  • WHy would he want to polute their cilture with fairytales about invisible sky friends ???

    He sounds like an idiot

  • Now he's a missionary for Satan.

Jesus is the answer. He is the ONLY way to the Father in Heaven. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent, obey and be saved!

  • @edadan2009 Hahahaha...."Missionary for Satan" Really? What a shallow, absent minded sheep you are. This is such an automatic response from someone that cannot think with their own mind.....

  • Missionaries are those people who changed so many lifes, around the world they helped so many people, they have given education and healthcare and others to people,im sure as an atheist he wont go and help them, there is no motivation, the motivation is christianity, christainity did good to somany people around the world, people like these won't HELP and let others help, if people are heading towards good life because of christainity then no problem at all

  • @prabhubpk You are very ignorant.

    Educate yourself...

  • @Zentz29 know the history properly, you can find lots of schools, colleges and hospitals started by missionaries, not by any atheist, if you think piraha's life is civilized,it just your innorence,as he was yelling missionaries never destroyed any culture,or never encouraged violence,so many people seen world because of them,so man,it is just spreading hate against Christianity,it is just human nature to"critisise good if we can't do",he dnt know that he was spreading hate towards his own country

  • @prabhubpk Idiot...

  • @Zentz29 this shows cowardness and how cheap thinking, you should have real guts to explain what is wrong, eduacte your self, just believing him without any knowledge, hating purposefully without reason, please just try to think, you will come to know, please dont blame whole christianity for some ones mistake, just think who is doing more good to humanity

  • trying to convert innocents to religion...ugh,. Disgusting...glad it didnt work out.

  • bloody hell, this is disgusting, spreading the disease of religion to these poor people.

  • haahah best part at 9:53 xD so damn funny

  • Is there anywhere where I could get the whole, uncut, video (from the start)?

  • Why did this man feel compelled to manipulate a peaceful people away from their traditional beliefs? They know what they feel, and he nor any missionary has any right or moral business to try to convert them to his way.

  • @FollowerOfTheGods "Why did this man feel compelled to manipulate a peaceful people away from their traditional beliefs?"

Yes well, that's what he started to ask himself (as you would know, if you watch the rest of this speech) ...and he eventually became an atheist.

  • @ZarlanTheGreen I watched the whole thing. i meant why did he feel the need at the beginning.

  • @FollowerOfTheGods He thought he was doing good and giving them something they needed. The fact that they didn't seem to need it, deeply shocked him.

"You only buy shit, if you feel shit. It's a basic sales pitch. The christian church have been using it for years" -Adam Hills, about women's magazines (watch?v=0-o3go0Fl-w)

Like he said, "you need to get them lost, before you can get them saved".

You could say religion tries to convince you, your sick, and then offers the cure. Many have.

  • @FollowerOfTheGods ...and of course, as Steven Weinberg once said:

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

  • @ZarlanTheGreen I see. Interesting quotes too. Never really thought of it that way.

  • This is proof that religion is inflicted, not come to with a rational understanding of science and reality.

  • Is it that they just don't have a creation or God story, or they just don't like thinking beyond themselves nor bother to ponder of things across time. It is an interesting situation not just for religion but, things learned from ancient times, remembrance of stories about their great great grandfathers, or past and future floodings,... It reminds me of the irresponsible attitude some have in our society, like drunks or a teen that hates to study or dna limited brain? Or Adam in Eden pre Snake?

  • But, for what he wants convert them. They live good without religion, they don't need it.

  • @WALOKEINELUSTful They do need religion! I can only hope that some day a missionary group will go their and force them to convert as time is running out! Those poor ignorant, uneducated people need a cleansing of the heart they just don't understand this! Sometimes a father needs to punish his child as the child doesn't understand what he did wrong! So it is with these spear chuckers!

  • @99minerkc Religion doesn't educate. I am a atheist and I have a normal live.

  • @WALOKEINELUSTful Of course it educates! As a Christian(with a capital C)you learn all about your heavenly Father! learning under the supervision is educating oneself! I invite you too for an education, a religious education! d is purchase a bible at a fine Christian book store near you and start attending Sunday school and then the Minister's sermon which follows!

  • @WALOKEINELUSTful What's normal to an atheist is willful sin to god and religious! Surly you were once a religious person yourself, right? If so, it's time to come home my child, the end is at hand!

