  • i think tims in trouble...

  • Fucking Tim.

  • Comment removed

  • good that he hit the wall, cos i reckon he would have hit that car infront if he went in that speed.

  • pl dont hit the wall lol

  • Hahahhaahahhahahahhaahaha no tim nooo

  • haha aw for fuck sack tim

  • At least he didn't take an arrow in the knee.

  • This shit sucks man...

  • damn you tim. . . damn you. . .

  • he entered the corner to fast an when he realised that he turned in to hard causing the back end to step out and that made him lose control? am i right?

  • Use a GTR next time

  • @sksgamer1 oh LMAO... hhaahah or an evo x!

  • If you can't drive fast don't do that next time!

  • Richard Hammond does the same thing in a 911 GT3 RS in Top Gear. and he drives fast for a living. Sort it out VRW!

  • This is why my personal track cars are not expensive.

  • why didnt u turn your wheel right or at least straight while sliding backwards?

  • Only read a few comments and they are like all wrong... He lost it because he was driving at a speed that would be great if the track was in flat in that place at the run off point but i goes up and then down because it a big bump there so on the up he gets better grip but hehe on the "downhill" of the bump it's bye bye to the friction and the car get "airborne" and crashes because he was driving at the treshold of that turn. It's importent to drive as straight as you can over bumps like that!

  • @Polishsebbe Incorrect. I have driven VIR quite a few times. His mistake is simple. He entered the first corner of the esses way too early. His early apex in the first corner doomed him. It set him up to hit the 2nd turn's apex a good 75 ft EARLIER than the Viper. His line was so far off that he was aiming straight for the grass and was far to the left when he should've been far to the right.

To save the R8, he should've driven straight off and picked up the track 300ft ahead.

  • Hi, my name is Tim and I taught him to take his traction control off... hahaha. JK

  • DAMMIT TIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it possible that he could've recovered it by instead of turning the steering wheel to one direction and holding it, he could have turned it one direction for a split second, then countersteered it to opposite lock (or to the opposite direction) making it not SPIN in a circle - or sideways in this case - into a wall, but catching the momentum and causing more friction and resistance from spinning which I think could slow the car down...

Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

  • @sashaman1234

Possible, yes. Realistic for an amateur driver sliding through the grass at ~100 MPH, unlikely. The old proverb is "when in a spin, both feet in". Meaning hold the clutch and brake pedal. Sometimes trying to wrangle the car back onto the track causes more problems then if you just hit whatever you were trying to avoid in the first place.

  • @sashaman1234 It is possible (and this is what I would done instinctively), but I still fear that the combination of speed and slickness of the grass may be too much for frictional forces to overcome.

  • @s3xR8

I think at a real high speed its much less likely to work, but if you have time to turn the wheel to the right, wait to hit the wall, hope you don't hit the wall, and then yell when you do - in my opinion, in speeds/situations like that, it could work.

s3xR8 are you speaking from track experience or 'internet track' experience? Admittedly, I'm speaking from what I've experienced in video games, though I have autocrossed my car on an actual track before, so I have some kind of idea.

  • @sashaman1234 Track experience.

  • @s3xR8 And for the record, locking himself might have been the best thing he could have done. There's a chance that if he countersteered, he would have turned the car another 90 degrees and totaled it on a quarter-head on collision. If my memory serves me correctly, this gentleman was able to drive the car away from VIR with only side body damage.

  • @s3xR8

Ah. So what I recommended (with an experienced driver) wouldn't have worked? Do you drive an R8 on the track as well s3xR8?

  • @sashaman1234 The only things, in my humble opinion, that might have saved this driver would have been either a) better driving, or b) downforce fins on the lower front bumper. The reason he came around in the first place is because at the traveling speed, the front of the car lifted over the turn, and the weight of the rear brought it around. Steering at that point had little to do with the direction he was going to end up; it was dictated by the draw of the turn.

  • @s3xR8 My opinion is that experienced drivers would have tried the countersteering method you mentioned, but it likely wouldn't have done much of anything to save the car. In fact, this driver's choice to lock the wheel probably saved him from totaling it, while a more experienced driver might have regretted that experience in hindsight. The only thing that may have saved the car after it was set in its trajectory would have been gravel instead of grass.

  • @s3xR8

I'm glad you spoke your real, raw opinion on the issue. I need a slap in the face when I think that a little autocrossing + sim racing video games will justify me acting like I know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the response s3xR8. You're right, the way he entered the corner would have made all the difference in the world, I was just more focused on how he could have saved it afterward, but I guess at that point its more chance and luck than skill. Nice talking to ya.

