sure, vegan > vegetarian, but most people have a lot of trouble with the vegan lifestyle. It's all about baby steps. Let them cut out beef/pork etc., then poultry, then fish, then eggs and then dairy. If you ask them to give up too much all at once it will usually turn them off to the whole concept
