Even if you don't, I never trusted the directions on how to feed your animals on food bags. I just wait and see the results. My dog does the same thing after a bath:)

I am a breeder of GSD and I know the importance of keeping your dog healthy. Or any dog for that matter. The owner loves her dog to death, but don't show it with food.
The dog's weight is no one else's business. That's between the owner and the dog's vet. You can't possibly know the dog's background and why it may be overweight. The thumbs-down are well-deserved. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.
German Shepherds are also prone to leg problems, you're assuming that the dog has problems walking because of it's weight, however its weight may be down to walking problems. It's hard to exercise a dog that has problems with it's legs as you would know being as you're a breeder.
Which would be an ever bigger reason to keep the weight down. And this breed doesn't have problems with their legs, they have problems with their hips and elbows. Something I indeed know a lot about. I see, just as many other, a cute old lady, but as a breeder I also see beyond that. You all can keep on sending me messages and comments, but it wont change my point of view. Thank you.
Could be a thyroid problem? Dunno about G Shepherds, but I had a lab that had a thyroid problem and it was really hard to maintain her weight, especially when she was older.

My dog does this, too. He also loves to do it when the grass has just been cut. I think he just prefers smelling like nature rather than shampoo.
