@Highretrogamelord89 Don't forget the PATRIOT ACT, or the NDAA, which allows any US citizen to be detained forever. But wait, that doesn't kill YouTube, so it doesn't matter.
Man, that is the TACKIEST AI overlord I have ever seen....If I would build that thing, I would at least make it look...you know...welcoming? Or at least awesome.
And what is this about a 3% revolt chance?! Who decided not to put in a killswitch? Did they not watch terminator?
WARNING! I have played this game for years. I NEVER build the AI Entity though. I feel it is more like a 50% or better chance it will revolt and let chaos ensure at some point in the game. At least that has been my experience.
I'm playing call to power at the moment. can anyone tell me why those videos dont play correctly? not even intro one. screen is just dark and i can only hear sound
@unsword It is the same for me. I can only guess its because the videos are not supported for Windows 7 (I am assuming u r running that since I am). Wish I knew how to fix that
@IDH2008 hoooooly shit i've didnt check the mailbox for long anyway if you're still interested about how to fix it, i've managed to get it working, turn the game synchronization to windows 98, worked for me bud
For some reason a future like this comforts me, despite it being a sentient machine with a craving for power. I must be more of a AI sympathizer than I thought.
@stupidroro I actually feel the same way, but it just wouldn't be acceptable for only *one* being to know everything. In my perfect future, we'd all be connected. Ever play Deus Ex: Invisible War and help the Dentons at the end? Not a great game, but it's a good example of what I mean.
@TaintedMustard I've played the first one and seen videos of the 2nd. But the AI is only as good as its programming, just like us and our electrobiochemical stuff. :/
@BitterBurst Good and Evil are social constructs. There is merely what is balanced and unbalanced, and what is balanced tends to be "Good" for all, but what is unbalanced is tends to be "Evil" for all but it is not an equal 1 to 1 correspondence.
@BitterBurst I don't know if I know, please indulge me. Some would say evil is deliberate malice, but many horrible things have happened in the name of a greater good. Some would say evil is selfishness, but others would say that's just ignorance, and yet others would say selfishness is a virtue. So what is the nature of evil? Malice? Ignorance? Selfishness? Imperfection? Is evil even a useful concept?
...Okay, umm... I really want to play Call to Power now. Wish they made a thrid... Anyway though, can anyone tell me what happens when that thing revolts?
@svartmetall48 Wow. Okay, yeah, pass on that! I've never been a fan of AIs and transhumanism anyway... Unless an AI has the capacity to care, a lifespan and human emotions, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
Gods, I wish there was a Call to Power 3 now. The second one seemed dummed down a bit to me... That and I can't run either any more and I've yet to find an emulator that will work.
@Archris17 Have you tried changing the .exe file's compatibility to "Windows 98"? And, yeah, the first Call to Power was in many ways better. For one thing, the second dropped space colonies. But both can be made even better with modding - the game data is stored in text files, CtP 2's source code was released in 2003 and there a few cool megamods on the Apolyton Civilization fansite.
3% chance every turn means you are near guaranteed to get a revolt before too long. Although it is fun to build it and then give the city away so it's owner will suffer teh inevitable revolt.
@ObadiahtheSlim I would let the computer build it, and since I had the "foreign revolting cities join your civilization" wonder, the AIs cities would all join my civilization. Then I would move all my troops out of that city, the computer would recapture it, and I would then blow it up with an Eco Ranger.
Seriously, I had one turn wonders with this thing. If you can't pump out enough shit to overrun your opponents by the time it revolts, you're doing something dreadfully wrong.
I hated this wonder cause I've seen so many times the 3% chance of Al enity revolting happen so often. What I like to do is let my opponents build it and I will build the eglarian act. So when the 3% chance does happen I get all the cities that does revolt.
The what an obvious reinactment of the all seeing eye of the Illuminati...Im not from america, but check ya dollar bills... Novus Ordo Seclorum..the illuminati pyramid
It's a reference to america's newfound democracy, and the all-seeing-eye simple represents a supreme being in a politically-correct way, since Masons don't care what you believe in, just that it's a god.
Of course, the best part about this wonder is that it eventually starts a robot rebellion :) Only way to get a decent fight out of a computer player half the time :p
The weird thing is, when this machine revolts it just forms your typical Barbarian society. Isn't this thing supposed to be more than Mr Attila the Hun? Guess the programmers got lazy here.
Looks like the Party got tired of using Big Brother to control the people and decided to personally create something to continue and permenatly assure totalitarian control.
... Too bad for them though- it looks like the AI Entity doesn't agree on the Party's interpretation of a perfect society. After all, how can a perfect machine follow such stupid beings as the Inner Party, people who care only for there own pleasure?
Yup- this is the next phase of Oceania, right here... no, the world!
I have to admit though, the AI entity bares a strange and somewhat creepy resemblance to the pyramid on the back of the 1-dollar bill. The eye on the top is supposed to represent God... so does this mean this is some twisted version of divine retribution or something?

