  • wow 4:43 equals unbelieveable. thats so random:P

  • 12:30 ..."No use fighting any longer!'

  • Hey HcBailly, have you mentioned the JP glitch yet? Some players (like myself) may prefer this because it saves a lot of time from grinding.

  • If its the roof top I think your talking about then yeah that one sucks,I don't think I've ever killed all the units in that battle, and the battle after them ^_^

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with their random number generator. In probability each event is calculated separately. The odds are always 50%, having more events doesn't change your chances. For instance if you miss, the chances of missing again are still 50%, they don't increase or decrease.

  • WHOOOOOOA SO TIRED NOW! (of these dam 5 hour energy commericials)

  • I like how Delita was the one to strike the killing blow on Miluda, i.e. whats-his-face's sister. Then later on.... well, that's just karma, isn't it...

  • do you still get JP even if the ability fails??

  • Rooftop... ? Pleaseyou're HCBAILLY, it's not that some K.O 100& chance of hitting atack MAY scare you. OR a guy who seems to have unlimited number of weapons with him.

  • 15:01...You can play as the summoner? DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!

  • HCBailly, you seems to be doing a lot of debuffing then buffing your party and going to town on them. Is it a personal style or is that the way for you to finish these battles in 15mins?

  • Larg wouldn't be a prince, since he's the queen's brother...honestly, he'd probably be considered a Duke, I guess...I don't remember what title the PSP version gives him...

  • Yeah, I've only been using four characters per battle. It's a bit rare that you get to use more than that :P

Thanks very much for doing this game; I don't normally follow a guide this detailed when playing through something for the very first time but this is really fun.

  • Ive noticed it too where I have high % and i miss but low makes it. Maybe, like the rest of the dialog, it's a typo too :P

  • 5:14 You wanna know what's wrong? You're recording.

  • Interesting that you mentioned that Silence is a permanent debuff. I think Blind is too, isn't it? I believe those are both permanent in FF12, as well. I bet that was intentional, seeing as they both take place in Ivalice.

  • What's the bgm for this mission?

  • oh hey, I know that roof fight. I quit playing the game there. After that hell of a fight before hand I just refused to fight them anymore.

  • Don't Move (aka Immobilize) is nice, but I usually like Disable (Don't Act) better.

FF12 does that shop upgrading thing too, rarely in the middle of your travels when you reach certain zones.

  • HCBaily you should really try the War of the Lions version. I'm currently doing a play through on the War of The Lions version on iPhone. I must say, the dialogue is a hell of a lot better on that version. I'm actually getting a better understanding of Delita's character since the dialogue is more fleshed out.

  • The rooftop couldn't be THAT bad. It's not like a mage will run up to an assassin and poke them with a stick.

  • maybe the "hit %" are not really "hit" % but rather "miss %"..hmmm...that would explain why 80% misses and 50% hits

  • @HCBailly You wouldn't happen to be using the OP Monk class, would you? I'm kind of excite about it.

  • Pretty sure your shopping list for Gariland shouldn't contain 2 Chain Vest should it? Only the Archer can equip one.

  • @RockcrabOnShiva I'm going to be changing my job classes around NEXT TIME!

  • HCBailly, I have an idea for the next time Delita uses Defend, just say what you said in FFXIII. "STEELGUARD!"

  • Oh HCBailly, I know the roof battle you're talking about, but that one isn't so much an annoyance as the 1v1 assasination battle before it... the many years of my life it took for me to beat it everytime I played through the game.... *sigh* (well cumulatively it'd probably add up to a year, but STILL!)

  • If you're having so much "wtf" moments with the RNG in this game, PLAY FIRE EMBLEM. You'll rage.

  • How fitting Delita killed Miluda. xD Although he pulled a complete "Zero" as soon as he did so.

    What am I fighting fooooooooor!?

  • Your luck seems to go up the less likely you are to succeed. You should buy lottery tickets.