  • @s3xR8 "Experienced" drivers wouldn't have been off line, and wouldn't have gone off track in the first place. He didn't turn in early enough.

  • @JustinHoMi I think that's already been pretty well established at this point.

  • @JustinHoMi The conversation I was having with the other gentleman was about what happened after he lost control.

  • @s3xR8 Bingo. He was carrying too much speed through that section and was trying to force the line. It was the combination of speed and the curve and rise of the turn that sealed his fate.

  • @sashaman1234 And yes, an R8.

  • The WALL! God dammit!

  • east bound and down!

  • please don't hit the wall... please DON'T HIT THE WALL... PLEASE DON'T HIT THE WALL GOD DAMN IT|!

  • It'll be okay Tim. Looks like you and your friend won't be friends anymore. But you don't need him anyway Tim. We're all better off alone by ourselves anyway.

  • The video got stopped right before the best moment. That 2nd god dammit sounded so much more intense. LOL<

  • "JAN GADDAMMIT"

  • Oh timmy ! What will mommy say!? When that AUDI finally gave up the grip it REALLY let go!Truly sorry... bummr dude....

  • Ive been there before out drifting my 240 loose it mid corner or after and praying to every god in the world that you dont hit that wall! granted i can get a whole new shell for less then this guys insurance deductible lol.

  • thats what u get fro taking that sort of machine to the track

  • GOD DAMN IT TIM!!!

  • I think Auto Journalists should watch this when reviewing a car going "WOOOOOOW that over steer was great what a great car"... Stupid noobs this is what happens!

  • Thats why i prefer driving in GT5 or Forza3. Shift 2 isn't but too.

  • I did the EXACT SAME THING in the EXACT SAME SPOT and can still remember the sinking feeling in my stomach while sliding backwards.

What a STUPID place for a tire barrier. Once you see three sets of tracks off the track at the same spot, INSTALL RUN OFF (gravel, NOT GRASS). I don't get it. Tracks depending on trackday guys should make an effort to protect the cars and drivers so they can pay more fees. In my case, I wrecked 3 years ago and haven't been back since. NJMP has same problem.

  • @richardlparris "What a STUPID place for a tire barrier"

What a stupid place to put your car. The idea is to stay on the paved surface. If you can't do that, then you are driving beyond you or your car's capabilities. If they put a gravel trap everywhere someone went off then they would have to start lining the outside of the track with gravel.

Maybe you should stick to golf.

  • what a mean-spirited comment. This is the type of thinking that took Nascar 50 years to realize that soft barriers improve the sport, and keep the AMA tracks looking beat while moto gp and world superbike and F1 have tracks that look like....golf courses. If you think track days are about testosterone and showing how tough you are, you obviously haven't hit a wall at speed or don't have much to go home to.

  • @richardlparris "you obviously haven't hit a wall at speed or don't have much to go home to"

No I haven't. Thus far I have driven within my means. No I don't. Yet I still arrive home safely every time.

F1, Moto GP, and World Superbikes are much different than a track day event. For one, they have a shit ton of money. If you want a track day with top tier track technology, then expect to pay top tier money. Until then stop whining about affordable track days tracks and learn to drive.

  • @sneedbl

BTW, so you happen to drive a Porsche?

  • @sneedbl "right on, coach. who the heck goes online to find arguments.....i'm sure you get enough static from people actually in your life. relax and take it out somewhere else, dude.

If you can't get behind the idea of run-off areas and soft barriers your opinions have no merit...and if you have ever been to VIR you would know that that spot is ridiculous. Some pro drivers can dictate the safety of their sport, and do. Period. Nothing about $ at stake. Rational actors. google it."

  • @richardlparris I didn't come looking for an argument but rather but found an arrogant douche bag whose comments I could not resist replying to. I understand the idea of track safety. Such as the tires that VIR lines the Armco separating the Patriot course from people such as yourself who could not keep their car on track on the uphill esses. Perhaps you also think they should wrap the monkey bars where you hit your head as a child with bubble wrap.

Again, did you wreck your Porsche?

  • i have compassion for him, i would be pissed of too :(

  • wrong entry but nice try.... ahhh, i bet you got a new one!

  • YEAH TIM, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT TIM? GOD DAMN IT TIM.

  • hey richard hammond crashed at the same place on the top gear us special !

  • This is why you buy a track car you can afford to crash.

  • @3y3sho7 i agree

  • please don't hit the please don't hit the STOP! tim god damn it DAMN IT!

  • dammit tim.

  • Yeah he was definitely reeling that guy in quickly. Not a big fan of R8's but feel bad for the guy.

