  • I completely agree. Strauss is to enjoy. That is if you understand the music. My uncle was saying "I spent 5 hours listening to Mahler, then it clicked."

  • I don't think it really matters who brought you here. The point is that you're here, enjoying Strauss with the rest of us!

  • I have a less than a month to learn the entire opera.

    OH My Gosh.

  • Haha, I'm 16 years old. I loooove rock and hardstyle, dubstep whatever.. I know that a lot of people who are my age don't like this music.. but i do!

  • @juliaengbersen1995

id love to see what you consider "rock"

  • Arby 'n' the Chief!

    :D

  • @Volcanoclaw It brought me here too but im looking for the one where Arby is fighting Kylie

  • I can't believe people would actually dislike this amazing piece of work composed by a true genius. It takes a music prodigy to compose such an amazing flawless piece. If you don't like this you don't know music at all.

  • how can you dislike this ? some of you got no taste !!! this song is cleaning my mind

  • @lolmanlolify You know the Pornography business makes big fat lies about dick sizes, right? The fact that ALL black man have big dicks is a racial stereotype, actually. Same goes for whites, latinos, and asians.

  • @darthbinks99 ffff

  • yes! I see oyur point. so, Borat was a......."Genius"?

  • Look rock music fans... classical is just way more complex... That's why it's such a boss. I'm sorry if you can't admit that rock music is repetitive... suck it up and admit it already.

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify shut up.

  • @Linkage1992 ahh... i knew u couldn't admit it at all...

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify Tell that to Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and Roger Waters. I'm sorry, but no lyrics can trump Floyd. They own. Oh, and Frank Zappa. Rock has a different goal. Every genre has a different purpose and effect on peoples minds.

everything sounds repetitive if you don't know what to listen to. Classical is no exception. 'Classical is just way more complex' Yes. In some ways. If choosing by complexity, one would listen to jazz. Listening to that non stop would result in an aneurism.

  • @B0WtiE Jazz is a bit more complex but understanding classical music is harder. Don't you agree? Listen to Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals. And i do admit classical does repeat but not as much as modern music. It's the same tune over and over again... except in the beginning maybe.

  • how can you dislike this ?

  • Breath deep and...AAAHHH...

  • Thumbs up if you think that bragging about hearing this classical masterpiece from Tom & Jerry is shameful...

  • What does fledermaus mean? I know that 'Die' is the probervb for plural, but i dont understand the word's meaning =(

  • @MrMastera Die is not only not plural, it's also used for female words. And Die Fledermaus is bat in English. :)

  • @MrMastera Flying mouse I call em winged rats

  • Reminds me of Tom & Jerry :)

  • which orchetra pleyed this version? Anybody know?

  • perfecto

  • No, you didn't got it, it's a song about Batman.

  • hm... I guess Strauss must've went into a cave to see bats then write this music.

  • Its nice to listen to classical music once in a while..Like if your mad. X3

  • Man I see the pop up ads, and these bastards know exactly what web sites I go to.

'Penny stock alerts" (I don't play them) they even run ads for my disc broker. Sneaky buggers!!!

  • má nejoblíbenější od Strausse

  • "This looks like a job for...

    Die Fledermaus!"

  • @Everyman1337 LOL! I did a search for this because of The Tick. I ain't gonna lie.

Beautiful composition, I must say. :-)

  • @gladeplugins For catching that reference, you have won the internet and you're children shall live for hundreds of years. Make sure you expose them to Strauss early on!

  • @Everyman1337 you know die fledermaus means the bat right?

  • @HuginnG As in the flying mammal?

  • @tvwatcher1220 jup, think so

  • i ve got my brain washed coz i m hearing the song again and again and again...

  • Absolutely beautiful, I have always loved this sort of music ever since I was in the fourth grade some 22 years ago and still is today. Long live classical music and may it remain forever timeless, especially for such masterpieces.

  • Im the 1000 who press Thumbs up!

    YAY

  • I remember this music in Saints Row. Just... GAH... Ultimate!

  • AH, this song has no words that could match up to it.

  • "The Bat" by the austrian ostrich

  • I can see every scene in Tom and Jerry made to this music. The old cartoons cannot be beat. I grew up on T&J, the Looney Toons, and other iconic cartoons that have lasted for decades, whereas newer cartoons might last a season or two, and not show up for years. More kids today need to see what their parents had for entertainment as children themselves.

  • only the idiots can see the dislike button.

  • I wish I had a tash like that

  • who are the ignoramuses who do not like this??? what's not to like

  • @hgjfkd12345 Me too!

  • Deadmau5

  • @265CoJ Skrillex!

  • ok, for everyone who is replying to my comment, i was saying it AS A JOKE, as is customary on youtube, making fun of the highest rated comments always somehow jabbing at how teenagers listen to classical music. dont take it seriously

  • @hgjfkd12345

    i thought it's a great comment! :)

  • Ren's Toothache :>

  • tom and jerry wern't really playing? -__-

  • Just heard this in the car on the radio, and nearly started playing air violin (if only I hadn't been handling a steering wheel and whatnot). It has infintitely lifted my mood for the day. Thank you Strauss!

  • This is, by far, the best overture of any opera or operetta I have ever listened to.