  • I don't know anyone who does RPG LP's better than HCBailly. Seriously this guy puts so much work into it. Just letting you know I appreciate it :) keep on rockin' Bailly!

Oh and feel free to check out my Metroid Fusion LP :)

  • @Kobalt128 You're doing quite well on Metroid Fusion. Nice quality. I read your channel description. Since you plan on doing CoD or Battlefield, I recommend the Hauppauge HD PVR. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. I just recorded my recently completed Sonic Colors LP with it. I plan on doing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Uncharted 3 when they come out. In the mean time, I'm brewing up a Tales of Symphonia LP that I plan on giving the "HCBailly treatment" if you know what I mean.

  • @Kobalt128

Hiding an advertisement for your own LP under compliments to HCBailly? Clever, but still uncool.

  • @TalarisShuran It's actually *very* cool

  • This game is such an amazing masterpiece.

  • Uhh... sad tim-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY HAPPY MUSIC! xD

  • (9:06) Before you lost your train of thought about long bows there, were you about to mention that they have 0% weapon evade?

  • Comment removed

  • Man... this game is some serious shit.

    Poor Delita.

  • HCBailly i got a question bout faith and bravery! is it true that if your bravery goes down..your units will run away from the battle? and if faith gets too high..they run away and join the church ( or something ) iv been wondering if this is true! and i figured i would ask the best! good luck on trying to hit the enemy units =D

  • @snowmanland24 Its true, if their faith gets to 95 then they might leave, and if their bravery is less than 5 then they run until their bravery is above 10

  • @snowmanland24 He mentioned in the first episode that if your faith is too high or brave is too low, units leave your party.

  • @whattheblox oh ok i guess i missed it! thanks

  • Oh man, get used to people not believing Ramza. God knows what he did prior to FF:T to have no-one ever believe him

  • i thought it was kinda cool to see a Zack in this video, with it being my name and all. but too bad HC killed me.

  • One thing about the new S/T/RPGS i been hating is that SP/MP starts at 0 and regenerate often lower then needed for the 1st spell , when did that become a unwritten rule for the S/rpgs anyway..

  • pretty much every story battle after chapter 1 has the capacity for 5 generic characters, so i'm confused by your use of only 4

  • the calculators are so op

  • Your speech at 4:58

WELCOME to Final Fantasy Tactics. The place where probability is completely THROWN out the window!!!

  • can you do a fable walkthrough for the xbox

  • Do you use a emulator when you are recording the videos? As always you are doing a great job ^^

  • sundays are normally a really crap day for my vid inbox. no new updates on almost anything i watch. but then HCBaily comes through with Tactics, my faorite game of all time. Thanks for making my next to last sunday before surgery awsome!

  • I"ve only been using 3 units. Not really that bad. This particular mission, I got super lucky by breaking 2 of the enemy knights weapons in a row, Including Miluda. I was a happy camper afterwards.

  • Too bad this version of FFT doesn't have Cloud or Luso

  • @KitsuneRagnell You mean Balthier.

  • @someddrnoob Luso is in the PSP and iOS versions

  • @KitsuneRagnell And I mean Cloud when you said that, not Luso.

    Cloud's in FFT PSX.

  • @KitsuneRagnell

Cloud is in it... Luso isn't though.

  • @KitsuneRagnell both versions have cloud. wotl has luso and balthier in addition.

  • You know, this may be a little late. As I understand you record your videos a day in advance. But for two points, I doubt anyone would begrudge you one fight's worth of grinding to get the skill.

  • Yes 'THE' roof battle.. Good god that thing alone was always my undoing... Ninjas and high speed for the win is all i can say.

  • I just realized I beat this game in 5th grade. I'm a god.

  • I know which rooftop you mean.

    GOD DAMN THAT ONE BATTLE.

  • Miluda has nice hair. Too bad Delita killed her. :(

  • @HCBailly Sorry I posted twice, I paniced :(

  • @HCBailly Especially Botty Duty ;)

  • Good way to tell Zodiac Compatibility is they will always speak the text when they cast on the enemy.

