  • Love the Manics. Great version, thanks for posting.

  • In my book one of the best pop songs of all time - so melodic, and a brilliant honest lyric

  • James Dean Bradfield's got it all - looks, talent, success; what a voice!

  • @eurostar35 I thought the song related to the Brits sending young people to help Spanish Republicans to fight in the Civil War. Hence the sentence " If you tolerate this,...

  • GREAT MANICCC!!!!

  • absolutely stunning acoustic version, fantastic

  • MANICS ROCKS

  • When you delete black people from the directors cut, so who will be the next. Sorry I'm knagging about this, but it's important. I love you guys and saw you on the stage in Oulu Finland. You were great. But kamoon!

  • Absolutely love them! Just awesome!

  • great great stuuff!!!!

  • Absolutely love them! Where have they gone?

  • they've gone nowhere!!! they played in my hometown last night :D still as amazing as ever

  • AWESOME :)

  • brilliant, just brilliant.... strong message and beautiful song.

  • just perfect as always..

  • great tune well played

  • do they really need the rhythm guitarist here?

  • maybe coz there's no drummer? dunno lets ask em lol

  • @menogay near all manics songs have 2 guitars in them - that's what richie mimed on stage

  • Take a look outside the box, tell me what you see.

Are you blind to the truth, or scared of being free?

  • And I prefer the original version of that song ("Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles).

Don't know 'bout the lyrics though.

  • mass media mind control.

the truth will set you free.

  • he says, on youtube of all places, owned by google!!

  • Wonderful song! I´ve got goosebumps!

But has James a red tongue?

  • i love this song soooo much

  • Everybody could be next. A finnish teacher murdered his family, his wife and two children and himself. How much grief and pain we can stand? Who can you trust if you can't trust the dearest ones?

  • I am sorry for your loss, our loss?? my mind is scrambled with so much violence.

  • I think you missed the point, but true what you say.

  • thanks, gri. i get goose bump when James sings:"bullets fry a brain today..but we forget it all again. miss u

  • spot on :)

  • If you tolerate this:700 billion bailout..then your children will be NExT!!Don't give in to these greedy M fukers!! Greed and advarice of the wealthy. we will be eliminated.

  • I miss you, my friend

  • DO NOT TOleRate bullies at work!~!you children will be Next!

  • I have a thought on the Richie/Wayne issue discussed 2 months ago: perhaps as the lads have played and operated as a 3 piece for so long that it would be hard for them to accept anyone else as a fully paid up member of the manics considering the trauma of Richie's disappearance and subsequent "battering down the hatches" and soldiering on mentality. Also there is the respect thing as well - not morbid to always keep his spot on stage empty, just a gesture, an acknowledgement of his memory.

  • I love this song even more now. :) This version is lush!

  • GRANDE JAMES!!!!!! =^~^=/")

  • que cancion tan buenaaaa! they are so good ! 90´s music ....are the best! saludos desde venezuelaaaa

  • that young lad on guitar next to James, he basically gets ignored it seems. At gigs he is always tucked away in a corner of the stage. Is that maybe in order to keep Richie's spot on the stage open as it were? And then there is the keyboard player..

  • yes its cos they like to keep richies spot open ... he may turn up on day... i dont personally think richey rejoin the band if he did return home...

  • how sweet. But what a massive pain in the arse for the lad. I personally think Richie is dead. And what sane person wouldn't want the Manics to move on after 13 years? Possibly they are milking the Richie-saga a bit.

  • No, i think they genuinely miss their mate. I know everyone thinks he won't come back but they can live in hope.

  • Richie is still ALIVE! at least his soul is. is this r's last recorded vid??

  • to lucinda2005: richey isn't in this vid if thats what you're asking.

  • Richey Edwards disappeared 1 February 1995. He hasn't been seen (conclusively anyways) since then. This video was recorded the earliest 2006 though most likely it has been recorded 2007 or 2008.

  • does this look like 1996 quality?

  • ah, you mean wayne murray? yes he is great and i think they should include him more and hopefully let him on the next album, i think fellow manics fans would like the idea if they will hold a grudge over him replacing richey its just childish! and sean read, he doesnt get as much attention as nick naysmyth did, i think they need to be out there a little more, give them the respect they disserve! they are young, cool why not let them on the next album??

  • your children will be next

  • classic!!! been around 4 so long, great group and amazing live. keep up the good work lads

  • Oh for fuck sake James smile!!!!

    :¬)

    5/5

  • Come on, i think similing would ruin the aura of the song. It would trivialise its lyrics and devalue it.

  • yeah! james has an amazing smile, eyes and personality, musission! personally i'd give him a full over 20/10! lol hes amazing! oh, what i'd love to do to him.. :D :P

  • nemusim...nerada zapadam do davu :)

  • :D To neva, občas někdo i rozumí :DD

  • mam rada tuto verziu ...

  • Jo jo je dobra.. ale jsou i lepsi;) jinak tady masusis anglicky nebo nemecky kote ;)

  • are those Taylor guitars?

  • Gravity keeps my head down

    Or is it maybe shame

At being so young and being so vain... <3

  • what a voice! amazing

  • Cançó genial amb una lletra impressionant. Gràcies, Manics.

  • Hi estic d'acord. Una obra d'art.

  • The title of this song does indeed relate to the Spanish Civil War, but more specifically to the Communist leader Dolores Ibarruri or "La Pasionaria", who appealed to the French and the British government to sell arms and supplies to the Spanish Republic against Franco and Fascism during the Civil War. This they failed to do and a short time later France was under the occupation of Nazi Germany and London suffering heavy bombings of Luftwaffe, thus the title of the song.

  • @eurostar35 How cynical can you be. Why don't you tell also that Franco rescued Spain and the Spaniards from the killing hands of the soviets and Spanish communists who were killing everyone, stealing their land, property, killing the priests, killing everyone against the communist dictatorship in Spain?? You guys stink. It was fascism against fascism and not the lies you tell of fascism against democracy. That is why Franco was supported and won the war.

  • @dmalice9 The communists from the USS didnt get a look in in Spain until the generals revolted against teh legally elected Spanish government. The Govt, appealed to USA France and Spain for arms but was ignored. The USSR was only to pleased to step in and provide weapons and ideology. if you look at the make up of the Rep Govt you will see they were all moderates later to be usurped by Commies. Franco drove Spain , particularly women back several centurys into ignorance and catholic imperialism

  • @eurostar35 The title of the song are the words used on a propaganda poster at that time, which depicted a dead child killed by nationalist bombs with planes above and the words 'If you tolerate this your children will be next'..

Many Welsh joined the republican movement to fight against the fascist leader Franco during the civil war. The title are words from the poster.

  • you know I can do same quality solos on acoustic, but I'm not 38 :D

  • good whats with all the french and spanish or whateva there speaking

  • i'm fairly sure its spanish (or maybe catalan, i dont know, but its from spain) and theyre speaking it probably because this song is about the spanish civil war.

  • gran acústico. Es una de mis canciones favoritas de toda mi vida. GRaciaspor haber subido el video a You tube.

  • beautful.

  • if i can shoot rabbits, then i can shoot fascists

    jejejeje

    siempre manic

  • muy bueno, cinco estrellas
