I live in Australia n we get the EP3 Civic Type-R and I own one, I have friends with highly modded B18 ITR's that can't catch my EP3 that only has a gruppe m air-intake and a buddyclub spec II exhaust (stock headers). So before you state that 'B > K' comment again find a REAL ep3 civic type-r then we'll see if you still think the same.

  • @suprakilla2JZ Dude don't talk about stuff where you have no knowledge of. VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is no subsitude for turbo's. It was created to have a engine that has the benefits of low and high RPM. Low RPM for fuel economy etc and High RPM for the power. This one of the reasons why Honda are both durable and sporty. This system has been copied by almost every other car manufactures, showing how usefull this Valve timing is, yes also by Nissan and BMW.

  • it is a k20 they put them in the newer hatches and thats one of them. and a k20 wouldnt neccisarily have smoked the h22a ive seen them run and theyre not much different at all. the h22 is just an older engine but has more torque. the k20 is less torqey but the vtec pop harder and is better.

  • H22 is definitely gonna be no. 1, the H22's had 190(in 4th gen)-200hp(in 5th gen) and not to mention higher displacement so more torque than all the other ones

    K Series motor is about 8lbs give or take then a h22 motor and i've had my jdm h22a for 3 years straight NO PROBLEMS..A motor's reliability is based on the owners maintaining, don't blame ur motor for ur short comings.

    If I had to pick either, H over K, K's are overly expensive to modify, overly difficult to swap into ANY chasis as well when all you need are the mounts and an H drops right on in.

  • H series make good power, but they're heavy and un-reliable. I constantly had to replace parts on my h22 before i got my K swap. plus you can put 15lbs of boost on a k series all day without a lick of trouble.

    is that the z3 has an rbc intake manifold, yea cam profiles, and balance shafts*, the A2 didnt get balance shafts but the TSX (k24a4) and the Z3 did.

  • actually the H has a cable tranny for shifting/the b has linkage. while both have hydraulic clutches. just letting you know

  • h22 only weighs about 16 lbs more than a b series and is about half the price of a decent k series, and once you get mounts, wire harness and axles you could of had an h22 in with cams, bisimoto header, and still be ahead. and if you want to do a lot to a k you're pretty much stuck with k-pro. the h22 is way overlooked. both a great engines with lots of torque but for the money its your call
