  • Great video. He was a 100% natural entertainer. He loved doing what he was doing. A one of a kind that we miss terribly. Rest in Peace, John.

  • this is the first song i remember my mother singing to me as a child. i think i was about two or three. always makes me smile

  • I'm feeling melancholy this morning as a family member of my wife is about to pass away - for me it's the beginning of the end of her generation - John Denver was an angel of a songwriter - his songs so touched my soul & his appearances on television during the 1970's brought grace & comfort to my & my little family at the time - the video with this song spans clips of his glorious life - yes he had struggles - who does not - but his voice and songwriting are truly Sunshine on My Shoulders -

  • this song has so much meaning to my family and i <3

  • Beautiful song...God blesses you John Denver...

  • Thank you, a special song to me

  • What a wonderful tribute to him... good job Mistikay... brought tears to my eyes. Saw him in concert once and got a pine tree as a part of his show and planted it in my backyard back when I was in California. Left Cali a long time ago, but I hope it's a very tall tree by now. Miss ya John!

  • John Denvers voice makes me cry ;-)

  • WHO COULD POSSIBLY DISLIKE THIS SONG/VIDEO? must have a cold heart.

  • I Love John Denver... he was a beautiful Spirit with a deep beautiful soul that he shared within his music. I loved this video with exception of the staticky noise... I loved watching it. Thank you for posting it on youtube <3

  • God is smiling on John today!

  • why is it every time i heard JD songs my eyes are swelling, i just cant help it. He hits my heart with awe and emotional inspiration of love to mankind and nature. He is my number since in the 70s until now 2011!! No wonder I became also an environmentalist. I already planted lots of trees and cared the environment since 1990 until today. You left us JD and the world today is unnaturally in trouble. RIP.

  • Wonderful. john denver is great to see. Thanks for this video.

I love the songs of John Denver

  • It was no accident, NO suicide either. He was a flying "nut" and got hold of this new design prop. HE WAS NOT aware that this plane had NOT been certified by the FAA, and that only a couple others existed. Millions were paid to his estate for "wrongful death".The BIG flaw was the fuel shut off that was BEHIND the seat. When the plane stalled, the shut off had to be reset. He had to unbuckle, reach around,find/reset the toggle, and reseat to gain control. At low altitude...IMPOSSIBILE. BASICALLY MURDER

  • Thanks for this video! It was exactly what I was looking for to make me smile. Amen.

  • God,every pluck of the guitar is like sun rays hitting my back with warmth and happiness. And when I close my eyes it's like summer all over again...

  • John Denver had the rare ability to come right through the camera and reach into your heart. It's as if that little square frame of the tv disappeared and he was in the room singing just to you.No wonder the guy had a few stalkers amongst his fans-you felt you knew him.He was a wonderful singer, but his greatest gift was as a communicator.I saw him in concert many times, and he was truly outstanding. He would hold an audience with just his voice and a guitar. He is much missed.

  • Beautiful video - for a beautiful song... Thank you.!!

  • Fell in love with this song in 1974 traveling Colorado from Texas.

Of all the things in my life I wanted to do, is meet John Denver and sit and play guitars with him He passed away on my daughters birthday Oct 12 1997.

  • John Denver was a great singer, song writer, human being and he touched us all with his beautiful music. What a wonderful video tribute you did for a wonderful man! I very much enjoyed it because I always enjoyed the music of John Denver. He is deeply missed!

  • This is a very special song!! I didn't remember that John Denver had passed away... When did he die? I like his songs very much!!!!

  • @gjosesousa65 October 12,1997.He was 53.(born Dec 31,1943.)Died piloting a light plane.Way too young.

  • I LOVE HOW PURE , HOLY AND BLESSED JOHN DENVER ALWAYS WAS WITH A FANTASTIC SENSE OF HUMOR TOO!

