My friend started me on Wicca before I moved away (yes I'm a teenager), but I still want to get into it and I don't have access to my friend for help to get started. My mom still says she's worried I'm going to hel but I tell her Pope John Paul said any person who lives in accordance with the teachings of Christ whether they believe in him or not can enter heaven. Also, I remind them I am not a Christian, the devil only exists in Chrisitan theology therefore Satanism is a branch of Chrsitianity. I say pagans take responsiblity for our own actions and don't blame outside forces.

@zenirayne I got lucky in the family i grew up in. My mum and I are both Wicca/Pagan. And a lot of my friends are accepting of it, but sometimes, I find that one who insults me and calls me a Witch or Wizard as if it's an insult. In my community, it's hard to do things solo especially out in the elements.

@lieslfancool For you, I would recommend you find a legit coven, with experienced members. And hopefully you're 18 or over? Because legit covens will not allow anyone younger than that unless their parents are also part of the coven. The reason being that we don't want to encourage kids sneaking around behind their parents backs. I love being a solitary. You don't have to go through an initiation for someone to tell you that you are an official witch. Besides, you can meet witch friends online.

- I'm 26 and just told my mom today. Her reply was that she used to practice Wiccan as well, even though my family is non-practicing Catholic. You never know how your parents will take it though, especially the parents who are uninformed about Wicca.

My Norwegian grandfather had a saying "My temple is my fields, the forests and the water, I have no need for constrictions of a church. If I want to talk to spirit I just go out to my fields and into the forest."

a simple candle has no particular wiccan signal yet it is about all that is needed to cast a spell or honor your goddess. a collection of stones has no particular wiccan signal to the unknowing, yet to your contact with the elements, you will know. You dont really need a pentacle though you can form one on a glass dish with water on your fingertip. There is much mystery you can create for yourself.

hmm my family is strictly christian so i find it hard to even hint that i am a wiccan witch. there is strong disapproval for it ): so i just keep to myself about it, i'll tell them when i move out.
@zenirayne I have not told my parents (I'm a 22 year old college student). My parents would try to 'deprogram' me. So, I keep my books in my drawers. I keep my candles, herbs, and altar tools in my nightstand. I practice when I know they are not home, or they are upstairs in they're room (my bedroom is in the basement). When I cannot do a full ritual, I pray in silence. You can start by simply praying, then when you're on your own, you can start full rituals.
@HSIRES3 I know exactly how you feel! My mother is extremely Christian and she doesn't allow anything like pentacles, incense, etc. in the house. I'm 19 in college. As soon as I move out, I'm going to be practicing out of secret, so to speak. As to add to your advice, silent prayer is the way to start. Get a connection with the Goddess and the Horned God. Then practice rituals. I know way too many Wiccans that have been led astray by the allure of using the Craft for vengeance. Merry Meet )O(

There really is no need for a bunch of stuff in order to work with energy and develop the power of the mind. We meet in private and we keep silent.
A witch was one with the power to control themselves on a very spiritual level, so powerful, they became wise, so wie, they could manipulate the world around them through karma. Can a non witch, cast a spell? Do witches fall in love with non witches? Is there a spell for that to happen? Are Norns considered witches? Can witches be hired to perform spells? Can Norns be summoned? Can witches be summoned? Do Covens have tax exempt status? Are the elements gone? Is the water soon to end? Can witches see the future? Do they fear the future? Merry Meet. I just want to say that I love your work on putting these beautiful pictures and words to share with all. I was brought up Episcopalian, but, knew that was not who I was. Yes, my family thinks its a phase and I am silly for my beliefs, but, I forgive them and their ignorance of not being open minded. It is not their fault, it is what they were taught or lack thereof. My father a catholic priest was convinced I was possessed by a demon I will not say what I went through but my body and spirit were damaged It has taken me 3 years of physical and mental therapy to come to the realization that I did nothing wrong. I don't know if this is the best place to ask but I see the people I need to talk to are on here. My friend started me on Wicca before I moved away (yes I'm a teenager), but I still want to get into it and I don't have access to my friend for help to get started. its interesting the depth of hatred towards our people brought on by the dogmas of the catholic faith, the pagan christian church. I have been a witch for a number of years and i am still boggled by the propaganda that still exsist in our world. world where people are free to practice whatever religion they choose, any but witchcraft that is. i have paid a price for myfaith in what i believe and will stand shoulder to shoulder with those who walk with the same perfect love and perfect trust...

