You've been in my thoughts and prayers ever since Jimmymac gave me this news. I love that you sang in this... I have ALWAYS loved your singing, your playing, your creative mind. You (and Alice) have always done so much for me and for others on YouTube and I will be ever-grateful to you for all your help. your ideas, your creative suggestions, and mostly for your very caring and warm friendship.
I play guitar, I sing (sort of) and I'm a smoker trying to quit. Thank you for posting this video. I'll be watching it a few more times over the next few weeks. My best wishes to you.
My wonderful friend, let's pray there will be a cure one day. For us old timers we didn't know how bad smoking was until the damage was done. No one on earth can know the pain you feel, but I come close. Eyes wide open, each day is a wonderful day. You see colors never seen. Passions never felt. Music in your mind and your heart. I would love your music even if you have to sign with your toes.
Hi there, I found your video featured at Tuks page, in the beginning I thought this will be a happy song, with the colourful video, but than it has totally changed, this is so sad, really not easy for a musician like you. I have often seen your collabs with Mark. You are all so creative and talented. I wish you all the best, respect to all of you. Steffen
if you´re reading this and you are a smoker...i wish you are still on time to quit without external consequences...and Bios...you may have losed your voice but your talent is still there...you´re still an excellent guitar/piano player...i hope everyone gets your message...QUIT SMOKING!!
This made me cry mate, I lost so many family members to those damn things, my dad was dragging an oxygen bottle by the age of 49 years old and died a horrible death from emphysema when he was 55, my mothers life was cut short as well, not to mention the many years of reduced quality of life. This should be an anti-smoking commercial on TV friend and I will share it as much as I can. Take care of that voice, I believe it will get better with time. Our prayers are with you and family. Mark
I have and feel many of the sentiments as Mark, who sent me this vid. It's horrendous what this legal killer can and does do:and I know a close friend who also lost their voice and other things we take for granted through throat cancer. At the moment they are in remission:but it hurts to see their sheer frustration, and to know they will be on medication for life. This vid moved me so much:it tells it straight:and I agree that it is the best commercial for those trying to quit. You're right:you can
Sorry to hear about your friend, there are a lot more people than we know affected by just this, I've known several folks with that and many others who died from it. My dad died of a horrible death from emphysema at the age I presently am, I remember when I'd go to visit him he would ask me if I had any cigarettes and I'd say yes and he's ask me to light one up and then he'd slip the oxygen line away from his nose so he could take a hit, then he'd struggle to catch a whimper of breath. Sad!!!
PS! I'm grateful I gave them things up over 10 years ago and honestly regret ever picking them up. I feel saddened when I see young folks in their teens taking up this habit, just knowing many of them will die a horrible death because of their addiction.
While the big tobacco companies are making millions.people slowly get hooked:and giving up is not easy.It takes a long time for the nicotine to leave the body:and it's the chemicals in the cigarette that do the damage.
That's a horrible memory to have;but I bet he got the nicotine hit he so desperately craved.I don't know about in the States:here the Govt;get 2/3rds of every pkt you buy;obscene but they know there is a huge market out there:so they sell a killer legally with no repercussions.
I think that even if one of the big companies got taken to court:the profit margin is so high:to them it would be like a small dent.We would be horrified if heroin(eg) was available over the counter:yet we are readily sold something that they know is highly addictive:and throat cancer, sadly,is one of the results. Thanks again for this very though-provoking and sad vid:and to know that your voice(as a musician) will never be the same must have hit you hard.My tkz again to Mark for sending me this.
Glenn sent me over to see this and I wish you all the luck in the world in beating the cancer. You have a tremendous talent and I pray that you will continue sharing it. May God bless you.
Only a man who knows himself well and has the blessing of a turely loving family could do such a thing as this video. I am proud to have worked with you in my hobby.
This is motivation for a very special piece that I shall constuct in your honour.
Your collaborations with other singers are the best! You're giving and giving because of this. It's good for the human soul to give. Still, I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. Glad I don't smoke too I guess. Warmest regards and thanks for uploading such a brave respectable open and honest message. Pete.
Rick, I won't cry for you because I have all faith that you are and will continue to beat the big C. Further, my wonderful friend, your voice has and will without doubt continue to be heard loud and clear through your talent, creativity, and the beating of your kind and generous heart.
This video made me cry, Rick. I guess you remember me, Janet, of onewomanandsomesongs. I've been going through some of my own health issues lately (not cancer returning though) but I'm a 13 year cancer survivor. I'm also on treatments (every three weeks Herceptin) to keep it from returning. I wish you all the best! I hope you continue to get well and to make that wonderful music of yours. :)
Rick, I am crying for you. What a beautiful video and a great thing you have done to try to help others. Your music is magical and inspirational - I know you will keep singing in your heart while you play your guitar. And your beautiful family will help you through. Best wishes to you.
Hiya Sylvia, we still got something pending, love your voice and attitude. Love the way you sang Justin´s song, I have it on a CD in my car, so smooth and relaxing, you did it good Gal!
@bios36 Hi Rick, well I would like that very much! Just whenever you are feeling up to it. Thanks so much for your kind words. Both you & Justin did wonderful work on that song, making me sound as good as I did. Take good care of yourself and talk to you soon. Best wishes, Sylvia ps listening to this song again, so beautiful!
Hi Rick, kind of thought it might have been cancer. I am just over thirteen months having had surgery for lung cancer. I understand what you are saying. Thank you for this video. It had to be hard for you to do and hopefully it does what you intend it to do. Beautiful music as usual. :))
Thank you for taking your time to post such a meaningful comment. The truth is, I feel pretty confident and optimistic. No reason for it to come back, same applies to you my friend
Rick, I have tears in my eyes. I hope you beat this. You're a wonderful guy that I admire a lot. You are showing tremendous spirit with this video and I hope others will heed your message.
I think you can still sing and play Rick. You might have lost your voice but it may return .Those are called miracles. And Im praying that one lands right in your lap. .Your guitar playin isnt affected. thats for sure. anyway I know Ill see ya on the tube with Luke. playing away. so I await your next song.