  • This LP has made me want to watch HC play Warcraft or Starcraft... heh.

  • Spells effects can miss even with 98% chance because of zodiac compatibility, if its in your favor even with a 20% chance it can still hit 100% of the time. one of the many broken mechanics in the game,

  • @FallenChocobo if they have good compatability, it would never be a 20% chance anyway.

  • @cmauffray1 Yes it can be depending on enemy spell evade, ive had cases where ive had good compatibility, a 80% chance to hit and they still block with a shield or it just misses. There are several components of the base % to hit and the enemies added % that are broken in the game. The best example of this is the end of chapter 3 against a boss, where Ice 4 has a 100% chance to hit and does over 400 damage but he still blocks it. 100% chance to hit doesnt always mean a hit.

  • Once again Mr. Bailly you need more faith in order for your spells to have a better hit % though its not a drastic increase in which the spell % goes up, the abnormal status rate of spell increase is worth it 10 fold. I would get my casters faith to at least 70-75 that way the base % of all your abnormal status have a 60-80% chance of effect regardless of zodiac compatibility.

  • I played Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the DS. Apparently 99% chance to hit someone has a COMMON CASE OF MISSING WITH THAT 1 %!

  • Aw sad time. Yay! Happy Music! lol

Dear HC Bailey, are you playing this from a console or a handheld?

  • @A2Nesk He said in episode... ... The preview episode, that he's playing from his PS3.

  • @itachi4492 Missed that. Thanks.

  • 8:38

Oh, you mean THAT rooftop. >_>

  • Bailly, one thing I've noticed...You tend to favor the use of the 'Panel' rather than the 'Unit', when you're targeting spells. Any particular reason?

  • @Shadohime I'm paranoid about choosing Unit, only to find them move the spell radius my next to me.

  • @HCBailly That's why you make sure they move AFTER you cast the spell, silly boy! :P

  • HCBailly, will you be doing FFTA as well?

  • @bedroomshred6661 ffta.... ewww. lol that tactics spin off is a lie. (I don't mind it, but it doesn't do the FFT series justice even though it is for the gba)

  • Ok, Who is that one disliker?! Show yourself!

  • Oh god.. -that- battle. Fffuuuuu.....

  • One day, I hope there's a marathon :D That will be the day I take off FROM EVERYTHING!

  • That battle >_>, freaking rooftops are the enemy of any FFT player.

  • HCBailly ftw.

  • It pains me to see so many potential crystals still existing as bodies. This is why I never let Delita or Algus live.

  • HCBailly I know you do not take advantage of glitches but you do mention them, are you aware that when someone turns to a crystal and you choose the last ability on the list, you automatically learn all of the abilities above?

  • @Whateveridontcaremeh You know that it doesn't matter where on the list you click, you learn all the abilities on the list regardless. The only random factor comes into play is what abilities are on that list.

  • That is why I always check shops after EVERY story battle.

  • I think we all know THAT rooftop battle. Oh the memories...

  • OW. happy music

  • HCBailly, I've asked this a few times, and I don't want to be annoying with the question, just don't know if you've seen it. You're a completionist, so I'm assuming you'll have bonus episodes for all the... 'special' rocks... even the... 'extra' one, but I was wondering if you'd show the special battles, like the monk one at grog, and the chemist stone gun battle.

Again, don't like spamming, so I'm sorry if I'm annoying, BUT, I've been looking forward to this LP ever since I saw it in the list.

  • @JakobusMaximus Yeah, I'll be doing all those sidequests.

  • @HCBailly you can adjust the camera while a CPU opponent is selecting where to move btw.

  • @JakobusMaximus Don't forget some of the other "extra" battles. 99 chocobos anyone, if you know what I mean?

Also: HC Bailly, why aren't you grabbing abilities from crystalized enemies?

  • @HCBailly I'm not sure how you fight battles without tilting the camera angle up.