  • My favorite John Denver song is 'Rocky Mountain High' or 'Dreamland Express'. But this is so, so wonderfully pure, warm and genuine. John Denver was so 'real'. On another note, check out the Simpsons epi, 'Bart of Darkness'. Springfield is under a heat wave. A hippie is singing 'Sunshine...' on the sidewalk and a very hot, mad citizen punches him out. *lol*

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO! MY all-tme favorite singer/song-writer.Thanks for posting

  • Thanks for a great video. Loved it, very special. I'd heard John on the radio for months before I saw his first North American TV show, but as soon as he sang 'Sunshine On My Shoulders' it was love. A lady on PBS used this song to teach American Sign Language: I saw it, taught my nephews and they still remember those signs. Cool, eh?

  • This is great! I love all the clips of John Denver enjoying life and sharing his love with everyone, even the muppets. He is missed!

  • i wanna go outside and play

  • @graa7470 This may be the response that would most have pleased John.

    Mistikay, thanks for posting!

  • The one song that testifies to Johns feelings towards is fellow humans is without a dought « This Old Guitar ». Anytime I hear is singning Im cradled in uplifting warm feelings.

If god does exist and grants me the wish

Of resurrecting a great person I miss

Be sure Id insist that John Denver is first on the list.

  • @TiRoly There's a clip of John singing This Old Guitar in all of his 1977 youth & sweetness on the 'John Denver Remembered' DVD.Over it is a narration of Annie saying they miss him but know they'll see him again one day. After I find my mum in heaven,JD & Jim Henson are next.:-)

  • Im french canadian and at an early age I discovered this guys enchanting singning, the powerfull truth and beauty in each of is songs. Three songs have a major philosophycal impact on me; « Annies Song » for defining love, « Sunshine On My Shoulders » for defining beauty, and « Rhyms And Reasons » for defining hope.

  • Brilliant!

  • The video was very fitting to the song. Both were, one word to describe .....Beautiful.

  • @JoeD60

    Thank you

  • I used to play and sing this song for my kids before they went to sleep. They used to ask for the "Sunshine" song. So it was particularly touching when, when my Mom passed away last November, my younger son picked up my old 12 string and asked me to sing "the Sunshine song" for her so she was have a song to rest to.....thank you, John, for writing this.

  • my dad loved john denver, and when he passed away this year we played this song at his funeral .....a beautiful song for a great dad..

  • @007congo i'm so sorry man

  • @007congo That is beautiful. Everytime you have sunshine just think that your dad is hugging your shoulders.

  • Beautiful song by John Denver ! I think John made a terrible mistake by not making sure his ultra-lite plane was fueled up before flight ! We all make them, sometimes they are deadly ! Just my opinion BTW, we are human !

You won't be forgotten John, RIP !

  • very special human though he is..

  • Very Nice video good man... Julie Andrews the muppest etc... Can't beat that.... Classic video....

  • when i hear john denver's songs i feel i can hear my own soul before loss of innocence

  • This is the perfect video for Sunshine! I just looked at a bunch and fell in love with this one. Thanks for putting this wonderful tribute to John together.

  • Stunningly beatuiful song

  • Wonderful video !!!

  • Thank you for commenting I am delighted that this one is being enjoyed.

  • i tried to upload one like this, but i was blocked, reason is that the song is copyrighted... michelle can u teach me how to upload....

  • Has anyone concluded that his death was a traggic accident, or was it on purpose as some critics suggest ?

I know he must be singing in heaven, I can almost hear him from here.

    Listen close.

  • His accident was indeed an accident. I know of a video here on YT that you might be interested in. I will be happy to send it to you.

Thank you for commenting on my videos.

    God Bless

    Michelle

  • @Bethcat61 It was indeed an accident. You can google the crash report.

He was only going to fly for 1/2hour & was going to 'buzz' his buddy Clint Eastwood. You don't plan a bit of fun like that b4 suicide. He had dinner plans,& was excited about his new record contract.Plus he had an 8 yr old daughter he adored.

The fuel tanks were in an odd place.Tests showed that as every pilot twisted in his seat to change them they stepped on the rudder into a dive. They think this is what happened to JD.

  • Gosh I miss him. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

    HUGS

  • My pleasure, and thanks for your comment
