  • Great piece of history, the way was heard in his time. I was born in Northern ontario, every other part of me is this sound and temperament

  • Up until I found all these videos on youtube I didn't know that Sonny Terry had made music with so many people. He's more than just a blues musician, he played gospel and bluegrass really.

  • look at the rpm's on that machine! nice song

  • I am in a class called the history of american folk music. a guest speaker came in a few weeks back. his name, Mr. Kreamer i beleive. he inherited all of Guthrie's original steel recordings. There are maybe 7 songs that have never been released... pretty sweet

  • some fool in the swedish nobel prize commitee today said that " american literature is second rate " . if some people would LISTEN a bit more then they would understand that much of american literature is based on the great tunes like this one ...toni morrison, kerouac, whitman, james baldwin, langston hughes , they all were immensely MUSICAL ..why are so many europeans too stupid to just get it ?!

  • excuse my ignorance, I have only been listening to music like this for maybe a year or more, WHO IS ALEK?!?

  • You're excused. Funny thing is, I don't know either. But that's who was on the label and I'm sticking to it. Oh! Wait a minute. manhatin might know or fuzzy45042, fuzzbear6240 or 78MAN. a few others are in my subscriptions. Have fun, surf around, check wikipedia (I know you can't trust their info). Hmmm, now I want to know. I'll PM you if I find anything.

  • For lack of a better way to say it:

  • Somewhere in my collection is a cisco houston platter. It was stamped ont transparent red vinyl. Spoze that was a joke, symbolic or whatever?

  • This is one Guthrie Geek who loves this kind of thing..thanks..

  • Thank YOU. Sadly this is the only Woody Guthrie record in my collection. But I keep buying them so check back from time to time.