  • FUCK GOD DAMNED!!! HAHAHAHAHA :D

  • why would you cry about smashing your car if you take it to a race track? LOL what a retard.

  • Fuck me, this would suck.

  • Please don't hit the wall please don't hit the wall (while doing nothing) LMFAO

  • Classic amateur, watching the car in front getting closer and feeling like a hot shit racing pro.

There's a reason you got so close....GOD DAMMIT.

I wonder if this guy is related to the guy in the Lime Rock rollover?

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • tsk. sucks. couldnt see foot from camera angle. so what happened? lifted before the crest eh?

  • Two reasons why this happened. Firstly it's an american driving. Secondly it's an american attempting to drive round a corner

  • @GussetMonkey go back to watching a your second class news in your second class country with your pussy sports(soccer) and please don't touch my car(F1) something might fall off.

  • @stangglancy lol

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • top gear went there!

  • ahhahahah poor man XD

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA.180K FAIL.

  • ITS ALL TIM'S FAULT GODDAMNIT!!!

  • Please don't hit the wall....Please don't hit the wall....FUCK!

  • God Damn it Tim.. Look what you made me do!!

  • Wow, really fucked up that hunk of track. I'd suggest gettin a bomber stock car and learning how to drive, it's a lot less expensive then tearing up Audi after Audi trying to figure it out.

  • @505197 - Wow, you seem to know everything about everything - from bare knuckle fighting, race tracks, Motorcycles, the military, high performance street cars, drugs, racing cars . . . your just an 'all American Hero' macho wannabee, sat on his computer getting fat ! ha ha ha

  • @505197 I dont see why it matters to you mate? because you cant effort one? or he has money and balls to try to race in a 150k-200k car in a race track? yeah agreed to have a cheaper stock car and learn, but it is his preference, and he is the one responsible of his actions at the end... but dont forget, even the top race drivers makes mistakes, and they can waste 1M+ cars in split second mistakes... it is easy to judge from the comfort of your monitor and keyboard.

  • @mysticusa Because I can't "effort one"? I presume you mean I can't afford one. If I can afford one or not isn't the point, he still can't drive worth a shit and has a fucked up Audi to prove it. And in case you haven't noticed, there's plenty of "top race drivers" who can't drive a stake up a goat's ass, they just drive race cars that's all. Take Kyle Petty, he had a long career in stock car racing only due to his name, same with Michael Waltrip. Neither could carry a real driver's helmet.

  • @505197 u r doing exactly the same thing as i said in my last sentence. you dont drive race cars, so u dont know what u r talking about, it is easy to judge in front of computer screen... racing in real is quite different than just pressing WSAD(or up/down/left/right) buttons! It may seem very easy, all due to the fact of over confidence and ignorance of reality mate! U can say anything in your comment, they are just not credible and worth a dime, unless u drive a race car for long enough!

  • @mysticusa I drove race cars, real race cars, not play day cars. I'm sixty and was still setting fast times in qualifying at 55, gimmie a few laps to warm up and I'd do it today. . I grew up next door to a stock car track, all my heros drove racers. I learned how to drive in their parkin lot, sideways and throwing graval in a Henry J I had a gokart, I know Frank Kimmel personally., and Charlie Glotzbach, and Bill Cheesbourg, he raced Indy. I've been around and I've done my share of racing.

  • @505197 again, if u have been driving race car this long as you claim, you would not lay this kind of insults like this as you would know that how easy2loose control due2a split sec mistake,or some car anomaly due2weight or brake distributions n causing bias in the grip causing uncontrollable situations. more so someone who is trying to learn on his car of choice, should not be an interest or reason for you to insult... he may ve maybe used used cars? things can happen2anyone not just ameteurs

  • @mysticusa You left out a mistake by the driver. He manages to completely loose control of his car and wrecks. No excuses, the car didn't drive itself out on that track, he did. Another thing is to recognise as early as possible you've fucked up, and how to use brakes or gas to influence where it ends up. A locked up slide down the track beats wrecking. When the compass on the mirror keeps changing yer fucked. . Stock car drivers are better then road racers, IROC proved that vividly.