  • @99minerkc You must be kidding, right?

  • @WingDiamond kidding? Why would I be kidding? What do you find funny about this?

  • @99minerkc

    "Nowadays the air's polluted

    Ancient people persecuted

    THAT'S what mankind contributed ...

To create a better time (?)"

There is NOTHING cute or funny about that!

  • @99minerkc What is your point? The world is more polluted today than any time in our past, HOWEVER, the population is higher today than any time in the past! The same goes for crime, etc. If you have more people you'll have more crime, % wise though it likely has not gone up much! So again, I ask you, what is your point?

  • @99minerkc So I find you quite satirical, I am assuming you speak the way you do with such zest and contempt for atheists or those that geographically speaking have been condemned to hell for thousands of years because god decided to reveal himself at a point in time when these people were completely inaccessible to those whom he chose to reveal himself. I mean if god wanted to save people from hell he would have made it so everyone would know. So your comments are quite humorous. =D

  • @CtheWolfe I'm glad I was able to humor you! :-)

  • @99minerkc I assume humor was your premise with your comments hear no?

  • @CtheWolfe "hear no?"

  • @CtheWolfe OH! You mean "hear, no? A comma is so important in sentence structure! Anyway, the answer is YES! :-)

peace and happy holidays to you.

  • @99minerkc Lol yeah I was trying to listen and type at the same time. Same to you!

  • Comment removed

  • @Noworkbum Good thing you removed your comment! The wrath od God is near!

  • Interesting... In a since I was raised like the Pirahã... Meaning that I was never taught to believe in things that had no empirical evidence for their existence; like magic, gods, fairies, leprechauns, or unicorns. I was wondering: why was Dan Everett trying to get the Pirahã to believe in that particular fictional god character out of the 4600+ other fictional gods?

  • Well, his reference is christianity, but missionary work is disgusting and culturaly destructive.

But now he is telling us about these people and I want to hear it all. Can you tell me if he is wrong on some points?

  • @fisterB I remember, about 20 years ago, watching a documentary about an unknown S.A. tribe. The tribe had recently overtaken a neighboring tribe and had kept a little boy of about six or seven, the only survivor. As a last insult to the vanquished tribe, one of the men held the sobbing child high by one arm, cursed him and kicked him till he retreated into the jungle. The missionaries said they could hear him crying in the jungle for about a week after . Christianity is better.

  • @Other299 weak logic, correlation between Christianity and hurting kids is statistically much greater thanks to the number of pedophiles gathered by the Church...

  • @Other299 Yeah...that's one of the churches greatest commandments...pedify your kids. Jesus was all for it.

  • @Other299 To take just a few quotes:

Numbers 31:17-18 "Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."

Hosea 13:16 "Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up."

    Yeah...

    So much better.

  • @ZarlanTheGreen so, your position is that you think the missionaries were teaching the tribe to kill all women and children who have been known to have sex and keep the virgins for themselves?" to dash their infants to pieces and rip their women and children up? and if not, how does this argument even apply?

  • @Other299 "so, your position is that you think the missionaries were teaching the tribe to kill all women and children who have been known to have sex and keep the virgins for themselves?""

No, just that christianity is okay with doing such things in war. It's in the bible, sanctioned by god.

It reveals a rather immoral attitude.

    "dash their infants to pieces"

    Or your own, whilst smiling.

"and if not, how does this argument even apply?"

It's christianity and it isn't better.

  • @ZarlanTheGreen Numbers31:16 reveals that this group had brought with them some sort of plague, probably a venereal disease and Hosea 13:16 is obviously a prophecy describing what happens when you rebel against God. Rebelling against God almost always meant that they were guilty of egregious crimes against humanity. The ten commandments were not set up for God's glory. They were set up to protect you. In other words...If you want to piss God off, do something to hurt you.

  • @fisterB

Get his book "Don't Sleep, There Are Snakes!", There he tells the story.

  • This is actually quite far off the mark. Piraha believe in dreams and spirits, they see spirits all over and all the time. some spirits tell them not important stuff(like weather the day after etc) and others that try to make evil things happen.

However, they dont put any stock in stories that have no living witnesses. The "principle is immediacy of experience" as Dan calls it in his book. i suggest you read it. its a good read.

  • Thanks for the information, as I did not know that he wrote a book.
