What would you classify this as? If I was off I apologize. I try and put a brief description on my vids so it makes it easier for people to find what they like. This sounded closest to northern soul and doo wop rather than any other genres. Keep in mind when I call a record "Northern Soul" I'm referring to the type of music that they listen to in Northern England. Northern soul artists can be from any part of the US, or the world for that matter. It's the sound, not where the group is from.
This is such a great tune... & there are lots of great versions I've come across... except the one that I was originally searching for - I have no idea who performed the version that's in my head :)
Cool! The first version I heard of this song was by The Clovers and then a few years later by Buddy Knox. This is a new one to me. Very nice! Thanks PJ!
Buddy Knox did a cover of this. This version is great, Thanks for the post

The Curtis co-writer of Lovey Dovey was Memphis Eddie Curtis, not King Curtis.

Label reads (Curtis-Nuggy) as songwriters, could that be King Curtis ? Also same man on the sax... It sounds very Yakkety Yak. Good Post.

That I'm not sure about.. This tune goes back to the early 50s. The Clovers did this originally

Did Steve Miller cop this for The Joker?

I wouldn't be surprised. Lovey Dovey by The Clovers was a big hit, and I hear Steve is a big r&b fan. He probably heard this at some point
