Not trying to be gross or TMI, but I'm 21, and a married mom, but I do enjoy reading/ looking at hentai and/ or explicit graphic novels. And my husband loves that about me! Women should never have to hide or be ashamed for enjoying something like that just as much as a man. We're sexual beings just as much as they are!

I honestly think there is a reason why even in modern societies women are not supposed to show their sexuality as exposed as men do because most men are simply not attracted to women that do this kind of things. Maybe it is because they become deterred of too high expectations that women could get or they lose their state as the protector of the weak women they were atraccted to..

People know their own bodies better than anyone else. Like men, I'm sure all women take the time to satisfy themselves even if they have a partner. Women most likely buy this sort of thing for the same reason men do. The thing is, it is hard to tell if they buy these purely for sexual stimulation. Some may just get a kick out of sexual stories. (The same way some men enjoy ecchi) I think it is a safe bet to say women enjoy the same things men do, but don't make it as public.

You are wrong about sex and nudity on Japanese TV. Fuji TV has a show called Motto Onsen ni Ikou that shows a woman completely nude including ass shots wher you can see the woman's pubic hair ang vag. TV Tokyo aired a lesbian sex on Christmas of all things. There are more where this came from. I cam PM ypu the link if you want or you can look them up on sankaku complex and find them under the 'TV' tag.
In the host clubs some women pay money to be flirted on, its looked rather interesting when I saw it on tv cause they select the guys from a menu...although I'm not sure if thats excuslively for the above working class demographic. Also not sure if a manga fan would go there
I lived in Japan for many years and from my experience yes they rarely show any public displays of affection. And when they did which was rare, nearly everyone would glance over almost as if telling them to stop. And as for males vs females I believe I only saw males reading it on trains which didn't happen all that often but was not uncommon.

Women most likely buy this sort of thing for the same reason men do. The thing is, it is hard to tell if they buy these purely for sexual stimulation. Some may just get a kick out of sexual stories.