  • Setting up all that good compatibility came back to bite you when you accidentally cast on your own characters (by human error, Charm or Confuse). There's also the idea that if an enemy unit has bad (not worst) compatibility with one of your characters, they'll have bad compatibility with a lot of the rest of your party, too.

  • So will you be making Ramza a monk by the end of the next episode? I've already gotten weapon guard on both of my mages, so I already changed him over.

  • Ah, the best battle is pretty bad. Or at least can be. But nowhere near as bad the the battle right before THE rooftop battle (if we're talking about the same thing).

  • HCBailly, did you know that if a guest is unconscious and part of the battle requires them to talk, they will revive with 1 HP? I'm not sure, but I think that works with Ramza too.

  • I hate the RNG too in FFT.

I remember that one time in the Golgorand battle (IIRC) where I had a character die close to Ramza, who was a monk. A few turns later I had 2 turns left to revive the character but the battle was going super well so I could totally afford to just send Ramza over to Revive her.

He missed a 98% Revive *twice in a row*, and the character crystallized, forcing me to retry one of the hardest battles in the game. I think I needed like 4-5 tries that one playthrough. Urgh

  • Yipee! HCBailly's famous laugh!

  • Oh man I know that rooftop level, had to replay that 5 times. Freaking AI.

  • @Vostroyan1 The Rooftop battle is frustrating if you don't exploit the AI. The AI will make the assassins go after the person with the lowest HP total, so just drop someone's armor, put them in the battle and the assassins will be distracted by that. You should be able to take one of them out before Rafa gets into too much danger. (I had to look this one up, actually.)

  • Random Number Goddess helped you today. Thank her or be cursed in next battle.

  • poor miluda :(

  • rmd god smiled on apone you

  • HCBailly's insane laughter is always infectious :D

  • Did you forget what random chance is for a second there?

  • Miluda! Your such a beautiful knight, i always wanted to get her to join me using a certain class but i could not.....Nuts!

  • ive found the rng in the Tactics games is...a bit drunk.

  • @Near54321 it is almost the same as the PS version. Its just more simple than this one

  • Oh THE Rooftop... Ugh.

  • loving the lp so far allot more than I think I would.

  • 16 on enemy... 61 ON YOU?!

  • @TheRPGLPer

It's because his own Wizard has high Zodiac Compatibility with Ramza, AND because Ramza has a high faith stat.

  • The Random Number Generator gods can be very fickle, had a ton of trouble with them when I play Civilization.

  • Maybe you're talking about the payroll because of how l i t t l e money is in this game.

  • This is why I like HCBailly. He works on the weekends. lol

  • @JoltsD HCBailly is always on duty. :)

  • @HCBailly Now I'm imagining you crumpling an exploding note and tossing it at some unsuspecting police chief.

  • @HCBailly Except when HCSanta gives you the day off. :P

  • @HCBailly Especially Botty Duty ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @HCBailly youtube won't let me thumb up this comment so i had to write a thumb up comment. Thumbs Up!

  • @HCBailly booty duty?

  • @HCBailly And unlike Gadget, you're competant.

  • The battles before the rooftop were even worse for me, especially if your only save is there.

  • Arg... THE rooftop battle. I bloody hate it soooooo damn much.

  • Once I did 7 atacks with 60% chance of hitting, only 2 of them hitted.

Then I learned that somehow 40% is more likely to happen than 60%

  • Hc plz don't do a playthrough of final fantasy tactics advance ever in your time as a let's player... it was the biggest let down in my life

  • You probably don't need to keep Ramza as a Knight. If Delita does ANYTHING, he'll gain enough JP to get Weapon Guard.

Besides, knowing the next battle, you're gonna need the Monk's help.

  • HCBailly, you played WoW, didn't you? The RNG is a cruel mistress...

  • HC, maybe you could do a random battle somewhere to get those last two points in? Seeing as you've already used saves and loads to skip random battles in the plains, I guess you could also just offscreen one to get those last few points.

