Both bikes are very fast . In stock form , a zx12r will eat the first generation Busa all day , thats a fact ! Butt !! For some reason , if you put the same engine work in a Busa that you put in a zx12r ( head work, cams,airbox) , the Busa will out-power the zx12r . Engine builders say it's something to do with the coating on cylinder walls of the zx12r , it cost more money to upgrade a zx12r than it is to upgrade the Busa . Thats fact !! I prefer the zx12r anyway tho ...
For years I have been told the Hayabusa is the fastest bike but after looking around I find the ZX-12r is not even 1200 cc's and in 1999 without the speed limiter on both bikes flat put ran the Hayabusa on top end even though the engine on the Hayabusa is larger as proven on Mach 3.
im on about stock bikes, back then the ZX12 and the Busa first came out. now the k9 busa is just stupidly fast, i cant even imagine how quick that thing accelerates.
busa rider should know that lights takes like 0.1 HP if hes riding on 1/4 , zx`s rider knew that well :) ( only front light is at rules if its at night)

I like both bikes
i think 2008 busa is faster(km/h or mp/h)
but zx12 accelerates faster