    Strauss was truly a master.

  • heard this twice in concert. i fell asleep and this song was playing in my dream. it was the coolest dream ever lol. I didn't miss the concert after all.

  • i will never be able to listen to this without picturing the gay ref prancing around

  • Best piece of classical music ever! Of course, it doesn't hurt that Die Fledermaus was my first operetta, and still my favorite.

  • I am a teenager 'not' and while Johann Strauss is a joy he was never overly classical - just an inspiring arranger. If one were to open themselves up just a smidge then it might be said that Strauss was probably one of the first, tentative rock and rollers. He was popularly popular. Regardless, these days at the very least he is, at least considered, a good cartoon scorist, if there is such a word.

  • @trojon1313 IThought I was the only one who appreciated the scores? I LIKE your characterization of Strauss. Do you know the Dane H.C. Lumbye? He wrote a novelty tune in 1847 to dedicate Denmark's first rail line - sounds just like an old steam train starting out, then cruising along and then coming to a grand stop finale. He was Tivoli's first music director for nearly 30 years. Some Danes proudly referred to Strauss as 'the Lumbye of the South.' Added this to my 1874 playlist. Stop by! chuck

  • I'm 19 and have proven my love for classical music and have seen live performances in London, and the university of Oklahoma. Motzarts Requiem makes me cry and Carmina burana gives me chills. Also, Strauss make me happy and excited. I can grasp the emotion, I'm not an idle listener.

  • @drewlink99

    who cares.... lol

  • @drewlink99

Motzart? yeah, you REALLY got love for classical music!

  • when i seen him in the beginning i jump out my chair thumbs up if you agree

  • Arby n the Chief for the win!

  • @islandstylebassist

  • 10 people don´t know the real music or don´t have a brain....

  • This was the compulsory floor music at the 1996 Olympics.

  • its like The Mouse-Bat cause "Die Fleder maus"

  • @PrInCeShAdE1 Fledermaus actually means bat. cheers :)

  • what shitfuck could dislike this?

only justin bieber , lady gaga fans or bad music fans

  • @matepimp2o1o i say both JB n' Lady Gaga and bad music fans!

  • @matepimp2o1o hey not all lady gaga's music is shit just all but 2 songs are :D I'd much rather listen to this kind of music any day :D

  • @matepimp2o1o def people have the right to do so

  • @matepimp2o1o You are being generous even calling that music.

  • @PhysicalsimForever looks like i made a mistake :))

  • @matepimp2o1o I love strauss compositions and I like lady gaga songs, but really i think that fuckin justin webas is a bullshittt

  • @matepimp2o1o the same idiots who gave you thumbs up ;)

  • @hungarianbeast are you trying to suggest someting?

    cause i don't get it...

  • @matepimp2o1o first of all, what is it that you dont understand? secondly not only justin bieber and lady gaga fans press the dislike button only idiots think like that, and of course getting a high rated comment for that is just pathetic.

  • @hungarianbeast first of all it was them choice, i didn't beg for a thumbs up- you don't have to be envious or anything like that

and secondly you don't have to call me idiot, tough guy- just calm down(it was an opinion-this is what youtube is all about)

even you can get a high rated comment ;)-only if you care less about the others...

  • Now THAT is a mustache.

  • @EmChatterBox

    Good piece too! :)

  • @EmChatterBox Yes, both Strauss and Brahms have become associated with their amazing facial hair.

  • @connorross123 ...Julius Fucik had a magnificent mustache too. Before I listen to "Entrance of the Gladiators" I salute his upper lip.

  • The waltz portion of the Overture is my favorite part...it's really such a great waltz

  • cabe suspensão condicional do processo na desclassificação e na procedência parcial da pretensão punitiva

  • oooooo i know

    highest rated comment:

Im a teenager who enjoys classical music

    *instant fame*

  • @hgjfkd12345 Same here! Joing the club! :)

  • @hgjfkd12345 you're not the only one

  • @hgjfkd12345 wtf why u put the word *highest rated comment* because some people dint rate ur comment and ur just in the second highest rated and its liek u think ur comment will always be the highest rated

  • @PrInCeShAdE1 well obviously, you don't know what sarcasm is. I put "highest rated comment" there because I was making fun of the people who get highest rated comments by announcing their youth and love of classical music combined. It would be good to also notice "*instant fame*"- it's a dead givaway.

  • @hgjfkd12345 What the Fucik?

  • @hgjfkd12345 No Tom and Jerry got it. Sorry

  • @hgjfkd12345 im probably 10 years old who love classical music ;-)

  • @PrInCeShAdE1 im 10 too and i love classical music like the nutcracker and carman

  • @hgjfkd12345 i seriously am a teenager who enjoys classical music...im 14 :D

  • @hgjfkd12345 As am i.. Teenagers who like classical music isn't exactly an anomaly lol

  • @hgjfkd12345 Hey fellow classical music loving teenager here. Johann Strauss II is my favorite classical composer.

  • @hgjfkd12345 You for got to mention the more Unknown their favorite artist is, the more fame they receive.

  • @hgjfkd12345

Yeah! I learned about this at 13 yrs old... good for you! :)))
