best movie ever

  • This movie was on TCM a few days ago for Oscar month but it was the original version. However, I've seen this Director's Cut version on another channel, which I recorded and watched on New Years Day with my parents. It was a great way to start off 2012. :)

  • Embellished or not - that's entertainment.

  • gracias buena tod la peli te agardecemos

  • great movie. the best movie i have ever seen. luciana, prague

  • I love the actor who makes the priest!!!

  • Salieri is playing when you enter the father?

  • My favourite movie. I found out the Director´s cut yesterday and I can´t let watch it one time, and one time again,

  • I like that they start the music off with Don Giovanni. The commendatore scene is one of my favorite opera arias

  • It's excellent at the beginning (when Salieri's being transported to the hospital), and we hear Mozart's 25th. When we see Salieri look up to the concert hall, we don't know anything at first, and we think he's groaning in pain. Excellent directing. :)

  • Marianmus even uploaded the dvd extras. THANK-YOU!

    :D

  • how well are you trained... in music??? CLASSIC (literally)

  • @heyyoitsmebrian Well it was that period of course of Mozart came Beethoven who created the link between classical and romantic

  • this movie is not the description of the real history but I like to think Salieri was the first Mozart's fan and was in love with his music!!!

  • What's the song Salieri is playing when the priest walks in?

  • "all men are equal in god's eyes" so true but not all men see god equally

  • F. Murray Abraham is brilliant. Tom Hulce is brilliant. And Elizabeth Berridge.. lived with Helen Hunt for awhile.

    Truly an epically cast movie.

  • @groovylocks You speak the resounding truth.

  • What's the song called at the beginning of 2:53 ?

  • @Basketball677 That is Mozart's Symphony #25 in G Minor, K183, 1st mvt..

  • does anyone know which of salieri's operas this clip is from

  • @dodscot Axur, re d'Ormus ("Axur, King of Ormus"), Act IV: Son queste le speranze

  • did he try to kill himself at the beginning? if yes why?

  • I have fallen in love with a movie

  • @Forevermoonlight13

    I did so, too.

  • i remember it as a great movie - who cares if it is not what probably actually happend - it has so much poetic truth - the understandable envy by the talented hard worker of the genious

  • @wildhias This is based of a play. Play's aren't always real.. some people just need to go back to school and figure that out before making fools of themselves.

  • You know a movie is good when it's made a while ago...but it could have easily been made a year ago...

  • Oh that's charming... and the poker face of Salieri... LOL!

  • Is it odd that I know the movie word per word??

  • For some reason the speed of this film is a bit too fast. The music should be slower.

  • At 4:35 it's any Mental Institution in the U.S.!

  • @1daddy57 Actually...its not.

  • @LilGrey456 I've been in one..and except for the clothes...trust me..it's the same!

  • @1daddy57 Amm someone I know has been in one.. and yeah it's the same.. I meant the fact that there's a bunch of naked men around. Not in the Bedlam I was at. But I see what you're saying. Take care. deary.

  • I really wanna know the specific song at 7:10 I know the opera is axur re d'ormus

  • @LilGrey456

    youtube.com/watch?v=NvsX8NG-VRY

    specifically 2:50

    enjoy!!

  • @FOCarvalho Thank you thank you thank you! You're an amazing help.

  • Where or what is the music starting from 2:10 from?!?!?

  • @rulleK Hi! That's Symphony No. 25 in G minor

  • @silvinau82 uhhhhhhh THX!!!!

  • I have always wondered by Salieri is in a wheelchair through out this film

  • Kann jemand den Film auf Deutsch hochladen, bitte?

Can someone load this up in German, please?

  • Ok, folks...Forget about Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber...This is REAL MUSIC!!! 7:09

  • @MrDavidFILM Actually for me it would be hard to forget them since the first I only know by name and the second one I have never even heard off but you are right that this music is one of the greatest ever produced by humanity

  • "I didn't know you wrote that!" - "I didn't...That was Mozart."

Salieri's feelings and motivations in one dialouge.

  • @marianmus You have a rather important line missing at the end here... before the cut to young Mozart playing, the old Salieri says "He... was my idol". That one shouldn't be left out as it explains in one line what Salieri felt about Mozart.

  • does anyone know the name of the song at 8:22? thanks in advance

  • @mreryder It is "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" K. 525, in english: "A little night Serenade" K. 525.

  • @Musiker81 actually I think it is a little night music

  • 7 Justin Bieber fans detected! LOL

  • lol, 2:10 the music begins and then the note: "Symphony 25 in G Minor K 183, 1st movement...", thank you for your complete information! I really like Mozart, but it's hard for me to remember the name of his compositions.

