  • mhhh sry but FU** SGA SGU is teh sh!t =)

  • Oh and BTW? A good starting point for a reboot (although its more of a continuation rather than a reboot) is the season finale of SGA.

  • I think just the opposite Pebble. And you say that the ratings were super low; that's why you should've given it a chance. And now...

Only old reruns. And BTW? Those 3 did very well, and they created a great show in SGU; you just don't know a good TV show when you see it; it wasn't about the "action" as much as it was ABOUT the characters and their struggles aboard Destiny. And the shaky camera? Added a good element to the show, as they are isolated from Earth. And um, I disagree with you on BG.

  • It was also one of the best Dramas that I have ever seen; like the acting was very well, and I mean very well done. I'm not saying SGA or SG-1 wasn't, but it brought a hell of a lot more to the table and they did very well; sure it took some time to develop but I watched it, and grew into it mid first season. Now its gone, and well, yea. So good job to you diehard fanboys who axe a franchise that you love. Congradulations! Your an idiot! I also blame "siffy" (syfy) for promoting wrestling. Gay.

  • st: voyager: its the enterprise witha new name and face lost in uncharted space

st: enterprise: don't even let me get STARTED on how crappy that was

i kinda hope stargate doesn't come out with anything new, i like what it already has and i don't want any crappy producers, writers or anything butchering the universe that has been created via SG1 and SGA and maybe a little bit even from SGU

  • i hope stargate reboots but really guys think about it: for every branch off of a great sci-fi idea, the plots get crappier and crappier. compare to the star trek franchise:

star trek: great plot line, but as sson as roddenbery quit and crappy writers took over for dorothy fontana and co: it sucked

st: the next generation: interesting, new, carried on longer, but lost flavour and got cancelled

st: deep space nine: again cool branch off, but REALLY?

  • @naradabourne7 Agreed, I hope it will be a very long long LONG time before Stargate is rebooted. maybe in 20-25 years...with a fresh take with new writers and new ideas and even better actors and effects.

  • @TelepathicPebble I disagree with you on that. Although the fresh take would be good: just not the wait.

  • well SGA need to stay thank fuck they canned SGU boring show but hey this vid was great

  • This is why I hate you diehard fanboys. You decide to hate SGU and not give it a chance. Look at the Stargate Franchise now. That's right. No more Stargate AT ALL: And SGU was starting to get good, and in some ways better than SG-1 and SGA. Sure, there weren't as many "action" sequences, but it wasn't about that. It was about the acting, and what the people on Destiny were experiencing. Sure, I hated when SGA was cancelled, but that doesn't mean you alienate a series.

  • @swingbr1313 There is some talk that a few years from now, someone will restart the Stargate Franchise, but where will it head? What will the subject matter be? You sign your petitions, oh wait, they cancelled it years ago. They cancelled SGU after 1 season, because YOU had to abandon all reason and say if we can't have our actiony SGA, there will be no Stargate Universe or whatever. If you wanted to save SGA, you should've proposed a continuation from San Francisco, and promoted SGU.

  • @swingbr1313 Of course Stargate will be rebooted eventually, just like Star Trek was. I just hope Brad Wright, Robert Cooper & Joseph Mallozzi having nothing to do with it. Their talents have obviously been exhausted and they cannot produce dark, gritty, dramatic scifi if their life depended on it. It's like after the success of Battlestar Galactica they became envious and decided to mimic it...but by only taking its worse qualities: shaky camera, SEX in face, trapped on grey dark ship, etc.

  • I have just gotten into SGA, and I have finished SG-1. I have finished SGU, partly because there were only 2 seasons. Sure, would I like to have more Stargate Atlantis? Yes, the series finale was open-ended and not a good way to go out with a bang. Anyway, your video didn't even pass the 1000 views mark.