  • This game reminds me of Disgaea just without all the nutjob antics and crazyness. but at one point your allowed to use 5 units in Disgaea your allowed up to 10 units on board. I only ever used 5 units

  • Hc bailey I was wondering if your going to make an lp for final fantasy tactics advanced

  • When I first played this game i thought that if waited a little while Miluda would join my party........I was wrong

  • @Ekenator70 you did the same thing too?

  • It brought back funny memories when HCB said "RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!!!"

  • @HCBailly When a mage is silenced and they attack with their Fire/Ice/Thunder Rod, will the silence cancel out the chance of the rod casting the elemental spell?

  • HCBailly since you are only two JP off from learning the skill wouldn't it be worth it to do one random battle to get the JP needed to get the skill.

  • Welcome back to Let's Play Final Fantasy Talking!

In this episode, we're going to negotiate peace with Meluda, then we're going to level up Taku as a diplomat

  • HCBailly, Does JP spill over from guests? If so, you could just use Deleta's knight jp. Ramza is about to level and I believe monks have better stat growth.

  • i stoned a ninja with 10% chance befor

  • Finally, a spell that works all but once!

  • Yay, HC having fn with the RNG. Don't you know the number depicts your miss chance? ;)

Nah but well... you got lucky today which is more than I can say for myself.

  • Aww.. it's no fun when things actually WORK for a change. But then again HCBailly getting excited when his debuffs hit is equally entertaining.

  • Your evil laugh is awesome.

  • I rather like Ninja for that rooftop battle. I don't even bother with the accessories, because you're already so insanely strong by that point.

I'm trembling with anticipation for the next battle.

  • Can you put into description how should I equip my chars for the next battle?

  • @s6laju00 I'm going to be making some major preparations in the next episode. I'll list my setup there.

  • @s6laju00 haha you said duty

  • I find Rooftop battle easy due to the power my characters get that late. I always go for stealing the assassins accessories since they are so good.

  • @jasonwang67 I'm not a fan of over-leveling any more. Have you ever tried a straight character challenge or beating the game solo (just using Ramza)? Also, it might be easier in the PSP version, but I don't know.

  • I sometimes heal the boss to keep them around a bit longer in the scenarios where the guest may kill them before the other enemies turn into crystals/chests.

  • The rooftop battle isn't that bad, all you need is to bring one of the foes down to critical, and you're good. The only real problems arise is if your units have lower speed than your opponents. The only other thing that would make it ridiculously hard is if you try to steal the assassins "accessories."

  • Mr. Baily of the HC will you be recruiting more soldiers, rely on story characters, or just use this party for rest of game?

  • Frickin' HATE the rooftop battles! >:I

  • Kind of a bastard move on their part, but on the other hand, I'm someone who likes to prepare for large boss battles. And knowing from earlier that the items update over time, I would've checked the two cities for new gear. I've learned my lesson LONG ago for rushing into large boss battles!

(Oh this'll be easy! *dies* WHY CAN'T I BEAT HIM! *continues pointless attacks because wasn't prepared*)

  • You meen the castle rooftop?... ;) when I played this years ago it took me around 8 months to actually be able to finish it. Got stuck on a "battle" not the rooftop. And had to restart cause it was impossible to exit and my party was not prepared

  • There's a few battles on rooftops, but I still know the one. Still pisses me off.

  • So she literally said that she's blaming you for a thing you didn't do and know nothing about. Logic!

  • @LuigiFan210

But which his entire family and caste of people is complicit in.

    Hardly surprising.

  • @JohnRayJr Yeah but she actually said she knew he had absolutely no idea about it.

  • @LuigiFan210

She also said that his ignorance is itself a crime. I'm inclined to agree with her. Given where the story is headed, so is Ramza. :)

  • @JohnRayJr Okay, does make sense. And I guess I should just watch the LP since this will probably make more sense later.