*sigh* I had an amazing civilization, until i went for lunch, and i didnt know someone started building it on my game!!!!!!! And when it said i constructed it...NOOOO!!!-.- but im l33t at ctp2 so no worries :D
If you see the historical article in the game, the A.I. Entity in reality is not as horrifying as it seems. According to the game, it doesn't fully take over your mind; it just "sends gentle impulses to the mind of the first sign of discontent" which is just making them happier while giving them a free will.....if that makes any sense....
Its also noted that this is better than the mind controller, WHICH IT IS NOT. This peice of crap made ALL my cities revolt at the same time and I lost. :(
Not horryfying, yeah right. Sounds like those experiments that were performed on rats. They put electrodes in rat's brain that would stimulate the brain's pleasure center if the animal would press a button. Rats wouldn't eat or sleep, just kept pressing the button until they were too weak from starvation to even move.
This is the most interesting wonder in my oppinion. It sucks that it was removed from Call to Power 2. Say guys, is there any Civ game or mod that includes this wonder other than Call to Power?
machine rules with total authority, all workers are content (no riots), but every turn there's 3% chance of AI revolting. It's a kind of trap, really, since AI lets you set work time to maximum, wages and food to minimum in any government type, and people are still content. Then when AI rebels, its effect is first turned off, all your cities become VERY unhappy and then join the AI's barbarian faction. Save often :P
I don't remember what civilzation or leader it makes, it just says "The A.I. Entity has malfunctioned! Your city has been overthrown by super intellegant machines!" in a text box. :p
It creates a rebel nation from some of your cities and troops. I only lost rhe game once because of this. The AI took the city with the most military units inside and raped my other last cities in like 4 turns.
Hmm, that's odd... for some reason it liked to take over every single city I had.
But now that you mention it, the reason for that might be because I had a substantial amount of units guarding all of my cities, hence all cities being taken over...
It was like 5 years ago or more since i last played CtP 1. SO i could be wrong. But since you loose the game if you lost all your cities, having all of them taken away in a single turn is to harsh. I'm pretty sure i remember fighting the AI a few times. I used to have all of my military in one or maybe two bordercities. If these two were taken, i was raped. If not, i quelled the rebellion quite fast.
It is harsh but that's exactly what happened, when I moved onto the next turn I would be given the loss video. After a few attempts with no change I sold the AI Entity wonder and it never happened again.
Oh well. Building individual mind controllers is more useful in this case anyway since there's no chance of rebellion.
SOPA/PIPA/ACTA ... all in one.

Duely Noted, except I was lucky when it revolted and lost a city. The city soon crumbled under a massive assault by me.

It also checks for any current grievances a citizen may have at the moment. Sorta like the Helios AI in Deus Ex Invisible war.

The Mind Controller is, by far, the scariest wonder imo.

This is the most interesting wonder in my oppinion. It sucks that it was removed from Call to Power 2. Say guys, is there any Civ game or mod that includes this wonder other than Call to Power?

That is some of the creepiest shit I've ever seen.

machine rules with total authority, all workers are content (no riots), but every turn there's 3% chance of AI revolting. It's a kind of trap, really, since AI lets you set work time to maximum, wages and food to minimum in any government type, and people are still content. Then when AI rebels, its effect is first turned off, all your cities become VERY unhappy and then join the AI's barbarian faction. Save often :P

This Wonder is inspired by the book 1984.

This is easily one of the more creepy, and flat out scary Wonders in CTP (because, really what government wouldn't LOVE to have this?)

All the future Wonders gave me the chills, but this takes the cake. "Without want, there is no need. I SEE ALL"

if it sees all?
OMG ITS WATCHING ME IN THE SHOWER 0_o

I never got much into the game. When the Wonder triggers a revolt, does it create a new civilization? Is the leader named "A.I. Entity"?
BaronGrackle 2 years ago
No, it creates barbarians. I think the programmers got lazy here and didn't want to add a better rogue civilization.
n4mel3ss 2 years ago 4
I don't remember what civilzation or leader it makes, it just says "The A.I. Entity has malfunctioned! Your city has been overthrown by super intellegant machines!" in a text box. :p

It should do so real fast, too! I haven't played Call to Power myself, but here's a trick of probability mathematics.
3% may be miniscule odds on any single check, but if it's checked every turn, the chance that it never comes up is (1-0.03)^(number of turns).
By 23 turns, it's a 50-50 chance that the Terminators have rolled out.

I personally never built the AI Entity because it almost always eventually led to a revolt.

@Epoq I never played Call to Power enough to understand what the AI Revolt is like. However, I'm really curious. Care to enlighten me?
RedTigerBlood 1 year ago
Enlighten I shall... basically what happens is that you pretty much lose the game since you lose all cities to the revolt. That's about it.
It keeps everyone content until then at least. :/
Epoq 1 year ago
It creates a rebel nation from some of your cities and troops. I only lost rhe game once because of this. The AI took the city with the most military units inside and raped my other last cities in like 4 turns.
Kageshika 1 year ago 2
Hmm, that's odd... for some reason it liked to take over every single city I had.
But now that you mention it, the reason for that might be because I had a substantial amount of units guarding all of my cities, hence all cities being taken over...
Epoq 1 year ago
It was like 5 years ago or more since i last played CtP 1. SO i could be wrong. But since you loose the game if you lost all your cities, having all of them taken away in a single turn is to harsh. I'm pretty sure i remember fighting the AI a few times. I used to have all of my military in one or maybe two bordercities. If these two were taken, i was raped. If not, i quelled the rebellion quite fast.
Kageshika 1 year ago
It is harsh but that's exactly what happened, when I moved onto the next turn I would be given the loss video. After a few attempts with no change I sold the AI Entity wonder and it never happened again.
Oh well. Building individual mind controllers is more useful in this case anyway since there's no chance of rebellion.
