How to play Perfect Dark for N64 on the computer

I'm not a noob at this stuff at all, but I was just wondering if anyone had problems with the emu not reading the gameshark plugin. For whatever reason I can't play a game because the emu won't read this tiny little plugin. The plugin is in the actual plugin folder but for whatever the emu won't read it. I don't understand why it won't let me run a rom because of a cheat plugin, I haven't had any problems like this with project64. If anyone knows how to fix this, it would help me a lot.

Perfect Dark just erased its own save file when i wanted to play it today. I tried to open it like normal and my file, which worked before, was gone. Help?

What do you mean? It depends on your computer's hardware too.