  • @swingbr1313 Haha wow you are so hypocritical. Do you really think SGU was cancelled on the account of people like myself making petty protest videos or even b/c of the SGU sucks site? You said yourself my video doesn't even have 1,000 views. Wanna know why SGU was axed? The views/ratings for it were SUPER LOW = no profit = cancelled. Seriously get real. The show had a lot of potential but it bombed b/c the writers didn't know what they were doing and the cast brought nothing to the table!

  • @swingbr1313 This is why I hate ignorant fangirls. YOU NEED TO WAKE UP. I didn't decide to hate anything; as a matter of fact I gave SGU a chance and watched at least 6 episodes in the hope that my initial disliking would wane, however it did not and I increasingly hated SGU the more I saw it. You're right about one thing: what made the show horrible was its lousy acting and melodramatic/boring plotlines (can you even say that trash had a plot??) stuck on that dreary ship.

  • Sure it was melodramatic. But it had good acting. And um... not boring. "Oh I gave it a chance; but it did not." Hmmm, and SG-1 and SG-A weren't melodramatic? Yea get your facts straight.

  • @swingbr1313 BLASPHEMY!!! NOTHING is better than SG1 and Atlantis. Universe was good, but ENOUGH WITH THE DRAMA!!! I got 5 lifetimes worth of it during high school.

  • @RohanSpartin Oh so nothing is better than SG1 and Atlantis? Really. You have to believe that SGU had its shortcomings (which weren't many), but also had things that were better than SGA and SG-1. For example, its graphics and computer animation. But you guys don't pay any attention to that stuff, you just look at how "dreary" the whole situation is. THAT'S KIND OF THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW! But you have to look in-between the lines!

  • They canned SGA before they announced SGU starco22. Get your facts straight.

  • thanks

    save the gate

  • Anytime!

  • Great video. I love it so much. Yes we must continue to fight fot our great show and Lt Col John Sheppard. I don't want B.Wright's the new toy show. Petition grow up too. continue to send snail mail, email, cards and go to the site hey!nielsen. If MGM, SCI-FI and B. Wright don't reconsider their decision they will have a great deillusion and they will loose all the fan base of SGA

  • Thanks man. Those dopes won't know what hit 'em!

  • Yeah... It's bull! I was there when they announced it and I totally agree... The don't need to mould a series to a certain fan base to make their quotas... In the words of Cameron Mitchell- "Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment." Period.

  • MGM, Scifi, & Brad Wright won't know what hit them soon... They're so inconsiderate to the fanbase. First they take our show, then make a new one for a "younger generation"!

  • We Dave Howe can watch this stupid show himself!!!i dont want to see a startrekclone of SGA!!!!What the hell do they think of us fans!!!

  • Same, I don't want to watch some stupid brats go riding around the universe. Sounds so cliche'. And that characters are unbelievably horrible. One was described as the daughter of a senator and she's a party girl. *GASP!*

  • @TelepathicPebble I don't know who fed you that bull, I like SGA and want it back, but SGU is also an awesome show, whoever said it was like Star Trek Voyager needs their heads examined, the only thing remotely similar is the fact that they are lost, the closed-minded view of the characters is an insult to the entire Stargate series, including SG1 and SGA, try not to make judgements based on a few peoples point of view, it makes you as sheeplike as the soap opera characters you compare them to.

  • I've seen SGU myself, and I can tell you that show alone is an insult to the Stargate franchise.

  • Episodes I've seen work well as part of the franchise, people had the same reactions the first time SGA came out, it wouldn't hold up to SG1, that it would fall below par and drag the franchise down with it, SGA had a number of crap episodes in the first season, but the people who decided to stick with it found it to be a well made and entertaining show.

I accept your dislike of SGU, but calling it the same thing SGA was considered in it's first season does not really support your argument.

  • Not to mention at least one SGA movie is in production, so saying they've abandoned SGA for SGU is a lie and deserves to be treated as such.