  • Can anyone tell me what the second song Saliere played is named?

  • @Rimimi55 symphony No. 25 In G minor K.183, 1st Movement

  • @Catoteto Thanks, but there is no singing in the piece you gave me? I meant the second song when Salieri is playing the piano and the singing stars...

  • @Rimimi55 The second song Salieri plays for the priest is from his opera, "Axur, re d'Ormus", ("Axur, King of Ormus"). The piece is from act IV, named "Son queste le speranze".

  • @mkarnerfors grazie actually I wanted to know that and thanks to you now I know

  • @Rimimi55 in classical music there are no songs. They are called pieces which can be arias in an opera or symphonies, concertos, sonatas but never songs

  • @truvianni ok thanks for the information. Can you give me the name of that piece (syomphony, concerto, sonata, whatever this is)?

  • @Rimimi55 I do not know its name but I can tell you this what salieri plays on the piano is the same music which is heard in the aria which follows it. An aria as it clearly is from an opera. An aria is basically a song in an opera naturally with singing to be honest with you when I 1st heard what salieri was playing I didnt recognize it as what came after but with time my ear developed and I was able to recognize it.

  • @Rimimi55 Actually, I am a writer and I have written many articles on the subject of opera and even a book. If you google my name "Truvianni, Figaro" you should be able to find my articles on the subject Mozart's opera. The name of the book I wrote is "New York's Opera Society" which is a story about people who study opera in New York.

  • 1:12 as soon as i saw him, i was like "omg, it's the dude from 'ghost'!

  • If you've never seen the film, I implore you to see the theatrical release before you see the director's cut... the dc makes a terrible change in one scene, one that alters how the viewer thinks of Salieri... in it, he does something that is literally "out of character."

  • @773SleepyHollow I disagree... the directors cut adds depth to all three main characters (Antonio, Wolfgang and Constanze). The action you speak of does not show Salieri "out of character"... instead it shows that he is not heartless and that he is shocked at what lengths he was almost prepared to go in his struggle against god.

  • @mkarnerfors I haven't seen the entire dc, I'm referring to a specific scene. In it, Salieri behaves MORE heartlessly than his character logically would, and veers from the core of his feelings about Mozart, which are an uneasy mixture of awe and embittered envy.

  • @773SleepyHollow I still disagree. There is nothing illogical about it. It doesn't veer one bit.

  • @mkarnerfors I wouldn't be surprised if there are other scenes in the dc that would appeal to me - Forman is a master filmmaker, and likely has good instincts more often than not - but the scene I'm talking about was a dealbreaker for me.

I thought,"THIS is not the Antonio Salieri I've known all these years... you've changed, man, and not for the better."

  • @773SleepyHollow You need to remember that the DC is the way it was originally scripted and filmed. The DC shows the "original" Salieri... the theatre version Salieri is scaled back and more shallow.

  • @mkarnerfors I might see the DC eventually; Amadeus is one of my favorite films (Top 5), so I have a # more viewings ahead of me (& behind me). We'll have to agree to disagree about the aforementioned scene, but it would be interesting to see what other changes the DC made to the theatrical release. (Almost all released films are different than what is originally scripted, & edit or wholly omit certain filmed scenes. An editor's restraint can be helpful, as I think was the case here.)

  • @mkarnerfors Abraham actually played the emperor in the theatre Version and even auditioned for that role but obviously got the part of Salieri

  • great movie

  • what opera is salieri playings at 7:14

  • F. Murray Abraham delivers one of the best performances ever. Magnificent acting.

  • I can watch this movie over and over again without tiring. I have probably seen it over fifty times.

  • @nujac321 dude is this based on peter shaffers amadeus ? cus i have this as a novel for english this term , i was wondering if i could watch this movie to get a better understanding of the novel ?

  • @wwicka yes!

  • @nujac321 Same here. Love it! Better than highschool Musical and all that!

  • @nujac321 get a life and stop allowing hollywood to pollute yer mind

  • @Afroxec You need to calm down Mr. "New World Order." Its just entertainment.

  • @nujac321 ur mind is diseased by celebrities

  • @Afroxec yours is diseased by overreaction.

  • @nujac321 @Afroxec you kids stop fighting or we're turning this car right around and going home!

    xx

  • @groovylocks hehehe!

  • @nujac321 absolutely - I remember watching this when I was in 8th grade...and still love it at age 29!

  • @cdiciurcio ha really? im watching it right now as well :D (8th grade beginning band)

  • thanks so much for listing all the music! =)

  • Does anyone know the song in 7:17?

  • @greenhalos725 See my comment below yours.

  • The Priest's facial expressions are funny.