  • @505197 using breaks would not influence anything over there as the car is already going sideways mate, if u know physics, it'd not matter at all esp after on the grass even if u were strait!he overshoots the corner at a little extra speed (momentum) thn physics take over,he recognizes the mistake n knows his car's value thats why he's upset.stock car analogy doesnt make sense, unless u r talking about stock car road racing idiots w/o the knowledge of physics and huge overconfidence over nothing

  • @mysticusa You need to learn how to comprehend what your're lookin at captin. Look at what he's aimed at when he loses it, he's makin a RIGHT hand turn, so the trajectory is headed left off the course, If he'd have hit a patch of ice at the crest of that hill do you think he'd have gone wide to the left ? He misdrove it so fuckin badly he ended up turning it into the right wall on a right corner, it takes traction to do that, Quit trying to justify bad driving, fuk his feelings

  • @505197 "watch?v=FsMoktU88GE" watch alonso's crash and his steering wheel position! after the corner and i know it s different here, but u either ignore physics or u dont wanna admit being over ur head about being rude. watch?v=TzPVWUZmXWE watch steering wheel here after corner, if u drive race cars u d justify his reaction not the shouting part but steering wheel control... so quit being rude mate, accept physics and be nice, being a sportsmen brings in attitude as well.

  • Get fucking shit on. Haha

  • you can see by the camaro getting larger, he sucks at driving lmao

  • @jaiBavet

pretty sure its an older viper, at least hes doing this on a track where its safe..

just looks like he didn't scrub any or enuff speed off before the turns..

  • way to fast

  • The way he holds the wheel, he will hit the wall. :D

  • Lift off oversteer is a killer. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

  • He was going too fast there, should have at least brake a bit before the small hill, than let of the gas and step on it after passing the hill, awaiting some oversteer. Poor guy, made a mistake, but that happens to beginners, guys should learn to study the course before they go all out, than they wouldn't end up crashing.

  • poor guy

  • TIM GOD DAMMIT!!! GOD DAMMIT!!! LOL!!! so funny when its not you.

  • now quickly push it outside into a ditch and call the insurance company haha

  • I'm no expert but I think he could have saved it if her turned his wheel the other way after he spun out.

  • @SnowboardinWNY No he couldnt. If you go into that corner to fast, you'll jump in the middle of it, since its a pretty big bump in the middle. No way to save it. He should have been more careful and go trough slower like others in front of him.

  • shit happens.

  • It's funny to watch people who think they can drive at a track day.

  • is that Rampage Jackson?

  • He's right to be pissed! Daddy's gonna kick his ass!

  • Well, I used to race, sure... it wasnt a car of even a fraction of this caliber, but the concept was the same "Dont race it if you cant risk crashing it"

  • Look at how many sets of skid marks there are going straight out of that corner into the grass. Looks like he isn't the first one to do that. I'm also guessing by the fact that he was so worried about hittng the wall, the car wasn't his, and someone might be pretty pissed he wrecked it.

  • haha

  • should of kept on counter steering

  • should have invested in more downforce

  • Is the driver's name Tim?:S

  • Thanks for sharing, mistakes can help other's learn. In this situation once you realized you were into the corner way too fast, you need to quickly evaluation your safest routes out of the situation. Neutral throttle and straighten the wheel and taken to the grass which would have brought you back on track (without hitting the viper) again to start braking again to bring the car under control.

  • Gawd dammit Tim! gotta love the yanks

  • perfect example of braking hard into a corner...

  • He set his turns up wrong. When you set one up wrong the next one will surely kick your ass...

  • LOL

  • To those of you hating and saying how shit he is, at least he's on the track trying to learn.

Yes he has a baller car, yes he fucked up but don't hate on him for trying.

  • @DUCWIDT were not hating on him for trying we are hating on him for sucking

  • @DUCWIDT They are all just mad that they can't afford to track an R8

  • That wall is there to make sure it teaches that lesson to people like him so they never come back.

  • @ProPainC63 the wall is there so when there is a mishap by an error caused by either the driver or mechnical.. damage would be reduced

  • @AntDX316 Really? LOL It was a joke dude.. :)

  • @ProPainC63 lol : )

  • looks like it became light over that slight hill. the slight turn didnt help either :D

  • apexed a tad early

  • what a fucking noob, he took the corner way too late. He didnt deserver to drive an audi R8

  • Hope he paid for racing/track insurance

  • Hahahahaha This guy is retarded. WORSE LINE EVER.

  • @Unitedfitco176 His line was fine...

  • Is Tim the guy upfront who he couldnt catch?

  • Oh god damn it Tim, isn't that where hammond from top gear span off too?