  • A movie in production? Wow, that's a joke. We all know the SG1 movies were just really long episodes, and the same will go with SGA. I don't want a movie, and I don't some silly Stargate Universe. I want Stargate Atlantis back! Neither a movie nor SGU can replace Atlantis.

SGU is ridiculous and does not stay true to the franchise. Its copying the likes of BSG and failing terribly at it (if your going to do it that way, at least do it right!). TPTB are foolish to abandon the fandom.

  • As someone who has seen BSG, Star Trek Voyager and SGU, I'd say your analysis is rather inaccurate and excessively broad, all three shows are completely different aside from their lost in space aspect, trying to compare them is like trying to compare Star Trek to Firefly, or Firefly to Farscape, they're all set in space, that doesn't make them all the same program.

I feel that SGU is a good show and it's characters are far more interesting than your narrow-minded ideas of them seem to suggest.

  • I apologise, I just realized I am being more than a little rude when defending SGU, I don't mean to cause dis-respect, I tend to get over-zealous when people disagree with some of my ideas.

I still think SGU is a good program, my opinion is not likely to change anytime soon, but I feel that I need to apologize for turning a difference in tastes into what could be considered a fight.

I like SGU, you don't, I will leave it at that.

  • SGU is fake, its shakey camera style is so lame and no where on par to BSG. I can see the appeal of taking a more serious/in depth turn in the Stargate franchise, but as far as I'm concerned SGU has done this the wrong way.

I'd much rather see more of the Pegasus galaxy, where the actors have fun, the characters are original, the wraith are scary, and there's an epic floating city. Not to mention, that galaxy hardly has been explored, there are still numerous lifeforms yet to be descovered :)

  • The show I see is very realistic, it matches the things that have happened in my life and the lives of people around me, how loosing a parent feels, being betrayed by someone you trusted, lashing out at that person for hurting you, having a loved one seduced as revenge for something you had no control over, being trapped with no idea how to fix the problem, the knowledge that someone was a suicide risk and the guilt over not having seen it.

Though I do agree the kino thing is a little silly.

  • Good for you. I can connect to plot devices too if I wanted, but the lack of actual acting and chemistry on screen makes that unbearably hard to do.

  • As someone who's mother was a career actor, on stage and screen, I've learned to spot when acting is done badly, I've been doing it since I was 5.

All of the Actors on SGU do it well.

  • Whoa 0MG your momma was a career actor?! I guess I'll have to throw away my entire opinion about the show then because your momma's expertise outweigh my opinion as a viewer xD

  • Your opinion as a viewer is still valid.

Different people like different types of acting, it doesn't mean that the acting they don't like is not good, it simply means their taste is not the same.

Saying someone's acting is bad because you don't like it is akin to saying people shouldn't eat something because you don't like how it tastes.

Different does not make it bad, it just makes it different.

your tastes are not law, anymore than mine are.

  • Aww thanks for reassuring me, I'm glad to know my opinion as a viewer still counts after you informed me your view was higher and more educated than mine! ^_^

And you're right, people have a taste for different types of acting. I haven't denied that! All I'm saying is SGU's type of acting is not high in quality.

  • 1. I have no problem with you expressing your opinion, but everything in your comments and the video makes it seem like you believe your opinion is the only one that matters.

    2. At no point did I say my opinion was better than yours, simply that it was based on a type of experience you haven't had.

  • 1. Dear, that's why its called a debate. LMAO.

    2. Really? Because I seem to recall you implying your mother's stage/screen experience provided you with better insight than mine.

  • 1. No, a debate is stating your own opinion and then listening to what others have to say and discussing the pros and cons, I'm afraid we seem to have turned our attempt at debating into an all out bitchfest on both our parts, Let's attempt to turn it back into an actual debate, I'll tell you what I like about the show, you tell me what you don't like, and we'll compare reasons.

    2. That was not my intention, I meant to imply that my mother's knowledge gave me a different POV, not superiority .

  • 1. Sorry to inform you, but there are no pros to SGU. Only cons. Secondly, I do not appreciate the sexism displayed in your post.