@zenirayne I came out with it and researched any questions. My mom still says she's worried I'm going to hel but I tell her Pope John Paul said any person who lives in accordance with the teachings of Christ whether they believe in him or not can enter heaven. Also, I remind them I am not a Christian, the devil only exists in Chrisitan theology therefore Satanism is a branch of Chrsitianity. I say pagans take responsiblity for our own actions and don't blame outside forces.

@zenirayne I got lucky in the family i grew up in. My mum and I are both Wicca/Pagan. And a lot of my friends are accepting of it, but sometimes, I find that one who insults me and calls me a Witch or Wizard as if it's an insult. In my community, it's hard to do things solo especially out in the elements.

@ShadowMan55 I don't have that luck, my mother knows about me, but she has never heard about it. and I told it to two of my friends, with them I try to have a coven but my feelings says that they're not the right person and they're not really interest in it, so I always have to do in on my own... that's not always nice, I hope I ever met someone I can start a coven with. x

@lieslfancool For you, I would recommend you find a legit coven, with experienced members. And hopefully you're 18 or over? Because legit covens will not allow anyone younger than that unless their parents are also part of the coven. The reason being that we don't want to encourage kids sneaking around behind their parents backs. I love being a solitary. You don't have to go through an initiation for someone to tell you that you are an official witch. Besides, you can meet witch friends online.

- I'm 26 and just told my mom today. Her reply was that she used to practice Wiccan as well, even though my family is non-practicing Catholic. You never know how your parents will take it though, especially the parents who are uninformed about Wicca.

My Norwegian grandfather had a saying "My temple is my fields, the forests and the water, I have no need for constrictions of a church. If I want to talk to spirit I just go out to my fields and into the forest."

@zenirayne I found it to be difficult at first my father did not understand so thus was angry that I chose something he did not understand all you can do is tell them and explain to them what wicca is and hope they understand.... for a long time I had to practice in secret.

a simple candle has no particular wiccan signal yet it is about all that is needed to cast a spell or honor your goddess. a collection of stones has no particular wiccan signal to the unknowing, yet to your contact with the elements, you will know. You dont really need a pentacle though you can form one on a glass dish with water on your fingertip. There is much mystery you can create for yourself.

@zenirayne I have not told my parents (I'm a 22 year old college student). My parents would try to 'deprogram' me. So, I keep my books in my drawers. I keep my candles, herbs, and altar tools in my nightstand. I practice when I know they are not home, or they are upstairs in they're room (my bedroom is in the basement). When I cannot do a full ritual, I pray in silence. You can start by simply praying, then when you're on your own, you can start full rituals.

@HSIRES3 I know exactly how you feel! My mother is extremely Christian and she doesn't allow anything like pentacles, incense, etc. in the house. I'm 19 in college. As soon as I move out, I'm going to be practicing out of secret, so to speak. As to add to your advice, silent prayer is the way to start. Get a connection with the Goddess and the Horned God. Then practice rituals. I know way too many Wiccans that have been led astray by the allure of using the Craft for vengeance. Merry Meet )O(

theres no need to be in a coven, im solitary, there is no need for an alter, be the alter yourself, in modern times, sometimes its impossible to act out how you would have been able to if you were in an open household, celebrate your beliefs in other ways, in our holidays, do something that represents the season, bake food, offer it to your family, share, on others its time to give back to the earth, go and plant some seeds or flowers in your garden, these acts are seen as normal by others, x,x,

My father is Catholic by choice and my mother follows Wicca, I have chosen the none racial version of Asatru, my g/fis a grey and honestly I have found that bunt honesty works best, noone can hate a person for telling the turth they can only loathe that which they do not understand, and that is our place to enlighten. @zenirayne I have heard this question asked many times. It really depends on your family. Are they of a strict religious background or are they open-minded to most things? And you need to ask yourself why you feel you need to tell them. Is it really necessary? Witchcraft is a private, personal practice. But, just saying that you are interested in New Age philosophy or a meditation practice is close enough. lol Just keep your Pentacles put away for ritual and no one would know the difference. :)

@Freyja1133 Well, if you still live with your parents, you have no choice but to do what they think is best. If you are grown and have your own place, you do what you please. There really is no need for a bunch of stuff in order to work with energy and develop the power of the mind. The outward image of a Witch, making people uncomfortable, conflict and controversy are the ego at work. It has no place in Witchcraft. Witches keep things between Witches. We meet in private and we keep silent.

A witch was one with the power to control themselves on a very spiritual level, so powerful, they became wise, so wie, they could manipulate the world around them through karma. It's a tough job, but it is very possible. Being a witch, takes much patience and a pure heart, depending on what you want to do. Oh and a lot of sacrifice. Not literally, but emotionally, giving up what you most desire, not for others desires, but to help balance the world while giving yourself a good karma
