  • Thank you for your post. That is a very creative way to create a compost bin. While inexpensive, the materials you used (because untreated) will also begin to decompose over a short period of time. Concrete is a natural green product made with sand, gravel and Portland cement. It does not pollute the environment. Treated timbers may be the worst. Check out allan block.com for more information on green opportunities with concrete.

  • I designed and made my compost bin from six untreated pallets/skids and minimum metal fixings. It has a waterproof lid and the total cost was 50 cents! I would be worried about making a compost bin from concrete - it is one the most polluting building materials on the planet..

  • total wrong way to build compost bin. No waterproof cover and no air into sides. Crap !

  • For the cost I bet I could buy five years worth of compost.

  • a lot of work for compost a wooden crate would work just as good at a fraction of the price

  • Way too much work for a compost bin.

  • Have you tried either of the two different types of biodegradable bags in your compost?
