@wisesatyr72 But that's wrong you retard, katanas do jack against anything that is armored, let alone chainmail. Considering the armor of choice in Europe at the time was chain, the only chance the samurai would have against them would be spears that pierce, not cut.
Form a manly point of veiw, swords are obviously the way to be a true man. But from the logical point of view, any idiot would know the outcome betweena face-off of a sword and a gun. If both first strikes are guaranteed to hit the target, the gun would kill faster, before the knife. From the practical point of view, duh katanas were much more convenient both in mobility and maintenance. Come on, you dont expect a metal mechanism to be easier to mantain than a single piece of metal, do ya? Duh.
@StarAll4life they called that storm Kamikazi which means "divine wind". they saw that particular storm as help from the gods, sent to stymie the Mongol invasion.
@PnutButter1986 Did you just call me a plank. I cant even counter that its so dumb. By the way I wrote that like 10 months ago you nube tuber. And it still only takes 1 bullet to kill anyone with a sward. I don't care what that old fart said. Or how sharp your sward is. Bullet beats sward every time.Unless of course he can throw his sward as far as my 1 shooter will shoot and when you miss from there ill be reloading to put another one in that samurai's head. Wild west style..
@Tonelokedy Yes I called you a plank, which you would know what it meant if you were English (It's a polite way of calling you stupid). Think about it logically - 100 Samurai, 100 Musketeers, 100 meters apart. In the time refered to, matchlock muskets were the rifles in use - these muskets were fired with a piece of smouldering cord and were extremely unreliable, the slightest bit of damp or unfavourable weather would cause them to malfunction. They also fired on average 1 round per minute.
@Tonelokedy Taking these facts into account it would be easy for the Samurai to overrun the musketeers - Swords don't fail in bad weather or need reloading. And you wouldn't shoot the Samurai 'Wild West style' because the Wild West didn't exist at that time, neither did Smith & Wesson. Just you, and your crappy matchlock barely functional musket.... Idiot
@PnutButter1986 wild west as in draw quick and put it in his head. I dont have anything against swords I have practiced martial arts and weapons retention for years. Your history is correct. But i was mostly talking an even match 1 v 1 of course the Gun was superior. But because sword clans often rode together in large numbers and the as we know samurai was of the most superior. Sheerly because of there numbers not there swords. Top shooter Vs Top Swords Man I say let YOU TUBE decide.
Well different culture The West had Chivalry. In Chivalry you were suppose to treat your prisoner with respect, and the way you would like to be treated if you your self were a prisoner Also in Chivalry you were not suppose to kill him or torture him
Now I do not know what the Spartans think about POWs
The Spartans killed POWs too of course the Spartans enslaved a near people of their city-state the Hilotas and one of rituals for a Spartan boy turn into a man was at nigth withoud any Spartan Guard see killed one Hilota.
No no thats is just myth in realty both japanese and americans killed POWS many japanese were afraid of surrender because they know that they would be killed even after surrender this happen many times many times marines look for wounded japanese and shot them with colt 45 many colect their skuls ironical that reminds me of colecting of heads that samurais did xD.I know at least one macrab american tank crew that put japense skuls in their armour of tank.
And Chivalry is also a myth when you heard of medieval knigth sparing some saracen?! Never lol the crusaders did massacres by thousands and they were knigths the only time I remember that knigths spare POWs was when they were rich so nobles of course and they would won money with ransom xD.

@Tonelokedy He said Samurai swords were superior to 16th century muskets you plank. Which by the way fired less than 1 round per minute

cool video, but how did this get past production when the narrator kept saying 'sameeurai' all the time!
Samgurney88 2 years ago 2
That's just the way the narrator says it, because of his accent.

I think that Spartans followed the principle of "Total victory or total defeat." So they wouldn't be the ones to take prisoners.