    2. Call it what you like :)

  • Sexism implies I give a fuck what your Gender is, I happen to be a woman, bitchfest refers to a fight nothing more.

  • "Bitchfest" stems from 'bitch' which means female dog and is used in a derogatory manner toward women. Whether you like it or not, your spreading unconscious sexism.

What does it matter that you're a woman? Just because you're a woman and not insulted by the word doesn't mean other women aren't.

  • 3. The acting is considered high-quality by other actors and by other viewers, saying it like your opinion is the only one worth peoples time will make people react the same way to you.

If you act that way, people think that's who you are and respond accordingly.

  • 3. Hun, you're riding a dead horse. Besides, people have responded in a much more productive manner..

  • define productive

  • I realize this is an open forum for people to discuss their opinions, but if you believe so passionately that Stargate Universe is a 'good show' then you shouldn't be commenting on my video at all.

Why? Because by doing so you're helping out my video's traffic and therefore advertising my opinion. It may seem like a good idea to comment and show that your opinion has support, but in the end you're really supporting my opinion.

  • I don't see why I should be upset about advertising your video, I don't agree with your opinion, I have no problem with you having an opinion.

besides it shows my own opinion just as well.

  • It may show your opinion, but when people see this video their going to be paying more attention to mine. That's just a matter of fact.

  • Like I said, I don't have a problem with it.

  • Okay, that's perfectly fine by me. Thank you :D

  • What is Stargate Universe actually going to be about? Is it going to be another spin-off like Atlantis and maintain connections with the SGC or something completely different altogether???

  • It's going to be like StarTrek Voyager. The 25 year old and younger crew shall be stuck on a ship and lost in space. The characters are really cliche' too! The characters are a rip off of SGA & SG1 characters but as younger versions.

Apparently MGM & Scifi want to aim at a "younger generation". Well just because I'm fourteen doesn't mean I like teen soaps in space!

  • It's nothing like Voyager, and only two main characters are 25 or under.

  • Well no duh buddy, it's hardly anything like Voyager. We just call it that in order to derail the show and express our dissatisfaction.

And as a matter of fact, yeah, the cast isn't that young. But their awfully ugly.

  • Your Grasp of attractiveness is also limited, then again you are young, so you probably have a limited idea given to you by what Magazines and books say are the norm.

It is remarkably childish, but understandable considering your limited mindset.

I find attraction in all of the male cast, and I recognize the beauty in the females cast members.

  • Television is a visual medium, those people are repulsive. My expectations aren't for everyone to be hott, but at least bearable to look at and none of them meet that standard.

  • Strange, all of them meet my standard, and it's rather high.

Must be a difference in taste.

Then again, I prefer things other than looks as well, so it might be a difference taste in personality as well.

  • You wanna talk about their personalities? HA! Gosh, I think that might be even worse!

Scott is an annoying, sexist, whiny turd. Eli can easily be summarized as the fat kid who provides unwanted comedic relief. Dr. Rush is egotistical (and not in the lovable McKay way), boring, dry, look-at-me-I'm-so-irritating, know it all scientist. Greer is stereotyped as the tough, criminal, black guy with anger problems. Chloe is the senseless, mourning, rebelling teen who sleeps away her problems.

  • And that's just five of them! Most of them don't have a personality at all, and when they do its goddamn annoying.

  • How narrow-minded and tiresome you're proving to be.

I know all of those personality traits in real life, and all of the characters have proven to be more than you are saying they are, but if you refuse to look beyond what your eyes tell you, I'll leave you to your beliefs.

  • Oh I see how it is, all I do is state my opinion about a show and I become a narrow-minded person? GASP. I didn't know that simply stating my viewpoint would open me up to such personal attacks.

Oh sweetie if you only knew, I do look beyond my eyes, after watching that show my ears are ringing ;)