  • I dont know your experience with racing but i saw that coming from a mile away. it was a bad line, and you were going to fast. as far as hitting the wall. im not sure there was anything you coulda done to avoid it. but accidents happen and atleast you are ok

  • Comment removed

  • @apfdf it was less of a camber and more of a crest that flattened out at the apex. he hit the apex too early and was exiting out of the turn before the top of the crest. thus he was fully steering into the turn plus going over the crest= disaster. so yeah, it wasnt the best line. and for the line he took, yes he was going to fast. the "camber" of the track was not wrong.. its part of the track and its up to the driver to adjust his lines according to it

  • @evodrifter2145 And driving a mid-rear engine to add to the factor. Ive seen this happen a lot to drivers who aren't used to the rear engine layout.

  • @trip7shark yeah definitely. there is a video of a guy racing an s2k in a lotus elise. he drove over a crest off the throttle on a sharp left. the rear end swung around faster than you could say :f*ck me: lol

  • @evodrifter2145 Excellent points, evodrifter. I laugh at the critiques that are just wrong.

The uphill esses are a high-speed momentum section. You don't hit your brakes, you don't lift. You don't nail the throttle. Like a slalom, you want a proper entry speed, keep constant throttle and hit the apexes cleanly according to the characteristics of your particular vehicle.

The R8 hit his apexes early. The first early apex meant his line entering the next was severely off. He lifted and spun.

  • @evodrifter2145 yea man, finally someone who knows what they are talking about! :)

  • GOD DAMMIT TIM

  • yea s baby

  • when you choose to race, you gotta accept the risks that come with it.

  • shoulda put it in reverse and floored it.. isn't that car AWD?

  • I would be like that if i hit a wall with an Audi R8 too. =/ that car is just too amazing to crash.

  • Alot of these amateurs just have enough money to buy an expensive car once. Then they think they are car guys and think they know everything about cars, and racing too. All too often this happens. Racing is expensive and Dangerous.

  • @garychios lol racing is not expensive or dangerous. if you're a good driver, with some leftover cash, you can build a track car and then if you do hit something, you won't be like "FUUUUUUUU"

  • @tacomanfan344 got 6 billion to build a proper track? smh

  • @AGuidoR42636 i didn't know you had to build your own track to race your car.

  • @tacomanfan344 i miss read you post bud. I thought you said, "build a track" but you said track car.

  • @AGuidoR42636 alright no harm done

  • ouch knew right when that was going to happen as soon as i saw the little crest

  • hey driver watch top gear more often and u would kno the r8 spins easy or if you fishtailed on the grass the car is not a subaru

  • "hey dad".............this big fucking truck carrying tires came out of nowhere........"

  • Can't corner with the Viper

  • what did tim do? seems like it was all your fault...

  • LOL look at the mirror at the end!!!

  • the fucker should have eased the gas in the little hill, and then the fuckin car is an AWD. also, as soime other comments said gonig backwards with the wheel pointing towards the wall what an asshole he had time to think

  • @V8block8 can't do much on grass...

anyway, that didn't seem like it was too tough - I guess the video doesn't really capture the magnitude of the little hill in the beginning of that turn?

  • @polypolyman yes grass is slippery but the car could have taken another direction if he turned the wheels the opposite side, the little hill, well its really very little, but it still makes the car lose grip when going down and thats why this guy crashes, all for trying to keep up with the viper

  • Why people give up steering when skidding backwards ???

    .

The only reason why he crashed the car is because he kept pointing the steering wheel in to the wall he crashed when he was going backwards

    .

    0:14

    .

Just because he was skidding backwards does not mean the steering became useless .

ABS means your brakes will never block the wheels so you can always try to point the car in the correct direction even when skidding backwards , the wall he crashed seem to be quite far from the track

  • @niceboy60 true that

  • expensive mistake :(

  • hahahahahaaaaa

  • aghhh tim god damit!

  • keep pressing 9

  • keep replaying 0:21 he shits himself

  • hahahahahaha

  • If you race your car be prepared to wreck your car period even the best can have it happen this guy was at fault I agree turning into that corner sooner would have prevented it but hey thats what happens man

  • noob. its not GT5.

  • little slow on the opposite lock there buddy?

  • bbbhahahahahahahahh

  • If you slow it down, you can see the exact moment when his talent runs out...look for it starting at 0.00 until the end...

  • @placenm Have you driven VIR? He seemed to be doing fine, until he ended up way early for turn 8.... Hard to tell, but looks like too quick a correction to turn-in, without lifting (speculation), leading to the rear end going out. Sounds like Audi's partly to blame, I've driven like that, and my JDM Accord A-spec doesn't go batshit like that.

  • Bahahahaaa rage quit son. Rageeee

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • you push limit the car and you expect to not hit the wall ? lol sucks for the guy ...

  • it's ur fault for not steering left early to make that left bend, steering early to the next corner prevents crap like this from happening
