Jadamog, I carry a compass, scout my locations well in advance and get up early. I use a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod with a Manfrotto 700 RC2 fluid head, turn off the cameras stabilizer function and use manual focus and exposure when ever possible. If the camera is set to highest quality recording and sufficient light is available for consumer grade equipment and the sun is in a good position you can get incredible quality from the Sony HDR-CX100.
