Too bad Xiu Xiu is hipster shit and Jamie Stewart thinks that singing bad and making completely erratic noise in no apparent key makes the music eccentric and interesting or unique. That being said this song is pretty nice and lacks many of the core elements that make Xiu Xiu hipster shit. I've yet to find anyone who can explain to me what is enjoyable musically about Xiu Xiu other than that it's "unique". Someone correct me please?

Well, first off, he and the music are not out of tune. At all. You just feel like it is because you don't have a musical formation, don't be an ass about it. Saying he sings badly is like saying Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antony Hegarty or Daniel Johnston sing badly, and that would be daring, right. Secondly, the lyrics allow such harsh singing cuz the narrator is obviously tortured by something he's trying to "forget" so it's genuinely justified. Fabulous Muscles is a Fabulous album and that's all.

I'm referring to most of their other songs when I say "in no apparent key" (not this one) and I didn't say out of tune, that's completely different. And my opinion on his voice is obviously subjective. I don't actually think his voice is bad, per say, but quite often obnoxious and it doesn't seem justified. I've heard many other artists pull off deeply acidic lyrics keeping all the emotion without having to break their voices so often as he does. Still didn't say what's enjoyable though. :<