  • this is so brilliantly done

  • TE AMOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JAJA BUENO ES QUE AMADEUS ES DE MIS PELICULAS FAVORITAS YYYYYY!!!!!!!! AYYYYY ME MUERO TE ADORO GRACIAS, GRACIAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHA SOBRE TODO AMO LOS MILAGROS QUE LE OCURREN A SALIERI HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wooooaaaa naked man lol

  • I love the Mozart vs. Salieri legend! I first watched this movie, read the original play, and listened to the songs from "Mozart L'Opéra Rock" and I could quote this movie in everyday situations... that's how much I love it! ^3^

  • In Germany almost all foreign films are synchronized and dubbed-over - generally I prefer to watch the original with subtitles but Amadeus is one of the few exceptions: the German dubbing was perfect, giving them a slight Austrian accent while I find the original American-English a little "odd" for the setting.

  • im sad to say this but this movie has kicked titanic off my podium for the saddest movie

  • @TeamJacob1903

Man. You need to go watch Into the Wild, Apocalypse now and The Road.

  • This is one of the most impressive films I ever saw in my youth...I have watched it 20 times by now and still can't get enough of it...say the least of Mozarts music, for which this films opened my ears....

  • @sendanor hahaha same with me dude i just can't stop watching it nor listening to mozart music, they're both so amazing

  • i watched this at my school. :) in orchestra

  • The guy in the beginning...isn't that the guy from Ghost? The ghost that rode the trains?

  • @nooyawkfun yup

  • @nooyawkfun

Yup! That's him. He's also the biology teacher from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Great guy!

  • What is that Salieri song from 7:18 - 7:44 , can anyone tell me? Thanks!

  • que buena pelicula!!!!!!!! realmente espectacular

  • Where is the "Charming" Mozart tune that Salieri plays on his keyboard from? (guess what? the Firefox spell-check add on recognises Mozart, but not Salieri...)

  • @david552

The Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major, K. 525 was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787. The work is more commonly known by the title Eine kleine Nachtmusik. The German title means "a little serenade", though it is often rendered more literally but less accurately as "a little night music".

  • @Piebauld AH! of course it is! Cheers :-)

  • The fat guy eating directly from the glass, gross

  • so who died in this part?

  • @Titan232065 noo one did.

  • アマデウスモーツァルトは凄く偉大で変わってて凄くこだわりがある人何だなって思いました。

  • "All men are equal in God's eyes."

  • Everyone should see this movie. Besides beeing a masterpiece of film making, it enlightens people to appreciate music.

  • I think this can now be considered a cult classic because whenever it plays in the theaters here in Austin, Texas it's always sold out!

  • I think this film would have been better if it had begun with old man Salieri, talking to the Father, unexplained.

  • master piece this is european culture , one of the best movies ever in my top 5

  • italy ,germany , austria the heart of europe

  • please, what is the lovely tune at 7:06?

  • @GuqinZheng It's from Axur, re d'Ormus ("Axur, king of Ormus"). Exactly which piece I cannot say. This opera is again shown later in the movie, when the emepror presents Salieri with a medallion and praises his work.

  • .... Dude, you've made my day.... Thank you so much for uploading the whole movie! :D *hugz marianmus*

  • "Signore, if you don't open this door, we're going to eat everything and leave nothing for you!' LOL best threat ever.

  • @angelofmusic1992 It's like something you say to a child who doesn't want to go to school XD

  • @angelofmusic1992 You named it! ;)

  • Whats the title of the song at 7:26????

  • @GuguCapa It's "Son queste le speranze", an aria in Salieri`s "Axur, Re d`Ormus"

  • @stebathor I assumed it was that! considering that the clothes katerina wears are the same she wears later in the movie when she acts the final act of Axur, thank you lol

  • @GuguCapa In fact, Katerina Cavalieri never performed in Axur, Re d'Ormus : Luisa Laschi-Mombelli performed the role of Aspasia but maybe, in the film, it's the same actress.

  • This is one of the best openings of a film. It had always captivated me, even when I was a kid. This movie is one of the top reasons why I wanted to get into filmmaking. Does anyone know the pastry that is eaten in the beginning???

  • BEST FILM EVER

DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE CAN NEVER SEE IT ON TV, CABLE, WHATEVER

  • @palalan I KNOW! Why the heck is this movie never on TV? You'd think they'd show it on AMC or TCM, especially since it IS a classic and won, like, eleven Oscars.

  • @palalan it actually won 7 Oscars, including best actor and BEST film !!!!

that's why I really apreciate Marianmus to have posted Amadeus ♥

  • Best MUSIC EVER

  • Abraham won a oscar for his role as salieri. but it's disappointing his career never really took off., He never came close of equally his performance as Salieri.
