I thought Mr. JC had some sort of medical reason for his movements, but a little research has turned nothing up. As for AS, a diagnosis is definitely useful, in my humble opinion. Thanks so much for your feedback!

Thank you. I really like this song and have recently been looking into Asperger's.  By what I've been reading Joe Cocker would seem to attract the diagnosis in some people's terms as might I but I am wondering whether the diagnosis is really so useful and whether simply more tolerance of variation and difference in humanity would transcend this need anyway!
