@TheRugul dub cork. It TECHNICALLY should be double underflip, but nobody wants to analyze it that deep anyways. There for any backflip+spinning combo now translates to cork. Frontflip + spinning motion is a misty. It's just to keep it simple.
Of course there are bios, underflips, supercorks, and a couple others....but nobody really wants to take the time to analyze it.

Freestyle skiing the half-pipe has the same tricks but I'd rather snowboard. I thought of half-pipes everywhere over 25 years ago and not just for snowboarding. It's the safest way to get the most action efficiently and when it's downhill you don't have to worry much about efficiency. So what took so long? SM skatepark built way late by June 2005. Did we have to wait for the economy to smoke the majority to get wild public funding/spending? What was the true year that the crisis even started?

when I used to snowboard, I would just ride through the middle of the pipe and go about 5 feet up the sides and ride back down to the other side. it was fun anyways.

I dont really like his attitude towards snowboarding. It seems like snowboarding isnt really about having fun to him, for shaun it's more about being the best. For example, he built his own half million dollar halfpipe with a heli lift to the top, but wouldnt let anyone else ride it so that they couldnt practice on it. If i had my own pipe, id be so stoked to ride it with my friends you know? I just dont like that, especially since he is like the face of snowboarding.

pros from a few seasons before the olympics could have topped shauns gold run. But i think having cab doubble corks and back to back doubble corks performed by a few riders is just fricken rediculous. I hate flat spins in the pipe, they have no style. With the 22ft pipe, people can soar higher and slow their spins down to really add a lot of steez. I find a hell of a lotta steeze in these doubble corks
There was a kid doing doubles within a week of M-Chuck first doing them in competition. I think it was during the US Open in March of 1998 in VT (have it on home video). I also saw him in 2005 at the Triple Crown in Northstar throwing huge doubles into cab flips and attempted cab doubles... I don't know that he ever pulled it together during a contest run... M-chuck was incredible but I always felt like I was going to witness carnage when he rode. Maybe that's what made him fun to watch...
Mike Michalchuk was doing double rodeos in pipe competitions back in the 90's. His looked just as good and perhaps better than the ones the kids are doing today. You're right though with the back to back doubles, I don't know about anyone doing that until now.
I'm fairly certain (90%) that the first trick is Luke Mitrani doing a Michalchuk and not Shaun White doing a double cork. That may a possible reason for some of the confusion.
I read an article in Transworld Snowboarding in the mid-1990's about how half-pipes are going to get bigger in the future. During the mid 1990's the standard contest half-pipe increased from 8-10 ft. to 10-12 ft. The author suggested that transitions would reach approximately 40 ft. in the future. It was a very absurb statement at the time. However, today we have 22 ft. half-pipes and 30 ft. quarter-pipes. If anyone comes across that artice let me know what issue it was in.
Mike Michalchuk should get credit for pushing it to the next level but Shaun's run is way more difficult. The "Michalchuk" is more of a double backflip instead of a double cork. Luke Mitrani does a "Michalchuk" in this contest. Mike usually did his trick on the last hit in the pipe and Shaun is doing back to back double corks. Mike did his trick when pipes were smaller which is more difficult. They are both great in their own regard. Terje is the best.
I agree man, Michalchuk was pretty amazing. I guess he was too ahead of his time. Michaelchuk was really gnarly in the pipe all around. Terje has such great control, smooth style, and perfect execution, it almost seems like he's getting bored though with the same tricks he's still doing. I'd like to see him do some double cork stuff. I think one guy nobody talks about anymore that had some really cool style was fmr burton rider Derek Heidt, cool methods, indy, and stalefish...

I dont really like his attitude towards snowboarding. It seems like snowboarding isnt really about having fun to him, for shaun it's more about being the best. For example, he built his own half million dollar halfpipe with a heli lift to the top, but wouldnt let anyone else ride it so that they couldnt practice on it. If i had my own pipe, id be so stoked to ride it with my friends you know? I just dont like that, especially since he is like the face of snowboarding.

In the Burton movie this year, white does back to back double flips followed by a 1080. Probably win Olympics with that run.

pros from a few seasons before the olympics could have topped shauns gold run. But i think having cab doubble corks and back to back doubble corks performed by a few riders is just fricken rediculous. I hate flat spins in the pipe, they have no style. With the 22ft pipe, people can soar higher and slow their spins down to really add a lot of steez. I find a hell of a lotta steeze in these doubble corks

There was a kid doing doubles within a week of M-Chuck first doing them in competition. I think it was during the US Open in March of 1998 in VT (have it on home video). I also saw him in 2005 at the Triple Crown in Northstar throwing huge doubles into cab flips and attempted cab doubles... I don't know that he ever pulled it together during a contest run... M-chuck was incredible but I always felt like I was going to witness carnage when he rode. Maybe that's what made him fun to watch...

Mike Michalchuk was doing double rodeos in pipe competitions back in the 90's. His looked just as good and perhaps better than the ones the kids are doing today. You're right though with the back to back doubles, I don't know about anyone doing that until now.

a lot of these look more like double flips with some spin than double cork 1080s. shawn palmer deserves so much credit for these happening too

I'm fairly certain (90%) that the first trick is Luke Mitrani doing a Michalchuk and not Shaun White doing a double cork. That may a possible reason for some of the confusion.

I read an article in Transworld Snowboarding in the mid-1990's about how half-pipes are going to get bigger in the future. During the mid 1990's the standard contest half-pipe increased from 8-10 ft. to 10-12 ft. The author suggested that transitions would reach approximately 40 ft. in the future. It was a very absurb statement at the time. However, today we have 22 ft. half-pipes and 30 ft. quarter-pipes. If anyone comes across that artice let me know what issue it was in.

Mike Michalchuk should get credit for pushing it to the next level but Shaun's run is way more difficult. The "Michalchuk" is more of a double backflip instead of a double cork. Luke Mitrani does a "Michalchuk" in this contest. Mike usually did his trick on the last hit in the pipe and Shaun is doing back to back double corks. Mike did his trick when pipes were smaller which is more difficult. They are both great in their own regard. Terje is the best.

I agree man, Michalchuk was pretty amazing. I guess he was too ahead of his time. Michaelchuk was really gnarly in the pipe all around. Terje has such great control, smooth style, and perfect execution, it almost seems like he's getting bored though with the same tricks he's still doing. I'd like to see him do some double cork stuff. I think one guy nobody talks about anymore that had some really cool style was fmr burton rider Derek Heidt, cool methods, indy, and stalefish...

Wow!! Amazing! Totally next level, that's all I can say! How the heck are judges going to score him now!?! All the other guys that are only doing single flip tricks and 7s or 9s are toast. I wonder if they'll get 50s and Shaun will be in the 90s or something. All the Shaun haters out there are totally eating it now. He's SOOO above anyone else in the pipe. He's like TRice but in the halfpipe. Amazing!

nope watch it for example at 0:40 its kind of a double backroll late 180 and its not the first "double" in a competition in pipe. watch the movie "nine lives" at 40:22

actually he did land it very clean, the winning run is in the first half of the video, starting at 0:53, he only did a hand touch on the second cork. for some reason there is another attempt at the end of the video which is more sketchy and he sits down on
